The best punch of Ali's career... is the one he DIDNT throw RIGHT before Foreman goes down. Its so perfect the way he just watches him fall instead of hitting him again... which he easily could have.
Foreman did change his behavior. As a young fighter he walked around with 2 of the meanest dogs you've ever seen. By his own admission he was mean and sullen a very intimidating man. But yes he did change. Smartest thing he ever did. Except for Floyd Mayweather no fighter has made more money because of his involvement with boxing.
The funny thing is, if he had WON that fight.....he'd have fought for a while more until he lost to someone else, and then very likely, faded into (relative) obscurity. He may not have gone into preaching, may never have made his comeback.....which would have meant there wouldn't be the George Foreman Grill, that he made millions and millions for lending his name......the comeback also showed the "New and Improved" Foreman that the public absolutely loved...funny, clever, humble..... Come on man... win or lose are usual things on Sportship, the difference is how to face it.. and Big George is a perfect example for us, he is a Great Man who can defeated himself and take back the Champion Tittle.. give some respect to the unseparable Three Greatests (Ali, Frazier and Foreman)
George became one of the greatest icons for accepting his humanity with humbleness. And now he's blessed in abundance and not forgetting when George shook the world as Ali did by defying age to win the world title when he beat Michael Moorer.. as Ali says.. He shook up the world and ended being a champion once more.. respect !
Finally the film is made. I use to listen to George's interviews regarding his fights and his happiness show and glows when he starts on Ali May Allah reward him with his mercy and blessing. By God George is incredible human being, he loved Ali with all his heart and speaks of him as True brother, and that is a True brother!!!
Seldom, very seldom. We meet people in our life who tap heart and soul in a way that we never stay the same person. Ali transfers a powerful post-fight winning blow to George - never end up as a loser. George carried this message close to his heart and soul and got his title back after 20 years of his defeat from Ali that I do not consider as a defeat!
Ali said, "is that all you got George?", in the 5th round. George had nothing in the 6th, he got punched repeatedly in the 6th round and was actually thoroughly outclassed in the end of the 5th round after he emptied his tank trying to hurt Ali's body. Ali hit George with more than a dozen punches to the face in the last few seconds of the 5th, Ali had a good chance of ending it at the end of the 5th. The rope-a-dope was not really the major factor deciding this fight, it was the fact that Ali had the speed to land hard right hand leads and great combinations from the 1st round on due to Foreman's lack of defensive skills and strategy. George was slowed by Ali's punches just as much as he was by his own mistake of exhausting himself trying to chase and hit Ali's body. Ali was simply a much better boxer with more talent than George Foreman. You can see how swollen Foreman's face was after the Rumble in the Jungle as he climbed out of the ring in this tape. This was evidence of how many times he got punched in the face with good hard shots throughout the fight. George did improve much later. I did not think Foreman could beat Ali at the time, I thought he was too slow, too clumsy on his feet, and lacked defense. He proved that I was correct.
@Astoriacost CostastoriaI personally disagree, I think Ali's fight against Liston for example proves he's always had exceptional boxing ability. Don't forget his 3.5 year absence from boxing, where he wasn't doing any training. And also the fact that speed begins to deteriorate after the age of 30. But that's my personal opinion
George foreman - what a wonderful human being, so humble, amazing athlete... and it really makes me happy that he can speak fondly of Mohammed Ali - Ali another wonderful person, such an era of amazing athletes that we don't have anymore...

You don't often hear champions talking this candidly, with this much humility and compassion as this any more, especially regarding a loss. I hope this degree of "gentleman demeanor" comes back some day. Right now it sells tickets to have lots of angst between two fighters, to make a good rivalry.
