A lot of stations in the centre are quite close together and walking would be quicker and more scenic. For example, Leicester Square and Covent Garden are only 250m apart.
As a tourist in London currently, we're totally grateful for the underground.. after walking about all day seeing sights, sore feet and just wanting to get back to the hotel to crash, walking another 250m or the train, the train wins! Some tourists are only here for a limited time too, so taking the underground between stuff they've pre booked and paid for is essential. But if got loads of time walking is a great option.

London is NOT ENGLAND OR ENGLISH if you want English life, visit NORTHERN ENGLAND and small villages with proper gardens, tea etc. Abd you wont get stabbed or robbed
