@@TheLibraryofLetourneau old nl really was the best though. i cant even watch him anymore, hes just become a boring liberal dad now who has to play the mainstream political dance after every other thing he says
@DCzero50 not even like morally confident liberal either. Like he skirts around terribly bigoted personalities while talking about them like he doesn't care at all or pretending he doesn't know. Just very milquetoast or however you spell that. But admittedly that's how you keep the largest audience. Apathetic centrism without ever decrying any belief no matter how obviously harmful. Speaking of being offensive, it really should be more normalized to shame people for being evil.
If you say transphobia you immediately sound like a twitter user and 99% of normal people will instantly tune out and assume you have some kind of strong political agenda. Words with strong associations like that are avoided all the time. There is a reason the government changed the term 'UFO' to UAP when they wanted to be taken seriously
I think we can agree that we do still have offensive jokes, they just more focus on a specific individual instead of someone's race. So if you were someone who argues that bullying is ok then you should also be fine.
When people complain about being "cancelled" and the consequences, they are really complaining about free speech and capitalism for two simple reasons: 1. Free speech means everyone gets free speech. If you say something controversial, people have the right to respond to that. 2. Because people have the right to respond however they wish, and capitalism means that most establishments you interact with are privately owned, you can experience consequences like being fired from your job for what you said online. Your employer is also a private citizen, and you are working on private property. Imagine if you didn't have the right to kick someone off your own property. That's why cancel culture can be so powerful. Free speech has benefits and consequences, and you can't have your cake and eat it too. You can't exercise your right to free speech, then complain about it when others exercise their right to ostracise you.
Freedom of speech = Freedom to unperson? I don't know how anyone can justify taking a person's livelihood just because they have radical opinions (especially when power is transferred to corporations and governments to enforce this). Just as speech has consequences, those consequences have consequences - you'd be a fool to believe firing, censoring, arresting and/or harassing people for things that they say/write won't foster hatred and resentment. It amazes me that the "left-wing" position is to support the bourgeoisie against the proletariat in this regard.
gotta disagree on ricky gervais being funny. most of his solo comedy is awful. his comedy heavily relies on people funnier than him to do the heavy lifting

I've hated dave chappelle since like 2012 bc his only joke is that line from the simpsons "Black guys drive a car like this, but white guys drive a car like this"
It's crazy to me how do many people who were born mid 90's or earlier forgot how to banter with pride and confidence. I just congratulated my friend for having a baby, the only other friend in my group besides me who's a dad now. Naturally I called the other guys a bunch of eunuchs and I had to remind them of who I am because their skin has turned to paper since college. People just used to hack away at each other with a smile on both ends of the conversation, it was great.
I think your friends like you less than you think they do, you are definitely the one they talk about when you are not around, and you are not around with the rest of them quite often I imagine
this video perfectly highlights why i cant watch nl anymore, he used to be so unique and free but now he seems self censored and held back a bunch of main stream nonsense. He complains about chapelles new specials when honestly the same critique could be pointed right back at him. He used to freestyle dirty song parodies based off a random pun he pulled out of nowhere and now everytime i turn on his stream its just a countdown til he says some boring political garbage. He's just become a bland liberal dad who thinks saying club soda is good is a hot take.
Every people are made of glass now, everything is offensive, everyone promoting "freedom of expression" yet they do silence everyone who disagree with em, therefore Comedy this day are not that funny as before.

he was flying way too close to the sun on this one, the centrist energy was way too strong here
extremes are scary.
That sounds pretty based of him
I miss centrist NL. He used to laugh at Rob's extreme left takes, then he started just being quiet when his hyper lefty friends spoke. Makes it real hard to watch him the past few years. We ain't getting anymore crusty sock clips or the like.
@@shawncothran6337 What are you even yapping about. There are clips of them discussing sticking it in their own clones and traveling back in time to wipe themselves from existence by swallowing their dads' loads in like the last month alone.
I get that "RETVRN TO TRADITIONS" is your whole thing, but choosing the crusty sock bit as the peak of offensive humor we will never get back is just hysterical.
@@shawncothran6337 ????????
The crusty sock bit wasn't even NL's joke. It was something K8 brought up while playing R6 Siege with Kory and the community ran with it. If cum jokes are your idea of brave anti-left humor, you're in luck, we're still swimming in those.
Also I don't even know which hyper lefty friends you're referring to here, or what they said that you think needed a shutdown by NL. Are they hyper lefty by American standards, or first world standards?

I love Peep Show, and being from the UK I love humour that's cringe and watching people being miserable, but even in Peep Show there were a couple that were too much for me. Amazing show but fucking hell some parts are really hard to watch!
I just find it distasteful that so much of the entertainment industry there is synonymous with anti trans campaigning?
@@princessgarfi3ld oh no doubt, it's less prevalent in modern shows here but to be honest most of the older shows, even though I do love them have a ton of bad jokes in them that aged really poorly, not just with trans people.
However at least with other issues generally the butt of the joke is the person being racist, sexist etc, you're meant to think they're the horrible idiot. But transphobia gets more of a pass. I do think that's an issue across the West though, not just the UK (although obv we're known as TERF island for a reason, it's pretty bad).
@@AdamGaffney96 I think I'd have much less of a problem if it was just poor taste trans jokes? It's just so vexxing and genuinely bizarre to look up all these British comedians and see that they've been really outspoken campaigning against rights for transgender people in their personal lives? like WHY, how is this possibly the final hill to die on?
Like Richard Ayoade is a perfect example to me.
I liked him!! he is charming and funny,, oh.. glowing praise of "cancelled" memoire by a VERY active anti trans advocate, I feel bad gross now. It just feels like a minefield that just isn't worth the stress to walk.
Detroit pizza is better than Chicago too
as someone who just started the isaac streams these are wild takes

@@TheLibraryofLetourneauit's crazy because you don't even realize it's changing as it's happening lol. I went back and watched an old Two Best Friends playthrough I'd never seen and the amount of casual "r*tard" and a ton of other stuff was a wild surprise just because I can't remember the last time I heard someone talk like that.
Speaking of being offensive, it really should be more normalized to shame people for being evil.
it's kinda fascinating how hard he swerves to avoid saying "transphobia"
If you say transphobia you immediately sound like a twitter user and 99% of normal people will instantly tune out and assume you have some kind of strong political agenda. Words with strong associations like that are avoided all the time. There is a reason the government changed the term 'UFO' to UAP when they wanted to be taken seriously
i just dont get why he doesnt acknowledge it
i love nl but its just very odd
It sounded more to me like NL just wasn't even aware of that issue, but I could be wrong
theres absolutely no way he wouldnt have been aware of that bc he says he Knows why dave chapelle is controversial@@ArenDsiire
Because it sucks out any humour there is in the moment, diagnosing someone else's phobias is the easiest way to alienate everyone.
New haven Pizza #1 pizza in the US
I think the "they shouldn't be saying that" is what makes a good chunk of edgy comedy funny.
Subversion of expectation has always been the bedrock of comedy. Even if those expectations are about socially constructed taboos.

American take
I think we can agree that we do still have offensive jokes, they just more focus on a specific individual instead of someone's race. So if you were someone who argues that bullying is ok then you should also be fine.
When people complain about being "cancelled" and the consequences, they are really complaining about free speech and capitalism for two simple reasons:
Schizophrenic meme pages are funnier than any comedian or RUclipsr
Derek is one of the greatest shows ever made.
gotta disagree on ricky gervais being funny. most of his solo comedy is awful. his comedy heavily relies on people funnier than him to do the heavy lifting
how i met your mother being his #1 show of all time is the MOST bald millennial opinion of ALL TIME
How I met your mother? Is that a joke?
almost no one is genuinely offended, its a weird game of virtue signaling and groupthink.
Knowing his takes on comedy explains why he's the wittiest dude I've ever seen but has never made me laugh
People _still_ hating on Dave Chappelle for courting controversy need to take themselves less seriously. That's just his art, man.

God dammit, Dave. *sigh*
He supported Palestinians and condemned Hamas. He's against collective punishment (AKA Israel committing war crimes), what's the big deal? It's a lot better take than his transphobic "team TERF" bullshit
Because of the Israel thing? We don't even know what he said do we?
I've hated dave chappelle since like 2012 bc his only joke is that line from the simpsons "Black guys drive a car like this, but white guys drive a car like this"

It's crazy to me how do many people who were born mid 90's or earlier forgot how to banter with pride and confidence. I just congratulated my friend for having a baby, the only other friend in my group besides me who's a dad now. Naturally I called the other guys a bunch of eunuchs and I had to remind them of who I am because their skin has turned to paper since college. this video perfectly highlights why i cant watch nl anymore, he used to be so unique and free but now he seems self censored and held back a bunch of main stream nonsense.
