    The best tribute to SRV is to be yourself on your instrument and give it 150% - that's what each of John, Jimmie, Doyle, Gary and especially Double Trouble did with this performance - no better job possible - AWESOME!

    @achae2969 9 лет назад +4

    i love that John decided to bring his first guitar to this event even though he has a ton he can choose from such as his famous Black One. Backstory on the guitar he's using here, he bought this particular guitar when he was still a teen when all he did was practice guitar and obsessed over SRV. this guitar is a direct influence of SRV's famous guitar, i love that John thought to bring his SRV influenced guitar to induct the man himself to the Rock N Roll hall of fame. so awesome..

RIP Vaughan. Thank God he helped reinvigorate the blues in the '80s, or else, how could we thrive? Check out Joe Bonamassa if you haven't.

    I think I’ve seen most of the RRHoF performances over the years, and this ranks among my favorites. Playing, singing, and most importantly, heart worthy of SRV. Appreciated seeing Doyle Bramhall II included, as he and his father, Doyle Sr., were/are longtime associates of both Vaughan brothers (love the pat on the back he gave Jimmie after “Six Strings Down”)…and Gary Clark, Jr., who should be better well known than he is…John Mayer, exquisite, the perfect contemporary choice to honor Stevie’s legacy….Reese, Chris, Tommy, and Jimmie all did Stevie proud. Love these guys.

    It's hilarious reading these "so and so was the best one out there, so and so is better than so and so" comments. The fact is, all these guitarists are great and have something different to offer, and that's what's great. I'm assuming those comments are by non-musicians who don't know any better and aren't very familiar with the blues. SRV is my favorite all-time guitarist. Not because he was technically proficient--in fact, one could argue he wasn't. He's my favorite because of HOW he would play. SRV said it best, "I use heavy strings, tune low, play hard and floor it. Floor it. That's technical talk."

  • @erdwboflyger6372
    @erdwboflyger6372 9 лет назад

    Now John Mayer is to me what Stevie is to John Mayer, but I don't think I can call him the best out there. There is no good or bad guitar players. Now there are more versatile and more experienced players for sure. But each guitarist has different techniques abilities and overall they know what they wan to play and what sound they like best for themselves. Every guitarist up there was fantastic in their own regard and I envy every single one of them.

  • @Billlovestheblues
    @Billlovestheblues 9 лет назад

    Omg. These comments are ridiculous Jimmie is a great guitar player. Second he was honoring his little brother and it's not who plays the best. Third Jimmie and Stevie always took a step back when playing for stuff like this. Be yourself John Mayer sounds like he's trying to put on a show and I am a musician so I know music and it's a tribute to a legend not an individual guitar dual. As in the blues players hold back because it's not always about a whole bunch of notes. Blues comes from inside yourself. It's not something you learn it's something you had all along. Jimmie is a damn great musician and these guys all are but why try to play exactly like Stevie played it. Be your own person with your own style. Yes style Srevie would never try to out do any other player or would most guitarists. John may be doing just that in my opinion.

    • @timsalive
      @timsalive 9 лет назад

      Bill Beardskey SRV did out do others by just playing and John plays his heart out also. If you are the musician as you say then why do you rip into John? No class. I have talked with so many engineers producers and other legendary guitarists and they all agree John is the real deal. He may not be your favorite but he shreds circles around most others.
