- Remembering the Roosevelt Grill: The Manassas Jazz Festival November 26, 1983. Vic Dickenson, Trombone Larry Weiss, Cornet Dill Jones, Piano Steve Jordan, Guitar Bob Decker, Bass Ernie Hackett, Drums
What a nice clip. Thank you for putting this up. He could both sing and play the trombone beautifully.
Great Vic! Obviously they were recreating the atmosphere of the days when Vic played with Bobby Hackett at NYCs Roosevelt Grill. I have the recordings. The cornet replacement for Bobby is unknown to me, I will have to check him out--- he sounded great! (Larry Weiss)
A rare chance to see the great Steve Jordan in action.
Great trombonists sometimes make great singers especially if they have the wit and timing of Vic or Big T
Wow, this is great! thanks for posting!!!!
Estupenda interpretación, muchas gracias por compartirla.
"... be with you just one hour tonight?" Okay, Vic, in our age, we get modest. After all, we might fall asleep,,,.
this had to be one of his last performances, he died a year later
Ha! Did the trombonist just shut down an extended cornet solo?
No.
Larry Weiss is strongly influenced by Bobby Hackett's style.
