I doubt any of you will check this many years later; but I do want you to know that "Hodie" is my favorite Christmas choral work, and yours became my favorite performance from the first time I heard/saw you. I salute you, and give you much gratitude. And I do post this on my Facebook page every Christmas. Noe!!!

How many things I love about this video!!! The way the church interior begins as a drawing, becomes "real," then goes back to a drawing. Like the singers bring it to life with their voices. All the singers are so excellent. The alto is a guy, as an alto myself I love that unusual choice. The faces of the singers, especially the unusual eyes of the bass. The piece itself is a favorite of mine for many years. As a college freshman in 1986 I was in a concert choir which performed this and other works at Neuschwanstein Castle and many other venues in central Europe; hearing it takes me back to that amazing tour experience. So thank you for creating and posting!

How did this international quintet come to be? This is one of my favorite Christmas choral works, done to perfection! Thank you. My church choir, under the direction of a very fine director and composer, did this in the 1970s, when my voice was able to do it justice. Kudos to each of you.

Let me see if I have this straight:
This is a virtual choir? The five singers remain at home. They sing their parts, and the engineer Patrick mixes the music, so to speak, in the nave of Edington Priory, editing the parts to achieve the best blend?
Wow. Is this a first? It works!
Lovely, delineated harmony. Confident, inspired singing.

    • @JulieGaulke

Thank you, Lloyd! The concept of the "virtual choir" is not new actually. Most notably, it was made famous by Eric Whitacre and has grown in popularity over the last years. (A search on RUclips for Whitacre virtual choirs will bring up several examples.) With the current technology, it is possible for singers around the world to now sing together in harmony and in spectacular places such as this beautiful church!

@@alqasar GRACIAS A TI, POR EMPLEAR MI LENGUA PARA DIRIGIRTE A MI. SIN EMBARGO, PERMITEME QUE TE CORRIJA... LOS IDIOMAS QUE MAS GENTE ENTIENDE EN EL MUNDO, SON EL CHINO MANDARIN Y EL CASTELLANO. EL INGLES ES SOLO EL 3º.
LAMENTABLEMENTE, LA CULTURA ANGLOPARLANTE HA TENDIDO SIEMPRE A ACOMODARSE A QUE SEAN LOS DEMAS QUIENES HABLEN SU IDIOMA, EN LUGAR DE SER ELLOS QUIENES APRENDAN OTRAS LENGUAS, Y PARECE QUE ESO ES ALGO QUE HAY QUE ACEPTAR SUMISAMENTE.
YO, COMO ESPAÑOL, ESTOY MUY ORGULLOSO DE MI IDIOMA, Y ME ESFUERZO EN HABLARLO CORRECTAMENTE, PERO VALORO Y RESPETO MUCHO OTRAS LENGUAS, ESPECIALMENTE EL ITALIANO, QUE ES EL DE SONIDO MAS BELLO, Y ADEMAS HA SIDO SIEMPRE LA LENGUA DE LA MUSICA (ASI COMO DEL ARTE), Y CREO QUE DEBIERAMOS REIVINDICARLAS EN LUGAR DE DEJARNOS SUBYUGAR DE ESA MANERA. ES MUY TRISTE DESPRECIAR DE ESTA MANERA LO NUESTRO, CUANDO TIENE TANTO VALOR.
COSA CURIOSA, ADEMAS: EL VIDEO ES UNA CANCION EN LATIN, Y EL ITALIANO ES LA LENGUA CUYA RELACION CON EL ES MAS DIRECTA.
POR LO DEMAS, ENHORABUENA POR LA INTERPRETACION. ES PRECIOSA.
