- Because I was impressed with the experience of the Olympus E-PL3, I wanted to try out other micro four thirds cameras. Today, I am going to give my thoughts on the Panasonic Lumix G3.

One of the good Lumix G3 reviews out there
Underappreciated gem. It's my go to street & travel camera. Amazingly small and light, fully articulating touch screen, decent EVG, decent AF, 16MP and dirt cheap nowadays.
I use the Panasonic lumix G3 as my main camera 📷
I've always been impressed with the images it produces for the price, I paid just £45.😊
I think for video, especially vlogging, it needs a hand held gimbal.
For video you also need ptool, with ptool you can customize the latest firmware to get better compression and much higher bitrate. You can also try interlaced 60fps with it.
It also has features for better audio (bitrate and AGC)
Thanks. I was trying to decide if I want to upgrade my micro. I bought my G3 new in 2012. I now have a full frame Lumix. But I love how lightweight these 4/3 cameras are for just carrying everywhere. My iPhone has been perfect for what I do. Which is just basic documenting day to day. I guess it's time to hand my G3 down to my son.
Micro 4/3
Decent review. Maybe a stabilized lens and a selfie stick would make the video more useable. How was the autofocus? What about battery life? I’m thinking this would make a good backup for my EM1mkii.
I thought the autofocus was reliable. I can't comment though on how reliable it is on fast moving subjects since I haven't tried it. As for the battery, it went to about half way after about 3 hours of just walking around and taking test photos and videos (turned off when I knew I wasn't going to use it of course). If you end up purchasing this, I'm sure you can find a good deal on extra batteries too. They shouldn't be too expensive.
If u use it with a gimbal, i think it would be pretty decent for a main camera to use!!!
Maybe not the greatest for video but stills should be good for about a 16x20 print. I have a Lumix G5, mostly the same camera with a bigger grip and HDR.
i use it as a webcam and sometimes as a second camera. i stick a lav mic with usbc connected to my phone and put that in my pocket for audio most of the time anyway. i'm using a Minolta 50mm MD f1.2 adapted to the G3 on a tripod in most cases. this is the sort of context that i think adapting vintage lenses to the g3 works well. it also works well for b-roll when i set it up on a tripod or on a stable surface and just let it roll.
the onboard audio is awful by today's standards, so i just use it for sync and then toss it. i'd rather just hook a USB lav to my phone or use a shotgun mic adapted to my old phone.
I've got to try this some time. Thanks for the insight!
@@imseeno that's the beauty of this platform. we all get a chance to learn from each other. if you get good results, make a video! lol
How do you use as webcam? I need to do that but i don't know how
Thanks, I see them for under $200
A few comments. Did you know that Olympus makes an external mike adapter for your E-PL3? They are hard to find, but combined with the IBIS, the E-PL3 is a pretty awesome video camera. You really need a stablized lens to shoot videos well on the G3. I think that the G3 is too big and bulky for what it is. Finally, I make 40 x 30 inch prints regularly from Micro Four Thirds without any problems. They are just beautiful. So don't put the sensor size down by saying it is only good for social media photographs. That is simply untrue and is just based on your own pre-conceived ideas but not fact at all!!
Very interesting! Thank you for all the new information.
If you thinks it's bulky, you probably need a safe space 😂. You must be fun at parties
how can i connect this camera to obs
I'm not sure myself so I tried looking for answers. To connect a Lumix camera as a webcam, it either has to be one of the specific newer Lumix models or you must use some kind of capture card and other connections. But I can't confirm this myself since I no longer have the camera and this is beyond my knowledge. Sorry I can't be of help.

But, for stills, I don't think it's bad. Yes, video is different. For video, you need a modern camera, and even then, not all modern cameras are equal.
1080 is still. Great in general, not sure what you mean by modern camera
Title is nonsense, the Camera doesn't know how old it is and will work the same as it did from day one....A good camera is a good camera but in the hands of a bad photographer it isn't....Honestly more YT garbage for links....
I don't remember what I said in the video to be honest. I wanted to express that it wasn't to my liking/standards. If I came across saying that it wasn't good and you shouldn't buy it, I apologize for making it sound that way.
