I have been told that normal liver enzymes are between 7 to 56 units now does that mean if its 57 or 58 the doctor will say there is liver inflammation? I have been told people who dont have underlying liver problems and dont have a history of hepatitis can get these results temporary and depending on the case doctors can tell patients to change their diet and to stop or limit alcohol. I have been also told that liver inflammation on these tests are based on the number marker units on the tests is that correct? I have heard that having these elevated liver enzymes and the doctor saying they see inflammation dont necessarily mean have chronic liver problems so if you get those results in the future do you need to avoid anything? Good video by the way

You would have to have multiple tests over many months to say it is chronic and that is when you know something needs to be done. Hope that helps.

@swintegrative Thanks. Seems like everyone is different though. Is it also true red meat and white bread are unhealthy for the liver? If someone in my family had liver inflammation results just once and they returned to normal weeks later should they stick to whole wheat bread and maybe stop or limit alcohol and red meat and have veggie Burgers instead? I am asking about a family member

@@Poland35 unfortunately I can't answer those kinds of questions. First thing is find the cause if a person is eating a lot of bread (or alcohol) and they have high liver enzymes then decreasing will probably help. if the number improve on their own then it is not something to worry about but testing gives you these answers over time. hope that helps

@swintegrative I know I asked you this question before but I didn't get an answer in another video where I asked you but can liver inflammation results be inaccurate if you been drinking lots of alcohol before the test since I read up you should avoid alcohol 48 hour before test and if your enzymes were slightly elevated your doctor says they see inflammation it could've have been inaccurate due to not fasting before the test?

@@Poland35 all tests can be inaccurate but fasting does not significantly affect liver function tests. Alcohol will almost always raise it fasting or not.

My GOT/AST & GPT/ALT have been over 1k for months now. Doctors done all testing they can’t find the answer. Only thing they know is when they provide me with antibiotics my GOT/AST go down but my GPT/ALT stays the same.

I’m a 43 yr old woman with multiple test with high liver enzymes my ALT 65 AST 66 this was most recent what could be the cause? I don’t drink or smoke I also have gastroparesis so my meals are liquid currently when I was able to eat food I would mainly eat chicken. I have constant nausea in the need to vomit when trying to eat anything.
