I love when the bagpipes stop and you can just hear the whole stadium sing it raw. Love this anthem and really enjoyed it at the Principality a few days ago. Many welsh sung it too it sounded great.
Going to a packed Murrayfield is on my bucket list. Hope to do it someday soon.

Apparently Iranians are closely related genetically to the north west European celts, the Gaelic parts of Britain and Ireland ❤ hope all is OK there in Tehran 🙏 worked lots with Iranian families who came to north Ireland to work in the medical sector and was in Tehran myself a few times. A beautiful nation and culture ❤❤❤

But when it comes to supporting Scotland, are you saying patriotic songs are unacceptable to sing? It's not Scotlands fault England maybe struggles a bit with patriotism. The other home nations don't seem to have the same problem, it doesn't mean they want to be independent. The United Kingdom truly is a beautiful thing. Well, that's certainly stirring but amongst the six Nations' ones it's hard to tell which one is more upbeat and rousing between la Marseillaise and Fratelli d'Italia - these certainly get you full throttle

Am I right in thinking that the British/English national anthem on the one hand, and the Scottish national anthem on the other, are the only two in the world specifically to reference military success against the other? There is something really cool about naming your arch enemy in the words of your anthem.

Sort of, Flower of Scotland is about Robert the Bruce defeating England in 1314, he fought them from 1306 until his eventual victory and England's capitulation in 1328. The British anthem was aimed more at Catholic Scots who wished to return the House of Stuart to the throne during the jacobite civil war of 1745.
