In November 2023, after two months of war in Gaza, a temporary ceasefire and prisoner-hostage swap between Israel and Hamas was agreed. More than 240 Palestinian prisoners were released for just over 100 Israeli hostages taken on October 7.
At 14, Ahmad Salaymeh was the youngest Palestinian prisoner to be released and his time in prison has changed the course of his life. It’s been three months since he’s been home, and he’s been prevented from returning back to school under orders from Israel’s Ministry of Education.
Ahmad's story is a common one for many Palestinian children, each year 500-700 Palestinian children are prosecuted in Israeli military courts.

When the last hostages were released they had a temporary deal and hamas has tried to give the hostages back so many times even at the beginning and Netanyahu kept refusing.
