The majority of people born in Scotland (ie Scots) voted for independence in 2014.
The vote went the other way because of people born elsewhere in the UK, largely England, but living in Scotland, and voted to stay in the union.

He met my gran after landing at Rosyth dockyard on his way back from fighting in the second world war. Moved to Scotland and made a life with her here. I have lots of English family and friends. Still sing the song though at games though.
