    I would really like to see a video exploring what you consider the studio lighting setup (softboxes, etc) for optimal quality scanning.

      Thanks for the input!
      Usually the normal/regular room light environment should be fine. And depending on the color/material of the object, we can then adjust the brightness from the software setting to get the optimal scanning result.

    the #1 issue is its not registering the device without an account.

      That's right. You will need to register a new Shining3d account first before you can activate the scanner.

      Hello~
      The best 3D scanner is really depends on your application. For example, if you have a small object under 3 inches, the best 3d scanner for you is a Desktop scanner with a turntable. If you have a big object like 7 feet high, the best 3d scanner for you should be a handheld scanner.
      It also depends on your budget to decide which is the best 3d scanner for you.
      Welcome go to UMAX.COM to contact us if you want us to help decide which scanner is best fit for your application.
      Best regards

    You are talking many times in the video about links in the description for driver issues or other links, however you have no links in the description...

      Hello, here is the link for the Einstar driver issue:
      support.einstar.com/support/solutions/articles/60000790760-einstar-continues-rebooting-in-device-manager
      Sorry we removed the link from the description later because the manufacture updated the URL support link from time to time. The link we posted a year ago is not valid anymore.

    Any advice on setting the orientation? It surprises me that this isn't sorted in the calibration step. If I'm scanning the top of something, it would be nice for the view cube in the program to show that I'm scanning the top. But it always defaults to some useless bottom angle that makes no sense and then continues tracking from it. It leads to exported STLs being the wrong orientation after exporting to other software. It's wasting a lot of time.

    • @umax2639
      @umax2639  7 месяцев назад

      Yes by default the program view always starts from the last good working scan spot. But after you start to make the successful scan at the top of object (for example), the program view should quickly switch to the top of object view.

    Why my 3d scanner out notice “not enough features to align” ? What does it mean?

    • @umax2639
      @umax2639  3 месяца назад

      It means the scanner can't recognize the object at this moment. It can be several reasons below:
      1, The object has many flat area without markers so the scanner can't recognize it. In this case, you will need to put some markers on the object.
      2. The setting between the object & scanner may not be good enough. Like the brightness, distance,..

    Great video, when I export my scans into fusion 360 the scaling is off 1mm becomes 100mm how do I correct the scaling?

    • @umax2639
      @umax2639  Год назад

      One thing you can try is before export, set the document setting to inches, then use Save as DXF (or your preferred fusion 360 format). After export set the document back to mm.

    heya, quite useful guides on the einstar scanners.
    I'm getting good quality 3d models out of the scans but the texture resolution is way too low to be considered acceptable, sometimes in the 1000x1000 pixel range and sometimes way lower and even if it gets close to a 1024 texture, the quality is still pretty bad. I've noticed that remapping textures and or using layer optimization significantly decreases texture size and resolution.
    Is this due to poor quality/resolution of the rgb camera or am i doing something wrong? they don't state the resolution of the rgb camera, they just say it has texture capture capability. Maybe i'm scanning something too small (a burger bun) to have a high enough texture resolution but at least the 3d model itself is pretty good.
    Any suggestion or advice is greatly appreciated!

    • @umax2639
      @umax2639  Год назад +1

      May I know your computer hardware spec like video card, memory size and CPU type?
      Also the object you scanned is about the minimum size so I wonder if you can put the burger bun on a colorful dish (to make the whole object bigger size) and then scan them all together?

    • @WHOOLKAN
      @WHOOLKAN Год назад

      @@umax2639 pc specs are amd 5950x, evga rtx 3090, 64gb ram ddr4 3200mhz, 7 hard drives for a total of 19tb, i'm saving the scan files on a 4tb ssd drive. my second workstation is amd 3900x, asus tuf 3090, 64gb ram ddr4 3200mhz, 5tb drives (1tb nvme, 4tb ssd) and both have the same results.
      i tried including in the scan also the turntable plate i was using, but that just made the textures even lower resolution on the burger bun.
      i wonder if there is a size limit for textures or if exporting in obj is what makes the final texture so small, seems weird to me that the biggest output i get is 1189x1279 without texture layer optimization on, while turning it on the output is 735x608.
      the first one (1189x1279) is a single image texture containing a sequence of square and rectangular pictures put side by side in progressively smaller size, while the second (735x608) looks closer to what would be like making an actual uv unwrapping of the object since it's 3 distinct uv islands.
      since the camera takes so many pictures i was expecting much higher texture resolution given it should be able to stitch a few dozen pics together, but instead this is what i get. i can send example files if it can help

      Have you made your Nvidia video card as primary graphic processor for Einstar program? By default, the computer always use the onboard lower end video card to handle every program. If you haven't done so, please type "Nvidia" search keyword in your Windows' bottom and select " Nvidia Control Panel". Tab the program on the top and add Exstar program into the list and make Nvidia video as default.
      Also, we recommend that you change the Windows's power setting to "Best performance" mode when you use the scanner.

    • @WHOOLKAN
      @WHOOLKAN Год назад

      @@umax2639 Hi, thanks for taking the time to answer.
      I don't have a integrated gpu, the amd 5950x doesn't have one, the rtx 3090 is the only gpu in the system and windows and the nvidia settings are already tuned on my workstation for maximum performance (i'm a professional 3D artist in the videogame industry, i'm not new to building computers and how they work).
      Seems a bit strange to me that the RGB camera can take multiple pictures but the output image is a few dozen of them crammed in a texture around 1k or smaller. Even if the rgb camera is a 3 megapixel camera, it should be able to snap dozens of pictures and stitch them together into a higher resolution one but apparently the software limits itself at doing a mosaic/collage of extremely low res images to extract the texture.
      If i had the money to spare i'd buy a second scanner just to open it up and look at exactly what components are used and reverse engineer the actual technical specifications for the heck of it.
      The scanner itself is great at capturing surface data extremely quickly at a pretty good resolution and level of accuracy, i need to test if using a DSLR with cross polarized flash for flat Albedo capture is a valid workflow. I'm just surprised that the geometry is very good but textures are so low and the software itself allows only for brightness and contrast control, which is extremely basic. Using a DSLR for Albedo capture would be the best way because i can extract texture up to 16k in size but for a scan that should take 5-10 min at most is a bit overkill, the scanner itself should be able to do a 2-4k.
      I'd be curious to know if your scans have textures of similar size (around 1000x1000 pixel more or less) to figure out if it's a limitation of the scanner, the software or something else since shining3D doesn't mention this stuff and there is virtually no info online about the texture map resolution it can capture.

      Also we found another issue. Your computer is AMD cpu which may be a main problem. Basically both Einstar and Einscan scanner were designed with Intel cpu based, so most AMD cpu computer won't be compatible with these scanners..
