  • SVG and the No. 97 team had a caution go their way that allowed them to fight in the top 10 and could maybe even get a top 5… unfortunately SVG was spun out with less than 10 to go by Sam Mayer and he finished 31st. Let me know your thoughts on SVGs first trip to the Tricky Triangle.

He actually got hit twice when he was racing for positions at the end of this race. Once in the top 10 and then he was back in 27th and made it into the top 20 and got spun again at the end. He drove really well today and it would’ve been the top 10 finish, but that’s all taken away from him because other people can’t drive. Haters Need to stop saying that Shane can’t drive because he is clearly good enough to do so, but they might want to look at the people around him. Have been doing it for years and still can’t drive.

Well, you are missing a little bit of information there, Nicolai. His car was an absolute heap of shit for 3/ quarters of the race as per usual. Shane kept working on it with the crew chief and by the time they got to the last pitstop that actually corrected a lot of the problems because it was too loose into the turns and tight in the centre off section early on. Once they finally got it sorted out by the Last stage, he was able to drive it forward and so he had the speed to be in the top 10 and was looking good for a top 10 finish as you said. If Kaulig could give him cars that weren’t heaps of crap at the start, I’m sure he would be in the top 10 more regular.

Did SVG lap times improve over the duration of the race in comparison to the other drivers? If they did, how much was due to car set-up and how much was due to SVG improved ''track knowledge''?
Either way ALL drivers need to be penalised for incompetent driving and suspended for deliberate actions.
I guarantee there would be a marked improvement in racecraft if there were consequences for taking out other cars.

On his radio at start of stage 3 they called the fuel save and no more stop strategy. So the losing spots initially was not unexpected, as they asked him to find some extra fuel save. They abandoned the strategy at the caution when he pitted because SVG reported the car was bad and getting worse, and he wanted adjustments and was prepared to lose track position to get them.
