That is how my husband and I started out. I would give him the same veggies and starch that I was eating and add a protein to his meal. He saw how well I was doing, so he decided to join my WFPB meal plan. He has now lost about 35 lbs and feels much better. He is 78 yrs. old and mows 22 acres. He also takes care of a large garden.
My husband and I share a home with my parents, whom I care for. At first, I was cooking meals for them and eating mine separate, meal prepping. Then my husband started slowly eating my meals because they tasted good to him. Then he had a Drs. appointment, and his labs were so good (he has COPD, CHF, Renal Disease and hypothyroidism) he decided to completely switch over. Now I make two completely different meals at least 4 nights a week. Honestly, I don't mind because my parents ARE NOT going to change the way they eat now. And I'm not into telling other people what to eat. But me and hubby feel great, so I just deal with it. The good thing is now I have the energy to keep up with it. Oh, and to deal with craving what my parents eat, I just changed my mind set to "that is not my food, those food are not edible for me".
So well put. When I think back, we were doing this for a while. I did my food, which became his sides. Then he had his physical. He got the worst heart health diagnosis ever. We talked. I said, "I don't want to be a widow." He said, "I'll eat what you eat." But we quickly found he really did not like my food choices, + didn't feel fully satisfied. So, he fell back to meat. I want him to eat healthier, but it is stressing me out too much. Now we're somewhere in the middle. I just have to get organized. That's my main weak link. I'm going to re-think all of this. Find out what are his favorite sides and try to go that route. Thank you Liz for your wealth of wisdom at such a young age. Luv you for it.
I make two meals, one for my family and one for me as well. I choose to eat this way now and I do not expect my family to change the way they eat. I also make Thanksgiving dinner with all the fixings for my extended family and my own meal separately. It's my choice, and I just deal with it. I love cooking for my family. 😊
Excellent video Liz even though I am single so don't have to make two meals and if I was married i wouldn't want my wife to cook for me because I'm capable of doing that myself.
Why does everyone think it is the wives responsibility to feed their husband? My husband is more than capable of cooking for himself😂
I am not married but if I was I wouldn't expect my wife to cook for me because I believe it should be shared between husband and wife.
I don’t think anyone “expects” it.
Each couple decides what is best for their schedules and routines and it's important to respect everyone's choices!

Wonderful! Love to hear it
This all works because you don't have children. It is very hard when you have multiple children to prepare meals for also.
I could imagine it would be more difficult.

You got this! Remember, it is different for everybody. But it is really about making healthy choices. Glad you are here!

Wonderful to hear!
I cook at least 3 meals a night. It just depends on your family and what works for you all.
Exactly! Thanks for the support!
Omg! How rude! People need to mind their own business!
Everyone has their own opinions, I understand.
