I have really enjoyed this whole sew-along! One question I have as I try to finish up - my lining fabric ended up a little skewed while I was wrestling the original quilt sandwich through my machine, so if I clip the binding back over to top stitch I'll have a gap. I can hand stitch the binding like on a quilt to cover the gap and it will look fine aesthetically, but does the bag need that extra seam going through the gusset and front/back for strength?
Thanks for the kind comments about the sewalong! I'm so glad you've enjoyed making the Doable Duffel. ❤ I think it's important for structural reasons to have the second line of stitching attaching the front / back to the gusset. I'm not sure what you mean by a gap, but could the situation be fixed by re-doing the stitching that attaches the binding fabric to the front (or back)?
@matantequilting it's a 10ish cm line where you would see the soft and stable beside the binding. Maybe I can patch over a little more lining and then do the top stitch through to help support. At least it's on the inside!
@@stephenandkaylabaerg660 Aha, I see! If it's just cosmetic (and on the inside) I wouldn't worry about it too much. Either use the patch as you suggest, or simply do a bit more stitching over top of the binding (on your existing stitch line) and then hand stitch it over to cover the gap. I was worried it was a section where the two pieces were literally not attached to each other. Seeing a bit of Soft & Stable is much less serious! 😆
What a great bag!! ❤❤
Thank you so much! I loved designing it! ❤
I love your tutorial, thank you ❤
You are so welcome! ❤
Thanks for the extra help in finishing this duffle - this is my second one - wish I had watched these with my first😅
Well, I'm glad you have access to the videos now!! Happy bag making!
It looks great! The outer fabric is reminding me of elbow macaroni noodles!😂 so cute❤
Oh yes, I've been calling the fabric Neon Noodles for ages. 😂
I must say, I liked sewing this bag with the foam batting. My old Singer did a good job.
That's awesome to hear! Thanks for sharing. ❤️
