- Very long overdue video. The exhaust setup is JWT c8 cams, custom spec’d PPE long tubes, tomei y-pipe and single exit. I’ve had a few different setups and have heard countless, and I genuinely believe this is one of the best sounding n/a setups for VQ’s. It’s throaty, deep but also has that true VQ growl. It’s loud, it’s gonna piss off some neighbors, but when you’re out driving enjoying the car the way its meant to it makes it all worth it. I hope those that are on the edge of purchasing some cams or can’t decide if PPE is worth they money, THEY ARE!! can’t say it enough, it’s a sound you can’t replicate any other way. Hope everyone enjoyed and stick around for more content 🤟🏼
Very nice, maybe a little too roudy but I can respect the fuck outta the build, love the v3 bumper looks bananas
Appreciate that man! It’s definitely more for there fun days and past the point of enjoying as a daily, but I’ve never not enjoyed driving it, just waiting to get a few more parts to throw my turbo kit on and it’ll be almost done 🤞🏼
Sounds good, the cams give it a harsher sounding idle, I'd prefer a smoother sound, but still nice overall 🔥🔥 the setup is 10/10
I appreciate it, it’s a really nice sweet spot for my taste
To be honest, my 07 with full custom exhaust sounds pretty similar! The cold idle isn't as gurgly as I'd expect with cams
I had the same setup when I swapped my Z to the 3.7HR minus the cams. I couldn’t stand it. It was way too droney and loud for me. I’m getting old lol. I drove it for like 4 days and then parked it and ordered a TDX2. Yours sounds great bro
Thanks man, it’s definitely not a daily driver setup. But for the cruises it’s amazing no doubt about it
Yes, you are getting old bc Im going thru the same process. 😂 Shit is to loud
Awesome. Was the 3.7 bottom end swap pretty straight forward of just a nightmare to do?
Considering for my HR Z
@@RyanFlavia yup, wiring is the same ofc just heads on vhr bottom end. ofc, you need a tune Aswell.
As far as I can tell, 3.7 bottom end was easy, just HR ( EVERYTHING ELSE) timing cover & all
Hearing your PPE headers makes me appreciate mines. I got blacked flag at Atlanta Motorsports Park for being too loud
Yea they’re a hell of a set of LTH to have, I love them
@nizmospec0012 I thought they were too loud at first and never rev higher than 6k rpms now I realize it's a good loud tone if that makes sense.
@@demigodq6083 yea it’s soooo good
Looks and sounds beautiful. I'll be adding cams later this year.
Thanks man, and definitely won’t be disappointed
@NizmoSpec Thanks I'm looking forward to it. My goal is to rebuild my motor and add turbos or a supercharger. I'm looking to get 550-600 horses at the wheels.
@@darrelltuttle8298 I’d look into a JWT c8/rz2 combo, I’ve got a friend running it on a SOHO SC kit and he loves it. You can message him and tell him I sent you, he’ll tell ya all about his setup. His IG is @k_espiritu17
@NizmoSpec thanks I saw those cams on Z1 Motorsports website but, I thought they might be too aggressive for the street but, if he's getting good gains I'm going to look into it. Thanks
@@nizmospec0012 will do thanks
Love the sound, planning to get mine cammed when winter comes round again, I’ve got the tomei Y pipe and single exit, looking to buy tomei headers and decats next, curious have you had yours on the dyno yet? And if so what HP are you seeing?
Thanks man, you’ll love yours too! And I street tuned it due to not having a local dyno, but one actually opened up over winter so I’m planning on making a video of getting it on the rollers this summer 🤟🏼
amazing sound!
For sure my favorite setup 🤞🏼
this sounds awesome!
Appreciate it 🙏🏼
Are the backfires the result of the cams and exhaust or was it intentionally tuned in?
Sounds great!
It’s a separate tune, but the mods help with it a good bit
Sounds great man
Thank you!
Insane build. I'm about to instal tomei poncams 266/10.8 into my HR Z and was after your opinion on getting the tomei headers to match the cams? Super expensive in Australia so was wondering what gains roughly the headers would make with drop in cams? (Ported plenum upper and lower, 3" cai, full exhaust, JWT clutch/LW flywheel ,4.08 Z1 LSD)
If you’re looking to make the most of an N/A build, I’d definitely recommend some aftermarket headers and tomei is a great choice! Just try to do some RUclips research on what exhaust setup you plan on running and see if that’s an exhaust note you’d be happy with, that’s the most important part after all
If you ever think about selling, pls reply to this comment. I want this so bad and would sell my STi hatch in a heartbeat for this.
Sounds really good
Thank you 🙏🏼
Het mate, I am changing my 350z HR cams for tomei poncams and I had a question. There is a cam position sprocket that is on the back end of each cam, secured with an 8mm allen bolt. The poncams do not come with this so it needs to be switched over from the old cams to the new cams. I can't seem to get it off as the cams wont go into a vice without damage. Do you have any tips for removal or if not, I can't find out what this part is called for purchase. Any idea what it's called?
@@user-be1cb6kp4x should have hex notches in between the lobes, use adjustable wrenches (I had a friend hold 2 on 2 different spots) as I used a impact to get mine off, then swapped and repeat but using a torque wrench. I can’t remember the torque spec off the top of my head but I made a video on cam installs and I believe I mentioned it in there. Otherwise hmu and I can get it for you, it’s in the manual
@@nizmospec0012 Thank you mate, that was exactly the information I needed. I'm very deep into this cam swap so any help is super appreciated. I found the part and its called the camshaft signal plate for anyone wondering.
Also, due to the heads being on and the engine in the car, It seems like I will have to complete the cam and timing rebuild in order to check clearances between cam and bucket so I can turn the whole rotating assembly in time. Then I'll have to take the timing and cams off again to replace any buckets that need it. Am I missing something or would this be standard with heads still attached?
@@user-be1cb6kp4x just refer to my video I made, I put all the info you need in there
@@nizmospec0012 Thank you mate. Again, for anyone wondering, With all the timing removed, I simply advanced the crank about 40 degrees so no valves would touch on any piston, then just rotated each cam however I wished to get clearances, just like you would with the heads detached.
What's your power numbers? Any 1/4 mile times? Who are you tuned by and on which platform?
Parallel merge? Sounds awesome.
Thanks man, yea the PPE’s are 2in runners to 2.5in parallel merge collectors
Hi, what are the mods done to the engine?, also which software are you running Uprev?...awesome sounding car!
Thanks man! When I made this video It was FBO with cams, but currently in the process of putting my turbo kit on among some other things and will be trying to make some more content as I dig into that 🙂
Also, I was tuning with uprev
Hi, what are the cams exact specs? IN/ EX (duration & lift)...I believe absolute maximum is 11mm lift to have enough cearance from the piston....thanks
awesome
Got the same setup but with peasant isr lth
What camera do you use?
Your car sounds great! Have you put it on the dyno?
Thanks man, and not yet but it should be around the ~330 mark on 91
Ayyy I have NISMO 370Z 0012
Sick!
How much power?
Hey Veloster gang🤙🏻 Unfortunately my Velo has a cracked block after a month of ownership and come to find out the dealership sold me a shit car knowing it was a shit car. But I'm buying a DE soon. Ik Ik it's a DE but it's an up rev and I plan on getting VHR up and lower manifolds. I'm just scouting cams cause Idk what brand to get yet.
can't have ver lower and upper manifolds on the DE. Only the hr can have those since it has the dual intake design and both of them share many parts in common as compared to the DE
@@rayyansiddiqui3490 damn I forgot about that. Car I wanted sold but I'm still looking for a decent price thats not clapped out or beat to shit. What's a good alternative manifold for a DE then? Definitely want to keep it N/A for a while because we have a daily and daily+ class at my local strip and I don't wanna break out of that class if I go turbo or S/C lol. Next class up is the trailered race cars and I'm poor😂😂😂
@@Nofuxgvn.z34 go for hr because mods wise it’s a lot cheaper to make 300whp, for a de to make that your looking all bolt ons plus upper lower ported manifolds e85 and cams to make as much. Yes hr is more expensive but I guarantee you if you get a de, at the back of your mind you’re gonna be thinking “ I wish I got an hr instead”
@@rayyansiddiqui3490 I've seen de revups run 300whp with just a few bolt ons and 93 tune...if I can find an HR for a deal I'll definitely snag it but if a DE comes along first then first come first serve lol
@@Nofuxgvn.z34 trust it takes more work to get a revup making that much, they burn oil and at the end of the day an hr will always be faster and more reliable. If you wanna save some cash go ahead but I think it’s worth dropping an extra 3-4k for that performance
I'm doing all this but only can't do the headers because I live in cali smh but I got motordyne art pipes at least. Do you think the tomei Y pipe changes the sound over just a straight regular y pipe?
Absolutely, I had that setup before this actually. I had stock headers/art pipes/stock y-pipe/tomei single, it was nice, but when I put in the tomei y-pipe and had stock headers/art pipes/tomei y-pipe/tomei single, I lovedddddd it. I really loved how much more alive it sounded. The only way I was swapping that setup was for PPE’s and I can say that 100%. Get the tomei y-pipe you’ll love it man
@NizmoSpec just got the tomei y pipe today bro !
@@Conker999 ayee! Congrats man you’ll love it 🤟🏼
@NizmoSpec I will but my neighbors won't 🤣
Cali ? Poor baby. Come to the south we Don't give a F
the long tubes let you hear the chop better. My cammed Z sounds different but I'm not single exit. The single exit sounds loud. Great sounding Z.
ruclips.net/video/OyyP2pFVCvk/видео.html
For sure, and thanks man. It really is satisfying hearing the throatyness in the end. I wouldn’t do cams without LTH and I wouldn’t do LTH without cams 💯
does it ever get too loud for you?
Personally no, but if loud is something you’re worried about id take that into consideration. I love it
288 cams?
JWT C8, they’re 272 w/ 12mm lift
how did you get it to pop
Tune
do c8 cams fit stock pistons?
@@elijahstewart1333 yep
@@nizmospec0012any sort of issues with clearance? factory pistons, factory vtc factory shims?
@@elijahstewart1333 JWT provides valve springs & shims to go with the cams during installation, as well as checking valve lash. I had to swap out a good few valve lifters (the buckets on the springs) to keep the lash within tolerances. All of this work I’ve made tutorial videos on should you decide to get the cams and looking for help on installation
@@nizmospec0012 godsend thanks so much
@@nizmospec0012 shit just realized your cars an HR not a DE, i assume they're the same as far as c8 a dropping in though
How tf it shoots that big flames?
AdminTuning doing his work haha
Sounds fine down low, but needs a duel exit. That high note is awful.
To each their own 🤞🏼
Deep growl? It’s high pitched and raspy probably drones still too
I feel you, but In comparison to a tomei setup without longtubes, this is definitely a little deeper but just enough to where it doesn’t have that true dual pitch. I still prefer the single exit tone
Just don't come to New Iberia Louisiana with that. They hunt for the noise
Just might have to swing by haha
New Iberia roads will keep anyone away 🤣
