Miharu is interesting, she was in the YMO and Alfa orbit from her debut - produced by Makoto Yano, with Yukihiro Takahashi and Ryuichi Sakamoto both playing on her early material. Minako Yoshida was also a guest on her first album. Kenji Omura was on her second and third albums; the latter had Hideki Matsutake involved. At some point in those early years she became Hosono's partner, before they began collaborating on music. It's a curious fact that from YMO, Hosono was the last to work with her but they have maintained the longest relationship.
From what I understand, Matsutake was Tomita’s assistant, and he had someone in his life willing to give him a loan to import a Moog iiic so he could make his own sounds at home. He hasn’t named his benefactor as far as I know. I can only guess that after getting the Moog he was able to finance the other synthesizers via his studio work. Even so, I remember him mentioning that the LM-1 was too expensive for him when he was working on Technodelic, so it’s kind of hard to tell what his exact deal was back then.
