actually kinda same here , our professsor asked us to describe the book that inspired us the most , the picture of dorian gray is my favourite bt i've read it long time ago , i wanted to watch the movie so i can remmember the plot
"the actor was so dark mysterious and handsome. Sort of Dracula like." Well, his lips are a young man's equivalent of those of Angelina Jolie. Hahaha. Handsome indeed.
Exceptional acting by all of the actors . The story defines a great deal of what is happening today in our world . For example self admiration and addiction to greed and lust a really wonderful play . It could be possible for us to learn from this play . Oscar Wilde was such a remarkable writer and so incomparable . Well done Oscar .🤙🤙🤙🤙
I can't. I know this was supposed to be like serious and all, but I found it so funny! Like the faces you guys make are the best! I am a bit disappointed that you followed the trend and didn't make Dorian blonde that he was in the book, but this one is still cute af
It’s a pity...but once you’ve seen the 1940’s “original”, just nuttin else will do! 🙋♀️ but TYSM for posting this new version......God bless all 💜✝️✡️🙋♀️🙏
Actually only as long as the book if you cut out all of the Wilde struggling with his sexuality in an oppressive social context. The book would have been good if he would have just followed the plot, it's like he thinks every sentence he says deserves to be immortalized.
The main difference is in the book sybil's brother dies in a hunting accident instead. Dorian's friend is shooting rabbits and shoots the guy by accident because he was secretly stalking Dorian.
I know it’s been two years but I highly recommend you reading the book. It’s truly a masterpiece. It’s also very short and in my opinion very enjoyable to read! ☺️
Been obsessed with this character since The League of Extrordinary Gentlemen. I have a tattoo of the etching of Vlad Teppes, an omache to the man and the myth
There’s always artistic license used and dramatisation to make it interesting. Haven’t read the book but have watched a good British adaptation. I’m only in the first minutes and I’m stopping watching because it’s set in America and he was Irish and lived in Britain.
Most of the characters in this movie are mainly family members and friends of the film makers and have never worked as actors before, they are not schooled, most have never taken acting or drama lessons. I think when you consider this, you will see that they did a very good job and definitely no worse than many of the aspiring actors in low budget movies - people who have taken acting lessons and have been working to break through in the film industry for years or decades. Furthermore these actors have had at least one, but often several jobs as extras and have therefore been able to familiarize themselves with how things work on a movie set as well as when being directed and filmed on location. They are people who live and breath for everything to do with acting and their lives often revolve around all that has to do with it. The 'actors' in this movie have lives outside of the roles they play in the movie, they have families and jobs that they must keep while acting in their spare time. So personally I would like to say: Well done, Nieuwenhuis, to you, to your family and to your friends and their families. Best wishes for your future within the industry as well as for being able to maintain a happy life besides. :)
The director and producer do not seem to be clear on the setting of the story, 19th, 20th, 21st century? 37:29-42 and 56:42-44 show images of early 2000 model vehicles; then 45:42-54 has the 19th/20th century typewriter! Are these the details they overlooked?

Male actors are not 'cute'!
They are handsome, adorable or bedable!!!!!
The classic Dorian Gray is really good. And the actor was so dark mysterious and handsome. Sort of Dracula like. ⭐⭐⭐⭐
Which film was that one?
The original, 1945 version. I have seen the one from 2009 and it was darker. I've watched it once and never watched it again.

"the actor was so dark mysterious and handsome. Sort of Dracula like." Well, his lips are a young man's equivalent of those of Angelina Jolie. Hahaha. Handsome indeed.
I've watched Dorian Grey in the early 80s. The one featured by Micheal York. That is way2 better than this one

The person playing Dorian is quite convincing, but the acting is like a high school play. This seems like an indie production done on a 5,000 budget.
Totally agree!
It’s therapeutic for Me that he’s such a bad actor as a narcissist abuse survivor I love how this version makes Dorian a bit ridiculous

You are welcome! Hope you were entertained a little too! Cheers ✌️
Oscar Wilde was a funny, cheeky fella. 😄
The actors are too stiff and tense. The actors need to relax, make the speech flow more naturally.
They're English not American. Lol
He's not talking about accent or ethnicity, nor where they are from. They are too stiff, It's unnatural. This is about the acting.
Unnatural common sense as per Henry
Actually only as long as the book if you cut out all of the Wilde struggling with his sexuality in an oppressive social context. The book would have been good if he would have just followed the plot, it's like he thinks every sentence he says deserves to be immortalized.

Oh my gosh they are just reading the book, aren't they?
Just about :)
They are VERY young actors doing their best. The scenery is an ordinary house. I suspect, they are students making their own production.
Most of the characters in this movie are mainly family members and friends of the film makers and have never worked as actors before, they are not schooled, most have never taken acting or drama lessons.
