Haven't made wine in several years. We use the same glass jars and placed them underground in a cellar. Now I want to make wine again next year when our grapes come in.
The process is coming along nicely. Remember what they say Drink No Wine Before It’s Time. It will get better with age. It’s nice to see the excitement that you both are sharing.
you can bury one of the limbs and wait on roots to form on the branch, then cut it off and replant it some where else . Make sure to do it on your vines that produce the most fruit.
I don't know anything about wine. I don't normally drink. I have one on my birthdat, at Christmas, at news years and st. Paddy's day. That's it! So this is fun watching you and Kim make it. Much love from So.Cal.💟
Good for you lady, I myself drink too much beer. It's not a good thing, but I'm working on it. Deer season helps me tone it down because it's more time with family. We hunt and I don't want to diminish time with family or hurt their success or mine.
Nice I just started a scuppernogn myself. Then started a muscadine/ scuppernogn mix. I'm excited also. Everything looking good. Can't wait for part 3. One more thing. I used this clearing agent called dualfine you'll be surprised of the clearness it brings. Thanks for the video.
LOL i made wine once in the late 70s early 80s there was a recipe that you took and put grape juice yeast sugar add water and put it in a 5 gallon water bottle yeah the type that you put in those water fountain things and you put one of those punching balloon on top and seal it around the balloon will blow up and then when it deflates the wine is done. i kept it in our closed in carport in florida and my mom had just put in sheer curtains on a window that led to the living room i came home from work and she said that balloon starting to look really big and i told her what that it had to go up and then go back down and wine would be ready the next day i came home put the key in the lock and i smelt wine i opened the door the balloon had blown up and there was purple dots all over the walls the ceiling the cabinets and my mother's brand new sheer curtains. that was the most expensive wine i ever drank and made because i had to replace her curtains and they were expensive. LOL i hope your wine turns out better🍷✌💖💪👨🍳🎅🚌👍
You can check it with the hydrometer when it comes in. I have found mixing our wine 50/50 with Sprite is really good. I'm not a wine drinker, but I like it like that. Cuts the alcohol down a bit. We ended up ordering bottles corks and a corker. I made labels for the bottles. Was really fun.
I have a small Muscadine orchard and I'm going to try to make a little wine this year, even though I rarely ever drink alcohol. I have the black Muscadines and the gold Muscadines. The black or purple ones taste a little tart but sweet, the gold ones are nothing but sweet.
So if you decide to start making bigger batches, get a full size wine bucket which is 7.5 gallons and a 7.5 carboy which will yield approximately 6 gallons of finished wine or 30 bottles
I would suggest putting your wine in a nice dark place to ferment and age. I use a closet and an old wardrobe to store my wine. Don't really worry too much about the alcohol taste, most "green" wine will have a strong taste but will mellow out with time. But I would continue with "over sanitizing"! Better to safe than sorry. Also if you want to cut down on the amount of times you rack, I would make sure that your siphon is well above the sediment cake to keep the amount of sediment to a minimum.
On the red wine we made last year we got a hydrometer reading of between 1.5 and 1.55 on the juice. After we added sugar, similar to the amount you added per gallon, we averaged a specific gravity of 1.91. We started it on Dec 9, 2020 and bottled it on June 19, 2021 so 7 months prior to bottling. Final specific gravity was .992 so around a 13.45% alcohol. Our reds wind up "drier" than our whites. I keep pretty detailed records but they seldom help as every batch is different. Gallo I am not. Watermelon wine is currently aging. I'll be heading to Newnan in a week or so and will trade you a few bottles of wine for some fresh muscadines. Mine have played out early this year.
My husband and I are looking into making some muscadine wine and came across your video. You did a great job explaining the process. We are looking forward to trying it. We are also from Georgia. What area are you from?
Hey Shane, looks like you got quite a bit 👍. We sent ours out to be tested and they told us it was close to a Brandy😰. Maybe that's why yours is so warming? You Two are becoming wino's AHahahahaha! JO JO IN VT 💕😄
Shane don't forget you can catch channel cats eating Muscadines dropping in the water by using them as bait. I may have mentioned this before I got canceled.

Dog gone it Shane I am going to have to quit watching your videos!!🤣Now you have me wanting to get into whine making. My question, when you went to move your whine into your carriers(sp). Can you just funnel the wine with a strainer or filter from your bucket into your carrier? Great series of videos. I just found your Pineapple whine video. That video answered my question .
Thumbs up from the Dooley's of Michigan

Wine looks good. I saw on fb Marketplace someone was selling Muscodine grapes. They ship them too. I have never had them. Maybe one day.

Just saying... You should look for a small scree type grape/wine press 🍷❤🇺🇸👌🎥
😂 wine press darn auto correct
We have one
My father in law made good wine LOL drank about pint one night and legs did not won't to corporate
maybe get it all out and use a cheesecloth to squeeze out the extra juice make sure you dont put too much scum in the glass bottle have fun hugsssss
Maybe try some with 1/2 of ea grapes mixed together.
Sounds interesting
Did u keep the cap punched down
Once a day I open and push it down and give a little stir

I guess you can but time is the best to let it settle out and be really clear
those glass bottles are small...... like hooch bottles lol......... ive seen ones about 3 plus feet high and wide lol
1 gallon jars
First!
BooM
Use your Hydrometer 1.096
Lol I can't figure that thing out. But working on it
Put it in a dark room or closet, or cover with a old towel, light is the worst thing in the world for wine
Really appreciate the tips. Im so addicted to this wine making
