I remember when this was released and I heard the first sentence (" I was towelled up...") I was sold immediately. This band is pure fucking class. Post-Punk and poetry.
When he goes on a loop with "And there is no connection available" he reminds me of David Byrne and Talking Heads, he used to repeat lyrics over and over in some songs. Freaking brilliant!
Just seen these guys in Bath! Stage presence amazing. Born in 90s so never seen Joy Division but the lead singer had such a Ian Curtis vibe. Mosh pits were crazy!
Having first heard "Televised Mind" live version! I instantly felt that sound I recall from my youth! I'm 52 now! Best thing I've heard for a long time ! Love it 😆
One of the best ... for the moment. Even kind to my 11 yr old son who was allowed backstage to hang w the band for a bit, before the San Diego show.... opened his eyes to his potential as a future drummer.
Absolutely brilliant, big pixies influence with a hint of punk, well impressed, watch out for these lads, they're going all the way.Anyone who appreciates excellent music watch this space...
To my delight i have came across FDC in the last few months. Most music i listen to nowadays i get sick of it after a while... but with these lads the more i listen to them the more i like them .. they are fucking brilliant .. cant believe i missed them in brixton and kentish town

Oh damn!this song brings addiction!it sounds phenomenal!that bass and guitars ...my mind blows away!rock on guys!wow! Great great job! Greetings from Italy
There are so many reference points, I mean there is The Fall, Joy Division, Killing Joke, Oasis, I can even hear a whiff of Kasabian but they are far more than the sum of their parts. Love em
One of my favourite ever songs ! It's amazing! Gives me butterflies every time I hear it . Love it in the car absolutely blasting. You guys are absolutely fantastic! I need to go to one of your gigs!
Don't know what I was doing but I heard these guys music about a year ago and have been listening to them since. Keep up the good music and can't wait for this covid shit to end so I can rage at their concerts.
My favourite band among a few... after a lot of years wondering if a band like this could even (still) exist in the current climate. The answer was obvious the minute I found out about these fellas. I am reinvigoured, or something. I can't even spell it, that's how long it's been!
I may be late to the party but this band are absolutely amazing. It's been brilliant to go through there back catalogue and discover how brilliant there music is. Fontaines DC are the real deal.
Looking forward to seeing them live later on this year in Los Angeles. Adding them to my growing collection of photography of musicians and bands that know how to fucken shake up a scene.
Hated this on first listen, adore it now. I'm guessing the DP underexposed this at points on purpose, as the one shot takes are breathtaking. Gamechangers.
Lots of things going for it. Heard on 6Music whilst working but had to look further into it as they kept repeating Hurricane Laughter like a Mark E Smith rant with catchy whiney guitars accompanying. Top tune, classy video
Very heavy rocking metal bands move over and let the boys from a band called Fontaines D.C thought, they have got a swagger, a freshness and a brilliance about them that can not be matched by any other current band at this time, they are not, they are only, they could be the Doors, the Stooges, the MC5, they could, be but they are not , they are their own men and they are flipping great, I am a man of a very big age but those boys they get me up and dancing, my doctor tells me tells me that I am in very great shape for my years and joked by saying I bet that you are listening to Thin Lizzy & Rory Gallagher, I told him that I am also listening to this band.
@@charliegotosleep Many thanks for your reply, I only explained what I hear with my own ears, including the FalI could easily name 6 other brilliant bands that I can also hear in their music the first time I Hear and new track, after a few plays that disappears, I love the James Joyce feel that they naturally this band have, Take care
You guys are fucking brilliant. I waited and waited and you came - Thank GOD for that. I don't wanna put too much pressure on you and IDLES but - phew!
Saw them twice at Pilton pop festival... Amazing. Just bagged ticket to see them at the O2 Bristol in October. Government permitting 😷 They are the soundtrack to now.
The Bass in this is fucking incredible.
I'm an old man now but some years back I shared an office with John Peel. He'd have loved this.
It’s odd the production is weird it makes my rib cage hurt
John is Peeled and you're an old man😉
Wow 62 y/o here love the sound !
One of the best bands to come out of Ireland in ages! Brilliant music period.
..since the Dubliners.....
Girl Band and The Murder Capital are also incredible Irish bands right now
Since Therapy?
One of the best bands to come out of Ireland.
This song sounds a bit like The Fall
I remember when this was released and I heard the first sentence (" I was towelled up...") I was sold immediately. This band is pure fucking class. Post-Punk and poetry.
If you like poetic post punk ik im late to reply but check out protomartyr
Just when I thought of giving up of any hope of a music revival... Enter our salvation..... Breath of fresh air, lads
Check out viagra boys. Down in the basement , just like you, shrimp shack. Are my favorites. Give them a listen.
The Idles, Turnstile
I actually could not cope without these poets in my life .Fact

When he goes on a loop with "And there is no connection available" he reminds me of David Byrne and Talking Heads, he used to repeat lyrics over and over in some songs.
Freaking brilliant!
The repetitiveness is intoxicatingly sublime.

Here in rural Pennsylvania, nothing like this on the radio, I can’t get enough of these guys. Love the accents. Kick ass song.
These Darkland versions are GREAT 👍
Agreed. This is a lot better than the album version
Finally there's yet hope for Rock n Roll This band keeps the tradition alive !🍻
My god its so intense!!!! His smouldering gaze and the heavy bass... It hits you in the pit of your stomach

These lads may be saving the Irish music scene from the vanilla radio friendly likes of coronas/walk on cars / riptide samie same music
Agreed.

Early Nick Cave vibes. Deadly
You're right. Don't laugh...but there's a G'n'R/ Duff McKagen sound in this song for sure. Anyways, these fellas are tight.
Does it matter, there is a whiff of talent - fair play to them and bollocks to the semantics
Also fellow Irish band from the 90’s, Whipping Boy.
When I first heard this track I immediately Thought 'The Fall'
I was drinking an unpopular swiss beer when I remembered that it's always the first record of a band that makes us love them
One of my favourite ever songs ! It's amazing! Gives me butterflies every time I hear it . Love it in the car absolutely blasting. You guys are absolutely fantastic! I need to go to one of your gigs!
Best driving song ever

They clearly own the same record collection as I do.
And that record collection was my youth ...
Which records would that be?

@@urmumsbaps hI only 1, there have been many thousands over the years, keep well.
I love Fontaines, but dont paint them to be some unprecedented new sound... as I mentioned in my other comment they are *very* derivative of the Fall.
