    Just found your channel. Cool stuff. Your 30 coupe is sweet. Driving old hot rods is a driving experience some people will never understand. Not the safest or very practical for the mega family minivan drivers but they check all the boxes in the connection the operator has with the road and just the overall feeling of freedom they provide and the owners self expression and personal taste. They are NOT for everyone...and that's a good thing.

    awesome-o! congrats on a running car. I'm workin on a '47 Ford pickup 2 ton might of been 2.5 ton not sure. Anyways, going to get a new frame for the foundation and cut the bed between 20 and 22 inches. That eight foot bed is to long. I'm keepin the flathead though going with a 5 speed t5. 4" drop axle in the front and putting the rear axle on top of the springs. Wish me luck brother.

    • @ThisOldHotrod
      @ThisOldHotrod  4 года назад

      Thanks Andy. I’m glad most of you guys appreciate the work. Fenders were required back when the car was built. Rears were optional. Fronts were mandatory. He had lots of issues with the police with the car in the 70’s early on. Lots of “fix it” tickets he said. Nice nowadays not so much

      @@ThisOldHotrod Right on! And I believe them type front defenders came off old harley davidson motorcycles I think. They was cool. And that's awesome and yeah my great uncle was a street rodder from the middle 60s and even still builds them today and he always had the ol fix it tickets too. Haha! The good ol days!!

    • @ThisOldHotrod
      @ThisOldHotrod  4 года назад

      Andy Smith these are spare tire covers that guys cut to make fenders. Pretty common to use 1935/36 Ford spare tire rings. They’re wider than the earlier models A and B rings.

    • @andysmith7554
      @andysmith7554 4 года назад

      @@ThisOldHotrod oh awesome. That's cool. I didn't know that was spare tire covers cut down. I know some guys back then used sometimes old harley davidson defenders too. That's why I thought it might have been. Haha! But that's awesome tho. Hey you don't a website to order from or maybe a round about price to get a set of them old chrome reverse wheels??????

    • @ThisOldHotrod

      Andy Smith wheel vintique makes them to order. Any size, style and bolt pattern. Any back spacing you need also.
      They’re about $200 per wheel.

    What do these cars weigh ? Must have to careful when your grabbing gears. Nice to see you driving them

    • @ThisOldHotrod
      @ThisOldHotrod  3 года назад

      I guess it depends on how the car is built and the drivetrain. But on average is say 1700-2000 pounds. Maybe higher with all the “fixings”.
      The 30 coupe cab get out of control quick if you’re not careful.
      I’m expecting the 34 Coupe to be the same if not worse with the hopped up Olds motor.
