It'll be more affordable to get SS 86 Devastator as they're being released, instead of waiting for a boxed set. We saw with Legacy Menasor that Hasbro is charging $279.99, when all five of the Stunticons have an MSRP of around $210.
After 5 years of non stop collecting this’ll be my first significant pass on this combiner team…I’m happy with the Takara devastator…I want to complete my collection not constantly upgrading it….
I'm a little surprised the sculpts for Scrapper, Bonecrusher, and Devastator are very close to their Combiner Wars counterparts. Sure, they're scaled down, but a lot of the Combiner Wars sculpting I didn't consider to be animation accurate is still present in these SS86 demos. Scrapper's alt-mode cockpit for example. Of all the different animation models G1 had for Devastator's head, I don't quite remember which one was accurate to the 86 movie, but the Combiner Wars and SS86 models for the head look as identical as the grey-model will allow me to believe. See 10:56 to compare.
@@MandoPrime1138 Oh they're definitely improvements. I'm mainly just curious why Studio Series, which goes for screen accuracy, gave Scrapper something closer to his Combiner Wars silhouette over the on-screen design. The articulation more than makes up for it, though, and I see plenty of other improvements on the grey-model for Devastator.
I agree 100%. Sure this one is newer and is improved, but if you purchased any of the upgrade kits for your CW version it's hard to get that excited for this one. I prefer the larger size of CW. Yeah, it's not Masterpiece size, but it looks great with the smaller MPs.
Curious if they'll eventually give us a full box set or something like that of the yellow re-color for these guys, or if that's also off the table as far as a box set re-release for them
It’s confirmed that there won’t be a box set of these guys in the first year or two of their existence. So if it were to happen, probably wouldn’t be until at the very earliest 2027, and that’s being generous
i hope they fixed the scrapper problem with devastator that the combiner wars suffered from, it happen to mine and go watch Baltmatrix video for more details, it sucks and hope this one isnt plagued by it
I’m probably the only one who would want this, but a box set of the Constructicons in the colors of the bay films Constructicons would look really damn cool.
I'm sold. It may not be titan class, but as long as it properly scales with the SS86 Dinobots so I can replicate the sludge double fisted slam scene from the movie I'll be happy. LOL 😂
New 14-15” Devastator too small to fight my 86 dinobots, indvidual robots fit Legacy scale. Still got my 3rd party 18” KO Oversized Gravity Builder Devastator to take down the 86 dinobots and Titan class Omega Supream. Robot modes are ridiculously too big to fit CHUG /legacy scale, but i can accept them as some sort of race of bodybuilder transformers.
I think that 2025 will be great year. We're getting a brand new tooling for G1 Devastator, while getting a brand new Aerialbots with the Age of Primes line. So we're getting at least two Combiners in 2025.
Looks great, didn't get the CW version but I'll definitely try to get this. After this, Superion and Bruticus, I'm hoping they do a new Predaking (3 Voyagers and a Commander 2 pack of Razorclaw and Divebomb).
I’ll be waiting as I’m still very hopeful to see an official Masterpiece by Takara (now under the banner of MPG) of the 6 constructicons. They must do it and they will I’m sure. I haven’t gotten any other iterations of these other than my vintage Takara G1 figures, for that reason. I haven’t gotten into 3rd party as of yet.
I do hope going forward in Age of the Primes with Superion and eventually Bruticus, that they do the toy deco box set, especially for Bruticus, I was never a fan of the brown chest plate that the og cartoon had for him and I much preferred the big silver chest of the toy. Hopefully there's a way to get that version instead for those that prefer the toy look, especially since Bruticus has such an extreme difference between the two.
I'm going to be very busy in 2025, collecting all of the Constructicons in April, July and September next year. Depending on the Australian releases of the Constructicons
On Scrapper, no articulation in the Front Loader bucket. Scavenger as the arm, the excavator's Boom/Arm/Bucket would be better to be removable or being able to tuck in.
its essentially the CW figures, which already felt like oversized legends class figures - shrunken even more with slight retools.... And PEOPLE... people.... are eating it up.
Eh, cause I think all the Constructicons should be deluxes, AND Devastator should only be a head or so taller than other Combiners, I see this as an absolute win. Add-on that I didn't get to get CW/UW Devastator and the USKO Devastator I have, while it fits the description, it's fragile, not fun to mess with, and QC issues out the ass. That's assuming you can get it. And why not a third party Devy, like Hercules? Price and rarity, which go hand in hand, but my point stands. At least with this, it will be official, in scale, and hopefully, easily accessible. It ain't Seinfeld, but y'all had to know this was coming, and I'm glad this is the way.
He better not partsform anything other than the forearm-hand things and the jet chest thing, that was the best part of the combiner wars version was that he didnt have a ridiculous amout of useless partsforming pieces laying around when they're in their individual modes
So, six deluxe figures worth $150, but with the "up-graded" sizes class is now worth $210. All that before taxes too. Granted it looks great, but was the up grading really worth it? The originals were all a set price for all of them. No matter that a couple of them had extra parts included with them. I remember they were a dollar more than the regular that-size class toy. (A stunticon car was about $5 and a devastator vehicle was $6.) They could've released these as all deluxe class individual toys with the extra parts, but added a couple of dollars to that price point. And it would've been less than $200 for all six of them. That would've distributed the price/cost between all six of them.
Just a few thoughts. They show a finished project of Bonecrusher as Devastator's left arm, but didn't show if the arms upwards/downwards movement is from underneath his tracks or between his tracks and the bottom base of the Bulldozer? Why are they calling/labeling this SS86 when Devastator does not design wise look anything like him in the 86 Movie? Hasbro fell short in delaying him for a week and then basically showcasing a somewhat trimmed down/downsized version of the previous Devastator release. Hasbro did not have the energon cubes(balls) to get his cartoon/movie look right! Should change the name to Legacy United Devastator/Constructicons, because this is nothing close to the 86 Movie! One last point, this Devastator looks like a carbon copy of Magic Square's 2nd version of Devastator, but just a much bigger scale(Magic Square fans like me know what I'm talking about!).
Another beefy Devastator with a teeny tiny head! That is like a Deluxe or Voyager size head on a Commander or Titan size body! It looked ridiculous 10-12 years ago when they did a Devastator set and it looks even more ridiculous now! And the sizes are all off. They should all be voyager except for Long Haul. I could see him being Leader class.
Devastators “parts forming should just be made up from jobsite stuff, Forman’s portable office, storage containers, tools, extra equipment like a wrecking ball etc miscellaneous similar to a “baseformer” like omega supreme.
They should be parts of the individual robots. Scrapper's and Bonecrusher's treads should transform into the forearms, Long Haul's bed should transform into the chest wing and the head should be stored inside Hook. Only the hands should be separate pieces, and they should transform into a pair of large blasters like the hands in Perfect Effect's CW Menasor upgrade kit.
Still don't have a Breakdown. No more Combiners for me, can't trust distribution. Besides, the Combiner I already have makes much more sense - he's huge, as combined construction equipment would be!
i ve looked up and down on these reveals and im still disappointed in devastator. he is def super small in comparison to optimus and next to 86 dinobots i feel it will look worse. for ss86 line the articulation is great and more details is an improvement, but we looking at a massive price point for everything that is all deluxes with some accessories...this seems like a big miss when we finally see the end result and pricing after all the dodging they did with this figure for like 2 months. been wanting them to really knock it out of the park on this just feels like a dropped ball in a year with some wins and a lot of misses by the transformers department in comparison to their other IPs. at least magatronus was a good reveal.
My opinion, but i dont think bonecrusher looks good at all the price point between these 2 besides the materials and devys gun doesn't sit well with me at all. Again just my opinion
Does Legacy Menasor (and SS86 Devastator) scale with SS86 Optimus and Ultra Magnus? I always thought the combiners were way bigger than “normal” transformers in terms of scale. It looks like the top of Optimus’ head reached the bottom of Devastator!s crotch. Is Optimus too big? Thanks!
