I have Zulu coconuts, Nyx purses, Iris sunglasses & even a Tucks toilet brush but, as of yet, no coveted Muses shoe. Getting one has become a sacred quest! Excellent & informative video, as always. And Andrew is serious about wearing closed shoes, especially in the FQ. The wet sludge, often called "Decaturade" , that flows thru the streets of the FQ is no joke, especially during MG.

I'm a local and here's something to think about for anyone thinking of coming here for Mardi Gras...... the NOPD is severely understaffed right now. They had to change parade routes just because they don't have enough police for the long routes. So don't be surprised if you become a victim of crime here and don't be surprised when it takes at least an hour for police to respond if they respond at all. I'm not exaggerating this. THANK YOU for this video! We are heading your way later this month to celebrate our sons 21st birthdays. It’s a family affair and a few in our group have never been to Mardi Gras. This video puts into context visually and audibly what I can’t explain. This will be my 5th season attending. I was able to give you a Venmo tip and share your video to our Krewe. I greatly appreciate the information about cellphones, drinks and parade etiquette. - T*

Would be nice if more people would wear mask in huge groups. Not concerned about the people in Parades (we have all been vaccinated, boosted, and/or tested within 72 hours of the parades) Wearing a mask isnt foolproof(see what I did there) but it HELPS prevent the spread. I am more concerned about all the people visiting that may not be vaccinated and refuse to wear mask. Stay healthy out there yall. We want to get back to something "normal" .... Let's encourage Healthy Supportive behaviors.

@@FreeToursbyFootHQ My friends and I just got back from Mardi Gras 2022, and it was a blast. We watched so many of your videos to prepare! We did end up taking the 3pm voodoo tour, with Robert as our guide. He was great! He was very friendly and informative, and even gave us suggestions for dinner when we asked. Can't thank you guys enough for a great experience!
You aren’t the only one who throw things in parades. You should see spanish grandma’s trying to catch candy hahaha Amazing and informative video as always!
Very helpful! We live about 2.5 hours away and I've been thinking about taking my son to Endymion but I'm worried I won't be able to find a parking spot in a parking garage near Canal st and Claiborne😩
Kinda late to do so inexpensively but try booking a parking spot ahead of time. There are many available services/apps, but I normally use SpotHero. That way your parking is guaranteed and produces a receipt available (physical print out or QR/barcoded receipt) to avoid any issues. You will still likely be walking alot to get to your preferred parade, but you will have a parking spot. The earlier on you book (months out is best), it's usually less expensive. Be extremely careful to park in designated (and well lit/populated) areas to deter potential problems. Hope you enjoy your trip down 🎉

Try to be near the start or middle of the parade. You have to fight for space and throws the closer you are to the quarter. Any decent beads often get broken by someone else trying to snatch them from you. Endymion is too competitive for us.

Thank you for the information! Heading there in a few months. I didn’t know what the process on rebuilding after the hurricane. Would you say New Orleans is back up and running ? Appreciate the feedback.
This may be a bit of a strange question to ask a channel thats all about New Orleans tourism, but have you experienced any of the other Mardi Gras celebrations in Louisiana or even the Mardi Gras in Mobile, AL?
Thanks again for watching and for your donation, Patricia! If you know of anyone else who might also enjoy these videos, please share us with them. We would really appreciate that! Thank you.
As a born and raised local, some info not mentioned... -Parking: don't be an ass. Listen to whomever's house you're parking by. Tow trucks and meter maids are everywhere. You park across a driveway, don't be surprised if you get towed. Don't leave expensive things in your car as they may get stolen. - Police: They are working 12-15 hour shifts. They are in bad moods. Do not pester them. If you get arrested during Mardi Gras, you are in holding until Ash Wednesday. Offer the cops some snacks and some water, and just be nice. -Drinking: it's a marathon, not a sprint. Locals absolutely hate drunk tourists. Don't pass out, puke, or pee on people's houses or lawns. We hate it, and then will hate you. -Location: Uptown is primarily for families. Don't watch a parade Uptown if you're going to get trashed and start flashing for beads. The parents will form an angry mob against you. -Attitude: Don't get pissy with the locals. We've been doing this a long time. We're happy to offer advice, give you a drink, or some fried chicken. We'd probably offer you a bathroom if you ask. Just be nice. We're all there to have a good time. - Carnival Balls: There are mainly two types, white dress balls and costume balls. The white dress balls start on Twelfth Night and run through Fat Tuesday. Costume balls usually start a little later in the season. Yes, you may see people walking around in formal attire. Yes, many people take it very seriously. But both types are having a great time and will gladly talk to you about it.

Your statement that New Orleans Marci gras is the only one that throws stuff is incorrect. Evidently you’ve never been to the birthplace of mardi gras Mobile Alabama the revealers will beam you with beads frozen moon pies. You need to experience Mardi Gras in mobile just one time
I just got back from new orleans last night. Krew of chubacchus was amazing! I made a video about it in case anyone missed it: ruclips.net/video/aGLOUjHahUM/видео.html This guy really knows his stuff and I wish I had seen this last week. ESPECIALLY the part about walking a lot. Bring comfortable shoes (but not the nice ones) and pack a bag of supplies. Once youre out you wont wanna double back.

Great video and very useful information, thank you! We’ll be there starting tomorrow and this is our first time😍 Can’t wait to see what’s in store for us. And can you please help me with booking tickets for Endymion extravaganza. I can’t find any link anywhere.
Thanks!
Hey, sorry not to have seen this sooner (as Endymion is rolling as I type) - most likely they were already sold out by then. Hope you enjoy the parade!
@@andrewfarrier1937 No issues. We’ll plan it for the next time. We enjoyed all the parades and had a very good time in NOLA 🥳
New subscriber! Love your channel, Andrew! I majored in History and have lived in the Northeast, but I know very little about New Orleans. Want to visit one day. So, thank you for the expert tours. You are charming! btw! 😉

I love your videos Andy! My husband and I are taking a cruise out of your port on March 5th. This is our first trip to New Orleans for both of us and we are so excited! We'll be in town on the 3rd and 4th. I'm sad Mardi Gras will be over by then. We'll also be in town on the 13th and 14th when we get back from the cruise. I wish we could take a tour with you on one of those days. You are so informative, and I'm sure your tours would be a lot of fun!😊

@@FreeToursbyFootHQI’ve seen all of your videos. Huge fan here.
Would be nice if more people would wear mask in huge groups. Not concerned about the people in Parades (we have all been vaccinated, boosted, and/or tested within 72 hours of the parades)
Wearing a mask isnt foolproof(see what I did there) but it HELPS prevent the spread.

Right!!
Is this in Spain?
Thanks, a great overview and explanation of Mardi Gras in New Orleans.
Thank you.

I'll be there in 2 weeks from Atlanta

Thanks!

How do you get an invite to a ball?
St. Patrick parade I caught cabbage.
Thanks again for watching, Phil! If you know of anyone else who might also enjoy these videos, please share us with them. We would really appreciate that! Thank you.
Mardi Gras is the day before Ash Wednesday.
That would be the easier way of explaining it :)
St. Charles is the best place to watch all the Uptown parades.
Where in the world does everyone park?
I want to go some day never been

Mardi Gras season in New Orleans
Free
Your statement that New Orleans Marci gras is the only one that throws stuff is incorrect. Evidently you’ve never been to the birthplace of mardi gras Mobile Alabama the revealers will beam you with beads frozen moon pies. You need to experience Mardi Gras in mobile just one time
Nb
Are people wearing masks?
Some.
Barkus is good, St. Ann Parade is always Very Good, the rest is one big yawn generally for tourists or poor residents. Tired of all the hype.
Step 1 DONT GO!!!!
I hate Lousiana!
I just got back from new orleans last night. Krew of chubacchus was amazing! I made a video about it in case anyone missed it: ruclips.net/video/aGLOUjHahUM/видео.html
