We watch him every week and we like him. I was a driver and gained 35 pounds and while driving I lost the weight. Medicine to counteract what you're doing to yourself ain't the answer for longevity. I'm no longer driving and I can eat anything I want. I'm wanting Gly to continue showing what I always drove past and couldn't stop to see. Even saw a red orb once in Kansas.

As a fellow user of bp meds, I completely understand. I have to admit, though, I was concerned by the end of the episode last week. As soon as you started talking about tingly fingers, the profuse sweating and having trouble breathing last week, i thought for sure you were starting to get into serious trouble.Take it easy and give yourself time to adjust to the new meds. Be safe and keep up the great work.

    • @DeValiere_
      @DeValiere_ Год назад +1

Indeed. It might be of some use to get a portable BP monitor and start taking some readings to help get a picture of what's going on. Both when you're getting symptoms out and about and when you're just at rest. Might give your doctors a better picture of BP behaviour if they can see readings with an accompanying activity log for each reading. This is coming from a life long sufferer of pernicious hypertension who's about Gly's age and has to see a GP every 3 months for BP monitoring.

Gly, if you need some time off from doing the mine thing, I'm sure your faithful followers like me can understand. Maybe a new spinoff called ' riding with Gly' where you just drive around and give us the history of the area. Ghost towns. Natural formations. Trail riding. Heck, I'd be down for that. We just need you at 100 percent. I've been a fan and subscriber since episode 3. I look forward to seeing what you have in store for us every Saturday morning. Thanks for letting us tag along with you.

As a nurse and also on BP meds along with a heart condition, your health and well-being is priority numero uno! I suggest that you probably get yourself a wrist blood pressure monitor, and when you start to feel wonky, take a moment to get your blood pressure. Also, drink more water, especially with electrolytes. Your fans want to continue doing what you do best. Exploring abandon mines. Take care of yourself, Gly. We'd miss you. Be safe, trust your gut instincts, and take your time, not pushing yourself.

Exactly six days into the new prescription, he had a massive heart attack and expired. Please don’t be like him and over exert yourself until the new medicine is fully established in your system!

Gly mate, I love your explorations, I'm in the UK where Cornish tin mines riddle the county and we used to explore masses of them, usually only down to adit level because of flooding, all the timbers are rotted, totally untrustworthy and there are sections of stopes just waiting to collapse. We thought we took a lot of chances but you mate, push it to a whole new level. I wouldnt have entered that in a fit! Also mate, I love you dearly, as a person and the one thing I do NOT want to see is someone posting the goodbye video you made as you lay dying from a rockfall or more likely a heart attack. Take it easy mate, chill out for this season and recoup your strength. I'm 71 and your doing great at 51 but mate, it's only gonna get harder so be easy on yourself and let us see you enjoying life for a whole lot longer ..please.

Lots of copper mineralization there - chrysocolla, malachite, cuprite, and even a bit of azurite. That's one reason I like exploring Nevada and Arizona abandoned mines. Good to hear your meds are the problem and it's not serious. The Doc finally took me off all hypertensive meds and I feel human again !! Lose more weight, keep up a healthy fluid intake, and reduce the sodium - if you are careful and follow that info, you might hit your mid 70s too.

Instead of chucking rox, could you use a scaling bar, maybe be further away from the unstable area? Between bp, altitude and now clearing rox out of the way, no wonder you're short of breath. I haven't commented as of yet - until now, I mean. Just wanted to say you've got a hell of a series going here, Gly. Having my share of health issues, I do empathize about the blood pressure problem, though mine is normal.
I'm glad you stayed out of trouble on this one - that adit with the crumbly rock looks really treacherous. Also, being a railfan, I wanted to mention that those connector plates for rails (at 23:50) are called fishplates, as far as I remember. At least, the equivalent pieces for full-scale railroads are called that.

I’ve been patiently waiting. I’m not disappointed! Appreciate all you do, Gly. Stay safe.
I take Metoprolol, lisinopril, Plavic, extended release Nitro, Furosemide, and a plethora of others for my heart.
I had three heart attacks in 4 months in 2013. After 7 or 8 stents, I was actually doing pretty good.
Then, in March of last year I had one that made the others pale in comparison. The went in a did a double by-pass, in April of last year, I came out feeling like 20 years younger. After about 8 months, something really went wrong. I have very good days, but I have more bad days. Sometimes I pop nitro like candy. Doc says my arteries are SHOT. I now take it one day at a time.
Slow down a bit, Gly. We will still be here when you’re feeling better.
BTW, I’m 57. I worked 30+ years, usually over 80 hr weeks. My blood pressure on AVERAGE was 180/120.
Moral of the story? Take care of yourself!

I drove for 12 years and my weight hit 250 at 6' tall. My cholesterol went up so I went down in weight in only a month I lost 10 pounds while driving as I stayed out 30 days each time. I snacked all day, no nuts doing that. Morning coffee and watch the calories during the day. I always stopped at Walmarts that would let me, some that didn't. I ate a Stouffer's Cheese Lovers Lasagna at whatever time I finished driving. Once I realized I accomplished it I bought a dozen Krispy Kreme donuts and ate one a day with my coffee, yep stale at the end but I continued for another month and lost nearly 20 pounds. I can't sleep with a empty stomach either. You're neuropathy will lighten up as you feel like dancing as the weight has left your feet. It's a discipline I had as a child eating leftovers. My Dad wouldn't so I never missed a meal. We will miss you Gly, take care of yourself. I'm a few years older and the longer you wait then your body resists change.

Please take care of yourself, you have shared so many amazing experiences with us but don't risk your health. You might feel that your lifestyle and mine exploration is more important but if your health implodes it will stop you from doing anything eventually, its a rough position to be in and for those of us in that situation your videos are great as they show us the things we cant do.
Take care of yourself, have happy explorations for years to come.

I spent a month or so thinking that I was going to pass out on the bus when I started mine. Can't imagine trying to traipse around mountains during that period.

You gotta get your BP down. I'm on Lisinopril and when I hit the gym hard I can get to 132/85. Most of the time 110/70.

Hello Gly, excellent video series here with this set of mines. Next week looks awesome, can't wait to see it. I am sure it will be in several videos looking how extensive that is. Yeah taking those BP meds or any med for that matter always has it's side effects. I to had BP over the 150 mark like you and suffered from daily headaches that no amount of aspirin or Ibuprofen would cure. But I would put on Irbestartan and now I am in a normal range. Just be careful as it looks like you are doing and don't over due it. You don't have anyone else out there to look after you. Though that wouldn't be a bad idea.

Gly, Having been well acquainted with medications that have a powerful effect on you, I know exactly how you are feeling, and I can tell the way you are talking that you are quite weak right now and seeing you this way it bothers me something fierce. I can tell just by the way you are talking that you are weak and that your heart is struggling to cope with the way the medication is affecting you so please be safe and take care of yourself. take the time off you need to become fully adjusted to your new medication because being as weak as you are, mine exploring can be downright dangerous. So please, be careful and rest yourself!!!
