    Tried so hard to be practical and shopped hard for a Pilot or Highlander. We ended up in a Tahoe since we missed our old one.

      Yeah, we did the same we bought and Acadia thinking we wouldn't miss our Yukon when we saw how much the gas bills went down... That Acadia stayed in our garage for 8 months till we realized we need a Yukon lol they are great cars!

    Just rented a Tahoe for a week driving to/from Yellowstone. It handled all the luggage for 4 adults which would not have fit easily in a smaller SUV. What I liked was the seamless transmission shifting as I went over the continental divide at least 6 times on the trip. It handled extremely well in and around town and now I am looking at reviews because I was amazed at its effortless handling.

    These guys just don't get it! It's not just about the size of these trucks or there excellent towing abilities. They look, ride and feel expensive.These things have a presents and statues that no mid SUV will match (including the imports) plus they are amazingly practical and really comfortable and despite what they say these thing drive better than a lot of mid size counter-parts. I had one on lone for a weekend getaway and was really impressed by how they drive coming from the highlander these guys mentioned yes that truck had 3 row seating and the highlander did have more room in the 3rd row than the Yukon xl BUT the Yukon had more room in the front and 2nd row then my Toyota and with 3 rows it still had room to carry all of our luggage's. I really was impressed!

      Sinister C-pot Just about every large three row SUV has more third row space than the body on frame GMs. If third row space is what you are looking for an expedition or a navigator is what you want. The back seats are huge.

    To the critic about obese Americans and oversized SUV's, I'm 6'4", 220 lbs. That's slim, but definitely in need of a full-sized vehicle. And if you've never driven a Tahoe, you don't have a clue. They are a dream.

    much better ride on rough surfaces/ gravel roads than crossovers, they have actual four wheel drive not AWD, love the bold big styling, the size, comfortable, high seating position, safe, great in the winter, so I'd rather have one of these than a Pilot or a Traverse. Well I do have one but an 07

    I'm torn on the message of this review. I have a 2015 Traverse, and that came after a 2015 Impala. My Impala was higher-optioned with leather, with the microfiber suede, safety aids, 8-inch touchscreen, heated seats, remote start, Bluetooth, etc. It was a freaking nice car. My Traverse is a 1LT with front-wheel-drive and cloth seats. It has the style and technology package, so I got heated seats and the Bluetooth, and not a whole lot else to compare it to the Impala.
    But I still wanted the 2015 Traverse. Yes, I needed it, too, for the extra space, but I also kind of didn't. I could have made do with the Impala, it's not like it's exactly small. But I live in a Boon Dock-y area that thinks a lot of vehicles like the Traverse, and doesn't understand higher status-y mindsets like body-on-frame versus crossover, and the difference between AWD and 4WD. To them, an SUV shape is an SUV, and that's what's "in," especially on all these back roads.
    Still, I spend more time in my Traverse alone or with one or two people than I do all five that I do most of the driving for. I could have made the Impala work the vast majority of the time, but I didn't because I wanted a Traverse, and I can afford one. I can't exactly look at anyone driving a Tahoe and call it "unnecessary" just because they don't technically need it. I mean, yeah, are there times when someone has to do what's best instead of what they want, but it's not always about that. If Tahoe and Yukon owners are loving their extravagant and probably hard-earned rides, that's what matters. I say we all just enjoy it.

    I really love these cars... We've had 2 over 10 years. There is so much more prestige and presence than a crossover. They boast so much better of rides, and are so comfortable for long journeys. Sure you can get a cayenne for the same price, but you won't want to haul your 4 kids, luggage and the family boat behind it... In all honestly, I'm not a fan of the smaller Tahoe and Yukon... With the 3rd seat up, there is virtually no cargo room. But with the suburban and Yukon XL, you can put 4+ hockey bags, or a dog bed or two.

    They compare to midsize 3 row SUV's... but try pulling a trailer with 7 people in a highlander or traverse. These SUV's are NEEDED for some people. and thats why they're still popular.

    As I look for a new vehicle,I am eyeing a Tahoe,it looks majestic,powerful and comfortable,not a pushover like a midsize wannabe,or mercy a crossover.
    But wether I buy it or not,it is a beautiful vehicle.

  • @StriderCX
    @StriderCX 7 лет назад

    Your final point is absolutely correct: compared to smaller yet spacier, cheaper and more fuel efficient midsize SUVs, the Tahoe/Yukon/Escalade fall short. The main reason why people buy them are for looks and armoring. I watched a Nat Geo documentary on a company that specializes in civilian armored vehicles, and almost all the vehicles they armor (for celebrities/presidents/politicians/etc) are Tahoes/ Yukons/Escalades. I believe this is because they're body-on frame and can handle the increase in weight. The truck suspension/brakes/frame/engine were already designed to tow tonnes, and barely anything has to be modified when a few thousand pounds of armor is added.

    Ok, I'm going to ask this, and I don't mean to be an asshole. I'm genuinely curious.
    For what reason would someone buy a Yukon over a Tahoe? (Or any GMC over a Chevy for that matter?) What makes them worth the extra money?

    • @800muddigger
      @800muddigger 9 лет назад +5

      jwatwater well for a start there's people like me who needs to tow a big trailer around which most crossovers would never dream of even touching. these trucks have 4x4 not awd which in my opinion is better. also these r full size trucks so there's good ground clearance, a big v8, u sit higher than most on the road. and i can say these trucks r built like a rock. i have an 07 Tahoe and that truck sits outside during the winter and summer (i live in Canada so not very nice winters) and it has up around 250k kilometers on it and it has only minor surface rust under neath (and it is just surface rust nothing major) and there is only one chip in its paint on the front fascia which is just from debree from the highway. it doesn't leak, rattle, shake, squeak, thump, fart or any other noise u can dream up. that's why people buy them and i'm sure there are many other people with many different reasons as to y they buy them.

    • @jwatwater
      @jwatwater 9 лет назад +4

      Ok, that answered one question. Thank you. I'm just wondering why anyone buys a Yukon over a Tahoe when they're pretty much the same.

    • @800muddigger
      @800muddigger 9 лет назад +2

      well it mostly comes down to preference in looks pretty much. also the Yukon comes standard with a few more things like leather and heated cooled seats and also the Denali offers the bigger 6.2l V8 with 8 speed transmission . so for me i may be looking into a new truck in the near future so i prefer the Yukon just because i prefer the styling over the Tahoe and it comes with a few more things as standard.

      GMC's are generally built better. In the Middle East, we always prefer GMC's over other brands like Ford, Chevrolet, Lincoln, etc. They sound better, have nicer interiors, they rarely disappoint.

    I'm happy GM restyled all 3 of their full SUVs. I only have gripes with 2 1) being the Yukon gmc got it right with the butt but the front end isn't the prettiest with the headlights. 2) the escalade Cadillac got it right with the front but the ass ehh those taillights aren't the most attractive either everyone has different taste now the one GM got right both front and back is the Chevy Tahoe/suburban. All 3 are amazing SUVs you just have to find the right one for you

    Before anyone consider buying GM 2015 or 2016 Tahoe Yukon are Suburban remember this I spend $53,000 3 years ago on a Chevy Tahoe this past year I noticed the paint on the hood oxidizing and has lines running throughout the paint I checked the roof and the entire roof was covered with the same thing I contacted GM and they did absolutely nothing to help me fix it they told me to contact my dealer which I did and my dealer told me there's nothing they could do so contact GM needless to say GM refuse to do anything again this will be my last GM product I will ever buy.this is a 3 year old Tahoe with 32000 miles on it . a paint job is going to cost me $6,000 to paint the whole SUV

    Why this factories not working to lower gas consumption and make hybrid conception on this size of cars, this cars gives more capability and body space to use lates hybrid conceptions. Making modern nice comfortable interior, but engine is from 20th century.

      They tried, but the consumers won't go for it. A hybrid Escalade is marked up 25k towards its fuel-only brother. Mercedes, Cadillac and Chevy quit their joint program after a few years.

    I just rode two and a half hours back and forth both ways and this car in the very last third row seats and it was so uncomfortable. other than that I love the car but there is no leg room in the third row it just defeats the third row all together to me.

      If you have teens or adults planning to ride in the third row consider the Suburban or Yukon XL
