    Thank you for all this update. This is very important for major decision-making. It is clear to me that most of these bridges are not wide enough or high enough to allow the massive volume of water whenever Jamaica has a depression as the recent one. To me all those bridges and road must be at least 4 feet higher and 2 times the current width!

    Listening to you talking about the breadfruit tree in the gully. I shake my head every time I listen to the Jamaican radio app and someone mention how kids in Jamaica are suffering from malnutrition, I laugh to myself. When I use to live in Jamaica you could pick fruits from the street side, breadfruit, ackee anything, when I visit home it's the same, but give them a dollar they're at burger king or KFC. But i think some persons are just politicize everything because I never knew hungry until I live in the USA.

    Poor quality work from our local contractors 😮😮😮😮 sad

      @patrickperrin8194 9 месяцев назад

      Don't blame the contractors. Re-engineering is needed.
      All newly constructed highways should be examined and remedial actions taken.
      A similar problem surfaced in Clarendon recently.

      @@patrickperrin8194 I will stand by what I have said I am in construction more than 2 decades now off the island of Jamaica doing from pipe laying , roads building you name it . Poor quality is the cause with no oversight and proper engineering skills being implemented

    The mouth of the bridge needs to open wider and properly aligned

    When you design a major drainage system, you must incorporate into the design the natural path of flood water flow to the sea. It is obvious that the exit path of the water was too high in elevation, resulting in silt and gravel build-up at low areas, creating a build-up of debris under the bridge. The bridge is adequate in size. The flood water was not able to flow uninterrupted to the sea carrying silt/gravel along the way. This was the main contributor to all the water damage.

    Bottom line the design for these roads just did not allow for this amount of rain fall.
    On finish section of the 4 lane highway the Chinese contractor had to go back and dig up finish section to put in additional drainage culverts.
    The engineers just haven’t taken into their design the knowledge of the local residents regarding the watercourse that appears during heavy rains. For years these watercourses are dry and only come into use when we have hurricanes and tropical depression.

    Being an engineer the highway has contributed to much of these flooding. I would suggest that the government relocate these low lined town and returned to the drawing board and see were they went wrong.

    Look at the alignment of the bridge and the actual river itself . Should be river training to align to the bridge and put in a groyne (groin)

    This will happen again. The bridge needs to be raised and the distribution source above needs to be rectified. The house is built too close to the river. I am sure that the MP knew about these problems.

    The Rpach Gully area especially the bridge is compromised because nothing was initially dine to protect the surrounding edges. Hmm!

    Drone View JA, thanks for the update. I'm curious to see if that interchange for the new highway in May Pen held up without damage during the flood rains. That area is a known flood area.

    thanks for showing us this update. Honestly Roach gully drains did ok for the most part except the area around the bigger bridge which I can understand since it weren't finished before this weather but I hope they use these damages to sort out there to suit the water run offs.

    Since the bridge is already completed, I would think that they could still be able to dig out under it and make it deeper, so that if there are future downpours, it should, hopefully, be able to handle them. What are those pipes for? They look like something that you would use on your property. Not to bring water to a whole community. If this place couldn't handle such heavy rain, what would've happened if it was a hurricane?
    Those black pipes in Roach Gully held up well. That's what they need in Lyssons. This bridge has held up really well also. But look at the difference in size. Work need to be redone in Roach Gully, but for the most part, it is looking fine. But they need to deal with all the gravel man. When water carry them, they do a lot of damage. When you consider that this is the first layer of asphalt, bigup to S & G, because it could have been so much worst. Bro, you went through a good workout to bring us this update. Bigup to you for your great work. Much respect.

    No curb walls or cur and channels to lock the edges of the road. Poor planning and lack of insight. Tax- payers pay exorbitantly again.

    f the flood waters are properly distributed, then there needs to be no flooding. There are drains and gullies that were either compromised or not built due to lack of insight or negligence. The government agencies are too reactive. They don't believe in or practice preparation.

    Is not only that the bregge is low the gully is shallow not wide enough and deep enough and if you look the inlet thy should be very wide and high

  • @rhf457
    @rhf457 9 месяцев назад

    they need to build a wider retaining wall to coral the water before it go under the bridges a you can see the water do much erosion at that point.

    • @droneviewja
      @droneviewja  9 месяцев назад +1

      They did not build any wall to protect the edges so the water will eat away from the edges.

    Excellent, "Julian/Drone View" excellent! Thank you for this informational and documentary video vlog! This video is amazing, funny how destructive "water" can be but nevertheless we need it because we cannot live without it! "(70%)" of our body is water. "(3/4)" of our planet is water! But come to think of it sometimes we have no control over it!!!🌎🏞🌅🌄👀
