But that's what he did , the car driver , he went extreme left and stopped his car . How was he to know that the truck climbing is so underpowered or overloaded that it will come right on to the right flank of the road .

As a car driver, I always felt many times that I should/tempted to move right side in this kind of hairpin bends so that these kinds of heavy vehicles will take the full space needed for the turning even though I am on the wrong side. Is that ok if go to right side in this kind of situations Or people expect you to follow the traffic rules here as usual?? Here the car driver followed traffic rules but he might have waited for sometime even before the hairpin bend.
The best approach and safe approach would be to be on left side but halt vehicle at a distance before turn starts when you sense big vehicle taking turn. Patiently waiting is the key here.

Given the design and road constraints it is ok to stop on the right of the road if it makes it easier for a larger and heavier vehicle to pass. Hill driving is all about patience and consideration for others.

I would follow rules, bcoZ not everytime it's gonna be lorry, and there are some smart ass car drivers in india (I've encountered a lot), who will try to overtake from left of truck, in that scenario if I was in wrong lane I am likely to get hit by truck or other car driver. And these overtake are fast so no time to react.... Ofcourse this is not a very common but just incase... Always be on right side, but definitely stop and wait before the sharp bend to allow the upcoming large vehicle to come up.
