Less than 5 minutes into this video, and my heart has been warmed. I just finished McMurtry's memoir, Books, and his personal library consisted of 28,000 volumes. 1000 seems more manageable.
Great haul, Steve! I think the book gods were dropping blessings across the country. Yesterday I went to Goodwill on a whim and found a signed hardcover of The Collected Stories of Eudora Welty full of ephemera from the 1984 Southern Literary Festival. From what I can piece together, the previous owner presented an essay at the conference and presumably had Welty sign the book. Nothing beats that for $1.59!
Have you considered taking Erasmus with you to the Brattle? I think, once freed from his frame, tucked securely in the miraculous expanding bag, he could be trusted on to sniff out the Tudor books. You would hear a polite little cough or an excited exclamation in Latin.
Do you own Froude’s History of England? Certainly not a set to get rid of during the Ragnarok if you do. I can’t find a complete ebook of it, and I really want to read it! I’ve also been thinking a lot about the Tudors.
I love the writing of John McGahern. I read his novel, Amongst women, many years ago, and have a good quality promotional hardback of his novel, That they may face the rising sun, published by Irish Independent, that I found in a used book shop in Sydney Australia three years ago.
Watching all your content, I respect your formidable intelligence and wit, about the species, man, yet, knowing what you know, the malecontent continues. As history's proven. Intelligence and wit, only, becomes entertainment, at best. 6:35 😅😮 10:42

😂"I've been going there (to the Battle Bookshop) for well over a year"
Has it been that long already? ;)
Imagine how many visits Steve will have managed by the time he is 30!
I spelt the bookshop name wrong... blame the fact I'm in English UK! ....Brattle, Bratle, Brattel, Brattol, Bratole, Bratul ????

Amazon has the two-volume Toynbee for $5,000, in acceptable condition. You are so lucky!
Another Great Day at the Brattle - what fun!
The beagle whisperer strikes again, loves them kisses.
Hate to do it Steve, but People Tire Company is 96 years old and still alive.
I’ve been looking for Andrew Roberts Uk version of napoleon too. Where’s the bean. Missed seeing her in the back of the couch.
At the bottom of the Mississippi ???? That's a story I have to hear you tell us. Any chance of that soon???
The joys of the orange line!
Wow....amazing finds. The sold price I saw for one of the Toynbee books was not cheap. Cheers!
Thoroughly enjoyed seeing your finds and the joy they created.

I have the Theodore Roosevelt book and have enjoyed it every time I've read it. And the paperback is holding up wonderfully.
Brattle Book Haul Bady!
I saw Well Wrought Urn when I was there! If you find his Yoknapatawpha book, save it for me…
Great show as always! Now if l cannot find a Battle book store here in LA. may jump on a plane to Boston .
Very jealous of Hannibal's Legacy. I've only ever had a ratty volume 2.
