- This is the simple method I use to map out a basket weave design for kolrosing.
Kolrosing is the art of decorating wood using the sharp tip of a knive to seperate the wooden fibers. You then oil and rub a pigment into the design so that it will show up better.
I am mapping it out on paper to show the process, and this technique can be used on wooden surfaces big and small.
This was the first kolrosing design that I learned and you can see it featured in a lot of my work. A lot can be done with this design and you can keep it simple or make it as elaborate as you want to.

No - you're not drawing 1cm marks - you're drawing 1/2cm marks.
That was the first thing I thought as well, otherwise a very helpful video!
We watched the entire video. Your methodical approach and attention to detail are exemplary!! Great job.
I cannot thank you enough for this short, detailed, clear, and concise example on how to design a basket weave. Thank you.
I love your methodical approach, it's very impressive as well, thanks for sharing,
When you hear me say these dots go 4 x 4 @ 2:58, I should have said they go 3 x 3 🙃
But…when you say you are excited you actually sound very calm and relaxed. 😂 nice video.
