  • Cameron from Ginger Root sat down with Leon and Tadashi to recreate the “kotatsu-kaigi” 44 years on, speak about how he discovered Yellow Magic Orchestra and what he would like to say to them (in Japanese) if they were watching.
Watch Ginger Root’s performance of YMO’s “Kimi Ni Mune Kyun” here: • Ginger Root - Kimi Ni ...
MY FAVORITE ALFA is a series where we invite current artists influenced by music from Alfa Music to cover their favorite song, and then speak with us about what the song/artist means to them, the influence it’s had on their own style, and the general history behind the song, artist, and label.

Just curious, are the YMO guys still (officially) making music aside from Mr. Haruomi/Harry Hosono? (This is a fun interview to watch btw.)

Sakamoto and Takahashi have both been active - Sakamoto in film score and solo work, and Takahashi in the group METAFIVE

@@thatcookiecat METAFIVE is like the Japanese super group you didn’t think you needed - Takahashi joined by Towa Tei, Sunahara of Denki Groove, Cornelius, etc. but don’t expect it to sound like Shibuya Kei.
