All of the injuries and wounds in this show follow the video game logic. That's why Thaddeus can still walk on his foot but his movement is decreased with limb damage. Their use of stimpacks and being immediately fine is an example.
So coopers dog before the war was named roosevelt. The dog's name he is with now was cx-404, but he nucknamed it dogmeat. Dogmeat is the name of the dog companion in all the games
Yes, the computer on Betty's desk does exist--or at least it did. It is a Lear Siegler ADM-3, not really a computer, but a "dumb terminal" used to connect to large mainframe computers. My first job after high school (in 1976) was working in the factory in Anaheim, California where these were assembled. A bit of trivia--ADM stood for "American Dream Machine". 😄
I think the thumbnail and the intro was good, i can see that its hard to find a good clip couse the episode were more intriguing then it was exciting or cool but i think it was a good clip : ) Great video as always : )
I think a lot of the appeal of this show can be seen in your reaction to Lucy's Execution scene. The horror as Overseer Benjamin is standing over her with the sword declaring "death", by banishment to the surface and then breaking into laughter when we see him trying to cut through the strap with the very dull blade. They did an excellent job of playing with our emotions in this show.
The games, too, in a different way. That's where I think the Fallout flavor lies. Combining horrifying scenes with terrifying tension and macabre humor. I can't think of a specific example off the top of my head, but I remember finding numerous skeletons (mostly in the toilets) in hilarious compromising positions.
3:53 perhaps is the medicine that prevents ghouls from becoming feral and maybe it was extracted in the super duper mart from the ghouls held prisoner by the two organ traffickers, basically a kind of indirect cannibalism.
Yes, there used to be computers very much like the terminals in the show. My computer experience began over 40 years ago using machines similar to them. Thanks for another enjoyable reaction! 🤗 😁👍
Sessis, the color scheme on the computers comes right out of AppleII. And the cathode-ray green. I loved that look as a kid. Playing "Oregon Trail" and "Jungle Hunt".
I'm not sure if you picked up on this, but the Vault that Lucy and Maximus fell into is the same Vault that Cooper was showing off when he made that advertisement for Vault-Tec. It was their society run by scientists. That's why it has fancy stuff like caviar and oysters and Lucy's Vault doesn't. Vault 4 was "one of the good vaults", where the scientists were going to live in luxury while they captured survivors from the surface and did experiments on them.
6:04 No. It's a hybrid of a human and a "radiation resistant species", in this case a gulper. 23:06 The first PCs looked very similar to this since they used CRT screens. Wikipedia has a "History of personal computers" article with a bunch of pictures too. This isn't super well explained in the show (like most things), but basically almost all vaults were actually social experiments of some sort. That's why the majority of the vaults you find in the games are all in a fallen state and you basically have to figure out what happened there, based on environmental context clues and the various terminals you could hack into (the hacking in the show is actually the hacking minigame from the games).
There are a few way to become a ghoul. Before the inhalers, you had to be a certain distance from a nuclear blast. But now that there’s radiation everywhere you can capture some of it in an inhaler and take it that way. Ghouls are able to enter fatally radioactive areas and not be injured in any way, with the added perk of living for 400ish years
I’ve got another theory. We go through the whole series thinking that Chicken Lover/potion guy is a nut and fraud but the potion did work. Maybe Thaddeus is just going to be a human with regenerative power. No ghoulification. Maybe the guy is just a crazy genius.
Have you seen Pixar movie UP or STAR WARS? If you haven't seen STAR WARS, check them out when they came out. That means looking at 4, 5, 6, 1, 2, 3 and Rogue One: A Star Wars Story.
Dogmeat is the iconic name in the Fallout series. I don't think Thaddeus is becoming a ghoul. There is no known medicine to reverse ghoulification. The medicine the Ghoul take is only to make him from going feral. It is not making him better. I believe he took a much worse chemical.
Keep in mind this show introduces some unknown concepts, you would know that if you'd played all the games but also watched the entire show. It is basically Fallout, but with an added bit of extra, different, flavor. The ghoul takes both chems (the inhaler like drug being compared to benzedrine / methamphetamine, drinking heavily, and using various chems), but he has to take a particular medication to keep himself from going feral, but it works in a similiar way to drug addiction as well, aka he loses it mentally if he can't get it, and physically.
@@smackedout2477 Yes I know that. The writers need to change some stuff to make a story line better while staying in the same universe. The removal of the fusion core from the armor should have opened it as a fail safe so that the person inside it does not get locked in as explained in Fallout 4. Yet if it does that, then Maximus would be able to chase a wounded Thaddeus, kill him, take the head and walked away. That would ruin the story line and Lucy would not be able to find him and save him. That is why I am going to side with the party that said Thaddeus took FEV which the show lightly touched on episode 2. I expect to see Super Mutant Thaddeus.
@@farzanbaloo8516 I never played Fallout 76 but both of you are making me unsure. Ghoulification is some kind of mutation caused by radiation (I believe, I never thought about it), most people die from radiation but becoming a ghoul just was a select few who survived intense radiation. have never heard or seen of potions turning you into a ghoul, but since the doctor said "he wont have to worry about radiation" I presumed he must have given him some kind of drug / radioactiive poison mix, or figured out a way to ghoulify people (aka part of the series not the game, as far as I know). They add some things or clarify things so even if you've played the games it's not exactly like them.

The offical reason to keep the seperate is to prevent the spread of disease so if something happens to one vault the others will be ok

They used actual vintage computers for those terminals in the show.

There used to be green screen monitors for workstation computers in the 1980s that looked very much like that
I remember using monochromatic displays like that in school as late as '95 or so.
Looks very close to the Commodore PET, right down to the text.
Don't forget the rare and coveted orange screens. 😄
The inhaler keeps the ghouls from becoming feral so they don't end up like Roger or Martha.
