I, along with some other people, am not a brand snob. Some brands do stuff better then others. Some people have a loyalty to a certain brand. That's fine, whatever. But come on, y'all would think after so many years, Mark knows what he's talking about. And you would think it's a good thing he doesn't just stick to one brand. As he said, yes Traxxas is a short drive from his house! If I lived that close, I'd be there all the time too!! If there was giant (insert brand name here) store near your house, you'd be there too. Keep doing what you're doing Mark!! 🤘 Don't worry about folks complaining!
No matter how heated these discussions can get we all need to understand that we are very fortunate to be be able to even have them! The fact that Arrma joined the race and took a company behemoth like Traxxas head on is ultimately beneficial to EVERYONE. Competitors like Traxxas and Arrma or Tekno and TLR will always drive each other further down the innovation line.
companies don't drive each other forward if they want to get bitchy over "patents" and sue each other over money, like the Traxxas v Arrma incident over the Forza/Nero "patented" inboard/cantilever shock configuration
Ever since I got my hands on my Kraton EXB I thought it looked and handled more like a truggie now I understand why. Thanks Mark for the clarification👏👍
I've been in this hobby since 86. I get what you're saying about the MT class. I started out a Traxxas guy- but for me, I switched to Arrma when the RTR price point was basically cheaper than a new E-Revo. I got the same ground clearance, power and size and Arrma was more durable. That being said, I don't know why everyone got so reved up over your review. That was about the most impartial vent from a racer who is usually a Traxxas guy. Hats off to you man.
I have over 60 rc's, Traxxas, Arrma, Losi etc. When people walk in to my garage the first question they have, after questioning my sanity, is always "which one is your favorite?" My answer "my next one." Every rc is Rad!
Thoughts from a recent returner to the hobby… I spent 30 years away from rc cars. Got back into it about 3 months ago, so I absolutely prefer to know what to expect “straight outta the box” with any car, without any mods to it. Sure, I want to know what I can do it as well, but that’s what upgrade tutorials & youtube playlists are for. Unboxings need to be a box stock, newbie friendly review video. That greatly improves the odds that they make an informed purchase regarding their goals for any rc. Each local hobby shop in my area takes more than an hour, just to get to, so for me, a single lhs trip kills an afternoon. If I had *ANY* brand with a physical location “just down the street”, 90% of my rc’s would be from that manufacturer. Lastly, you’re one of my favorite rc channels on youtube. Keep doin’ what you do. A lot has changed since back in the day when my 80’s Tamiya was state of the art. I’ve learned a ton from your vids and I really appreciate it. 👍
This is why I like watching your channel! Your comments are honest from what you experienced wrenching on a rc. I don’t own a traxas but like your channel because your info on rc’s are from your hands on knowledge and experience wrenching and modifying. Keep up your awesome work informing us on your rc experiences and knowledge. 👍👍
Did not know that the difference was where the differentials were placed, Good to know. I always thought of a Monster Truck as a pick up Truck style body.
Great job. As person who just got into the hobby like a year or two ago, not knowing all the ins and outs of the hobby. It is good to get the comparisons and insight you provide as a new person getting into the hobby. Just entering you will never know all the tricks to improve and work on them. You do a great job, keep it up. Besides got my first ERevo 2.0 watching your video on it awhile back..
Thank for clearing that up. Never knew that about the diff above and below chassis. I wouldn't call anything with a spoiler a monster truck but that's just me. Good video👊
Totally fair points, I built my exb with rtr spektrum electronics and it was underwhelming. Did some tuning like what was suggested in the last video and it’s an animal now. Also for anyone to know you’re racing background and think you don’t know about oil weights or punch settings is just silly.
I was around when we were running monster truck. Traxxas Revo and TMaxx, Associated MGT, Tamiya TNX, Losi LST, HPI Savage.. awesome times. That was back when the nitro MT classes were separated by engine size. Small block (less than .21) and big block (.21 and over).
Another awesome video. Always look forward to the videos. People will always complain. Rc racing and bashing/climbing is enjoyable. We as a rc community should stick together and be positive. This hobby is amazing can't see myself doing anything else. Even after 20 years of doing this I still get excited and love getting a new car. Who doesn't love a new car, truck, plane, boat. Keep being awesome and keep killing it with the videos
Both platforms have an insane amount of upgrades & aftermarket support. Most of it is unneeded if you lightly bash them. BUT, more metal will weigh the trucks down, effecting both performance & handling. Even the toughest 7075 parts can bend & break under enough stress. For the Kraton, I added a HD wing mount, aluminum bulkheads, center diff case, center brace holders, hinge pin holders, & hubs. For the E-Revo, I did chassis braces, tie rods/ends, RPM arms, & hubs. Neither have RTR electronics. Both have max8 equivalent systems. The most important thing for the Kraton is keeping the chassis from bending. For the E-revo, it's keeping the bulkheads from flexing/breaking & keeping debris out of them.
I have always been a Traxxas person since the 90’s but Arrma does have some impressive rc cars. I have the Vendetta pretty nice Rc car. Both brands are good.👍🏻
Great job Mark! I love both Arrma and Traxxas. Traxxas is without a doubt king of part support that alone means a lot to us guys that have been in the hobby since 1990's. As far as comparing the 2 it is a shame you are not able to compare the revo to the nero that Arrma once sold! Both brands are awesome and i will continue to purchase both. It would be nice to see Arrma be able to bring back the Nero!
Keep doing you bro. I grew up with Traxxas, have a modified 2.0 revo and a EXB talion. Only 2 6s rigs i use anymore. Both are fantastic fun. Talion takes the corners faster but the revo handles uneven terrain better. Some spots feel better with certain trucks so I take em both. I've owed every revo platform to date but I can't take away how damn good arrma platforms handel underspeed and can live through mishaps to do it again.
Great video Mark. I like both Arrma and Traxxas. They're both great brands. I'm a RC fan boy. BTW, rotate your motor a quarter turn to the left and your wires will sit and look a lot cleaner. That's how the motor is mounted on the Arrma Kraton RTR.
I don't know why some are so sensitive about RC cars lol. Keep doing your thing love your videos!! I have both Traxxas and Arrma vehicles and I enjoy both brands, they both make good, fun RCs.
🤣 I was waiting for this video after reading all those comments. I was thinking to myself, come on man you really think Mark don't know this lol. I've always appreciated the out of the box testing because you're exactly right, not everyone is going to know how things could be set up to make them run the best they can and the majority will just start driving as is and never know any better.
Thank you Mark for this video, same here been with rc cars for almost 40 years. And you nailed it 100% IMO. 🥰. And ofc i have both, and believe it or not, the ERevo are the one that break less.
I’m back into the Rc hobby after being away for like 15 years, because of you. Thanks for that. Why are some people such babies about some things? guys, it’s a toy Rc car! Calm down and just go have fun. Well said mark!
I don't usually comment but just wanna say I subscribed for a reason. I didn't know what classified a monster truck and it's cool to learn something new. I appreciate your honest reviews and this has become my favorite RUclips channel for rc.
I agree 100% with you on the truggy and monster trucks , I gave Kraton 8s and the X Maxx . Two completely different trucks but both great truck. In the end, what makes you smile is all that counts!
Mark, you're the man. Been watching your videos for about a year. Ain't stopping anytime soon. Like the fact that you keep it real bro. Stay blessed and safe, much love from Bakersfield Ca.
Hey mark, I just want to say that I really love your videos and appreciate your passion for the hobby. Sadly there will always be people that are unhappy with opinions. What makes me sad is when people take that hate/negativity to heart. I just wanted to say that I hope you keep being you and keep spreading the love of the hobby. Don’t let the negativity impact you at all. Keep on rocking Mark!
Unfortunately the ‘bashing’ community is quite toxic, full of very unintelligent individuals The Brits with their nitro buggy’s are quite classy, always see respectful helpful comments on their forums, rarely encounter negative crap regarding which brand is the best etc Arrma & Traxxas are both excellent vehicles for bashing, absolutely love my 2.0 ERevo and my outcast 6s We who enjoy this great hobby are lucky to have such a great selection to choose from Cheers for your nice comment sir and cheers Mark for all your efforts regarding your channel, between yourself, aussie rc playgrounds, razor rc, ready set rc, kev, rich, outsourced etc I’m a very happy RUclips viewer Thank you 👍🏻
I’m new to the rc community well fairly new I bought my first hobby grade rc almost two years ago and I never understood this in the rc community and it baffles me because there is so many sweet rcs out there and to only stick to one brand is ridiculous unless youre like mark and literally every thing you need is down the street with no wait for restocking then yeah i would be the same way but thanks mark for explaining yourself to all the babies
Nice video Mark. Lovin the honesty. I have several brands in my rc collection, including Wl toys and ftx. Love em all. Rc's are so much fun. Thanks for sharing. John.
Inggit lang sila sa iyo bossing, huwag mo sila pansinin. Learning alot from your videos, i love 'em, very helpful for noobs like me. Mabuhay! More power and Keep on rollin'!
Hey Mark hope you're doing well and everything is treating you right. I know you don't mean to but you are known as a mega traxxas fan, you compare everything else vs a traxxas car. You want to please your subs that's fine, I can respect that. I do enjoy your videos and I like the content you have. I'm glad you aren't to bothered about silly comments and negativity there's too much of that going around.
We all will have fun on the Hobby. If you like Arrma , drive Arrma. If you like Traxxas, drive Traxxas. It doesn't matter. Go out drive it and have fun. All the best from Germany.
Was thinking about one of the two mentioned... Ordered the Kraton today, and will be here next week. I had my monster truck, wish I would have kept it... Traxxas Sledgehammer! That was a real monster truck, with dual shocks and tons of ground clearance, and just a blast to drive. Our stampede is ok but damn! the sledgehammer was just so much cooler. Keep it real.
Revo is such a fun car to drive! However, you also have to enjoy fixing things when it breaks. I love driving my E-Revo 2.0....I can't decide on which arrma I NEED to get 😆
It’s my favourite vehicle the 2.0 ERevo, I purchased a second one used and dedicated it for street use I also have a outcast v2 6s Personally the fact you already own a 2.0 ERevo I’d get an outcast, it’s so much fun even for small backyards, climbing fences flipping etc, just run it on 4s Just thoroughly educate yourself regarding differential shimming etc if you haven’t already No rc is perfect besides Tekno MT410 and most require further money spent on them, servos, ally buckles braces etc I have 16 vehicles, some are my kids being grave diggers-stampede and recently bought them the latest hpi jumpshot mt flux which for anyone wondering is a great little overpowered machine 😂 I have the vxl rustler 4x4, big rock v3 etc but the 2.0 ERevo just got me instantly, I love it’s tidy clever layout, quick release body and the drivetrain is solid The latest exb outcast 6s looks amazing I think if I was shopping for 1/5 I’d go with the outcast 8s exb over the xmaxx Anyways sorry I rant on, try a outcast mate you won’t regret it 👍🏻
Great video you nailed it. I was tempted to skip this one thinking, "You can't really even compare the 2", but you said it right, Kraton is a truggy, yet it is a MONSTER of a truck hahahahah. This is super educational for folks who weren't rc'ing back in the day :) My favorite truggy back in the day, was a modified Nitro vspec with extended hubs and some Associated monster truck tires. Keep having fun and again great job !!!!! I love both my Traxxas and Arrma vehicles, No discrimination here LOL. Another thing you touched on that people forget, is when I break one of my Traxxas vehicles I literally laugh, as I know I have 6 options within a 30 min drive and they will all likely have the needed parts in stock. When I break one of my favorite Arrma cars/trucks I want to cry knowing if I dont have the parts in my toolbox in stock, I may not be enjoying this bad boy for a while. Maybe it's just where I live, but it can sometimes take months to get needed parts for some of my Arrma stuff. In the end it's all about fun, and this can affect how much fun you are having :) Cheers everyone
Your videos are very informative for the NEW person or even Sr. Vet’s in the Hobby. YOU KEEP DOING WHAT YOU’RE DOING. YOU DO YOU. HATERS will and are going to be HATERS. Keep up the Great 👍🏼 videos. 🤙🏼🤙🏼🤙🏼🤙🏼
Ya mark everyone has a reason for what they have. I mostly have traxxas but my hobby shop carries a huge parts supply for them. But my son got an arrma senton and i think it is a blast ti drive. I am not brand loyal either. One of my first cars was a tamiya tl01 which i still have. Started out with planes then moved to cars. All of them are fun to ride. Thanks for your videos.
Also originally for Mt racing there was no center diff if I recall. Guys used to take the og revo 2.2 (before erevo) and put a center diff in them which then made them run in the unlimited monster truck class which is what later developed into the truggy class as guys converted buggys to run in the umt class.
I'm not a huge Traxxas fan, I own a couple and they're great for people who have a hobby shop nearby. Personally, I prefer my Arrmas but they are also not without their own issues, and require a certain level of experience and investment of time and money to get to what I consider to be a reliable state. All RCs are like that. I think everything you said in this video is pretty spot-on. Kratons are truggies. Its a fact.
Love the info, love your love of bringing the content and sharing YOUR opinion and experience about the hobby with your viewers. And most of all love the family orientation brotha!! Keep doing you. 😎🤟🏼
Great video, thanks for explaining the whole diff height thing! I've always thought the Kraton was a more truggy than MT, but why do people get all butthurt over that? That's the truth, and the truth is just what kind of car it is!
I enjoy your vids! I'm a former Racer now basher! Keep doing what you're doing! Keep enjoying the hobby. I spent more on my Kraton than I ever have on any other RC! Aaarrrggg !!!!! My E-Revo just keeps on running but I use it for what I think it is intended for. I use all my RC's for what I want too. I try to enjoy the hobby
I’m not even a year old in this hobby and I already knew the kraton was a truggy just by looking at it and I have said this before and someone actually pushed me over it
Good point. Keep up your product reviews the way you do them. As you said it's more for newcomers. That is what its about getting more newcomers. The rest of the enthusiast have there opinion and mind made up for the most part.
I enjoy all your videos and opinions. My local hobby shop mainly stocks arrma and Traxxas so that’s what I mainly run. I have both of those trucks, they both have there strong and weak points, but I absolutely love them both. Your spot on about the kraton out of the box. I had to thicken the center diff to help out with backflips and air control. The e revo I had to do a little more with rpm arms, axles and a new power system. They are both keepers.
Mark I'm with you I've had Traxxas since I was a kid! platinum Revos all the Traxxas stuff! But the thing is I even admit that the kraton platforms are a leg up on the Traxxas trucks and I own both... What do I take out more often?? Not my e Revo 2.0 I take my kraton 8s why because it's easier to work on that's it. People need to do research on an rc imo mark. I knew you knew but box stock was the way to do your vid imo. You rock bro!! Hope to meet ya someday
The Revo is fun but it is an older model these days. The Kraton is on it's 5th version and now it finally is super dope with out a bunch of mods. I sold me Revo and focused on my Kraton's. Still if I had the money would pick a Revo up because it is a fun truck when you do not push it to the limits.
never had a full size e revo buy my first RC car that got me into the hobby was 1/16 E revo VXL a few years ago and i think traxxas does something really well and arrma does things really well
You are spot on as far as classification, I agree pending on any change (other than marketing by manufacturer). I currently own an Arrma Big Rock V3 3s MT and it's also little more than an overgrown truggy. Are they tough? Yes, but that doesn't make them a MT. I had a Losi 8t truggy (yes the OG), it was a tough basher as well, as an extremely competent racer, but it wasn't a monster truck. I also had a E converted Revo (with a Gorilla chassis and OG Emaxx transmission), this thing broke more pieces than any other truck i ever had, Be it diffs bulks arms Bodt Mounts i broke every traxxas part except the Emaxx transmission. But the revo back then wasn't built for 6s Lipo, it was designed for the small block nitro racing that was popular back then. I am also not a brand Snob, I plan to get a stampede 2wd next truck i get, because that was the most fun I ever had, back in the day
Marc I agree with you 100%. I own Arrma, Traxxas, and Losi my next Truck will be the new MAXX and I can’t wait to get it. Now I’ll, admit brandwise I’m an Arrma fanboy in fact I have 5. For me they are easy to work on and bash well my Traxxas and Losi are for lighter bashing and jumping and they do just fine. I have to drive 70 miles to my LHS and that’s each way I would love to live that close, I’d actually probably work there. Point is we all love the hobby and this is really the same iOS vs Android garbage with wheels. We all need to chill sometimes. Good video!
I'm glad you have the balls to make this video and make a good point, I have an Arrma Senton 3S(Technically 4S since i put a 125 amp ESC in it) and I love that thing, don't get me wrong, It has broken on my many times, I agree with everything that you said in this vid, great job too my brother
Thank you for all you do for the RC world, all my RC's are arrmas and i love them , though its what i started with and what hooked me on the hobby. My girst rc eas a typhon 3s . That was only a year ago and i have 5 so far. Looking to get my next 1 soon.
Man I thought you were gonna drop the gauntlet! Lol I’m just glad you gonna keep comparing the 2. Cause I have both and there both fun in there respective ways.
Very cool. Glad to hear your opinion. I can say being autistic helped me over research getting into the hobby in 2021. Granted I still didn't know enough about brands etc. Thankfully I haven't gotten a brand opinion yet. If I had a Traxxas store I would own one. The only thing I fan boy over is electric over gas.
Don't worry about what people say man, you were trying to do an out of the box first impression of the thing no tuning or anything. Magandang tanghali galing sa Colorado
I, along with some other people, am not a brand snob. Some brands do stuff better then others. Some people have a loyalty to a certain brand. That's fine, whatever. I feel that traxxas is weak it does break lot easier if you have other brands arrma is better made you get your dollar worth
I’m that guy who just got into the hobby and need guys like you to tell us want we don’t know I appreciate you bro thank you 💯💯

The Kraton is basically a Team Durango truggy thats been beefed up.

Revo holds the records of wins til this day in monster class, I wish the class come back, monster class was tough.
Super tough! It was a spectator favorite though! I loved monster truck!
I built my own exb from a Kraton V5 with all the M2C parts but I have a Castle MMX8S and a 1717 1650kv in mine and it's very very wicked
Thank you Mark for this video, same here been with rc cars for almost 40 years. And you nailed it 100% IMO. 🥰. And ofc i have both, and believe it or not, the ERevo are the one that break less.

Everyone starts out in a Traxxas and Armmas truly compete. Bashers have they're place but mean so little once you start to race
I've been in the RC hobby since the 70s and is all about Fun! Never worries about what others thinks and just have FUN!!! 🤟
I’m so glad you talked about this. There are too many hyper-sensitive people (in the RC community). Thanks Mark for all you do.
In all communities*** people just are now days and it sux. Ruining society. Hyper sensitive people all around. Aka Karen's 🤮🤫🙂
When I was growing up, monstertruck racing was clodbusters and kyosho usa-1
your kidding me. you what you best testing the reviewing the rc cars and trucks. I've learned a lot. thanks.
Wow I never knew the real difference between MT and Truggy! Thanks for that historical explanation.
Traxxas all day! Arrmas same cars plot form just different names and body
Good job Mark, guys that are harassing you are still wetting the bed. Keep going dude.
Revo is such a fun car to drive! However, you also have to enjoy fixing things when it breaks. I love driving my E-Revo 2.0....I can't decide on which arrma I NEED to get 😆
It’s my favourite vehicle the 2.0 ERevo, I purchased a second one used and dedicated it for street use
I also have a outcast v2 6s
Personally the fact you already own a 2.0 ERevo I’d get an outcast, it’s so much fun even for small backyards, climbing fences flipping etc, just run it on 4s
Just thoroughly educate yourself regarding differential shimming etc if you haven’t already
No rc is perfect besides Tekno MT410 and most require further money spent on them, servos, ally buckles braces etc
I have 16 vehicles, some are my kids being grave diggers-stampede and recently bought them the latest hpi jumpshot mt flux which for anyone wondering is a great little overpowered machine 😂
I have the vxl rustler 4x4, big rock v3 etc but the 2.0 ERevo just got me instantly, I love it’s tidy clever layout, quick release body and the drivetrain is solid
The latest exb outcast 6s looks amazing
I think if I was shopping for 1/5 I’d go with the outcast 8s exb over the xmaxx
Anyways sorry I rant on, try a outcast mate you won’t regret it 👍🏻
Great video you nailed it.
Glad I discovered your channel, it's a gooden!
Welcome 👋
Also originally for Mt racing there was no center diff if I recall. Guys used to take the og revo 2.2 (before erevo) and put a center diff in them which then made them run in the unlimited monster truck class which is what later developed into the truggy class as guys converted buggys to run in the umt class.
Mark you always give us a honest opinion. I aways check back for your opinions on cars and trucks.
Well spoken. Keep up the great videos and reviews!
Absolutely correct! I’m new to the hobby, I don’t have a ton of experience but I got hella budget! I appreciate your insights!
Haters are gonna hate, forget all that stuff and stick with the basic's, great video!
Keep doing what you do man!
Too bad we can’t have a Kevin Talbot cameo as “Arrma Fanboy”. 🤣
I have all Traxxas so far, but my eye is locked on the Outcast EXB RTR right now.
I personally enjoy your honesty and your reviews. Keep up the good work 👏
Mark I'm with you I've had Traxxas since I was a kid! platinum Revos all the Traxxas stuff!
Awesome video you do a great job keep up the good work!!! God bless !!!
never had a full size e revo buy my first RC car that got me into the hobby was 1/16 E revo VXL a few years ago and i think traxxas does something really well and arrma does things really well
You do you Mark, that’s why we love you!
Slap that knowledge on them Mark!!!
I love them all! Keep up the good work. Most of us watch because of your honesty
I do agree maybe arrma should make a master truck 1/8 or 1/7 scale I think that would be cool thanks for awesome videos and stay safe ✌️
Thanks for that info, never heard anybody say that especially with the kraton vs xmaxx deal. Brand loyalty is really really dumb.
Good video!
I'm glad you have the balls to make this video and make a good point, I have an Arrma Senton 3S(Technically 4S since i put a 125 amp ESC in it) and I love that thing, don't get me wrong, It has broken on my many times, I agree with everything that you said in this vid, great job too my brother
whoa, so the slash was originally a monster truck, but the LCG chassis made it a truggy! =)
No the slash is a short course truck always was a short course truck
Thanks for the explanation. I really didn't know the difference between the type.
I thought the diffs being below the chassis was a smart design to seal up the center diff, driveshaft etc. I didn't realize it was for classification.
Keep in mind this man was a professional racer driving everything but Traxxas when he started out lol
Exactly!!!! 😁😁
Mark you do you man. I like your videos because they are interesting. I learned something from this one.
I have both and its no secret the E Revo is basically a really fast piece of glass lol but I love it!
Shh…. Hahahaha!
Awesome video! 👍 Keep up the great work! I love watching all your videos!
From the heart - well said! 👍 Stop shooting the messenger!
Yes sirrrrr!!!! Keeping it real mark!! Proud of you!!💪🏼🙌🏼🙌🏼😁👌🏼
Why would anyone be upset by any of this lol. People are crazy. You’re doing a great job. Don’t listen to the haters. Get what’s fun.
Well said bro, haters will always talk.. I own both traxxas and Arrma, proud owner of An X01, Kraton 8s and an Infraction.
Forget the haters do what you do and enjoy. Both trucks are awesome.
Don't worry about what people say man, you were trying to do an out of the box first impression of the thing no tuning or anything. Magandang tanghali galing sa Colorado
