I think he is also a saxophonist that a non-saxophone player would be somewhat dazzled by. His phrasing and melodic content of his soloing is so compelling. I agree about him being a sax man's sax man though. His accuracy, tone, speed and perfect altissimo is something for the ears to behold.
jsem94 ur right man, I have listened to Joel live, and he's incredible, as a tenor saxophonist I can only confirm that his phrasing is literally crazy, and u can always be sure that is him playing after the first few notes cause he owns his phrasing and tone, he's one of a kind
Learning this solo now....its the way he plows through the palm keys and altissimo effortlessly, the time is sick and his tone is all! Beautiful playing!
When I was a child Oh how I looked up to you I'm not in denial Yes I still love you Now I see the way you really were Yes I do Wished I thought that you would change Shoulda known that you would not You would play those mind games- With the women I call mine Even so we love each other today We got through da dadadadada dadada daadadadadadadaaaad dadadada Now that I don't hold you Because we don't live close Not that I'm above you Cos I'm really not, I suppose Even so we love each other today We got through Break for sax solo da dadadadada dadada daadadadadadadaaaad dadadada Next time I will see you I will have to play this for you This is what connects us You have always told me the truth Now I'm gonna show you how I've grown Through this tune Every time I think of you- I recall times that you came through Oh I'll see you soon When I do- We'll sing this tune da dadadadada dadada daadadadadadadaaaad dadadada da dadadadada dadada daadadadadadadaaaad dadadada Whoa oh yeah
Joel is a saxophone players saxophonist
.....when you play the instrument ....you know just how great he is

I want this on other platforms too😭
Man I can't get over Frahm's solo. Must be one of the most virtuousic solos I've ever heard. Beautiful song!
Brandon Pressley it's a beautiful solo, I completely agree with you, and Joel's playing is always pure gold
It's not just the virtuosity, it's the phrasing, his tone. It's one of the best solos I've ever heard, he is playing the fuck out of this tune.

When I was a child
Oh how I looked up to you
I'm not in denial
Yes I still love you
Now I see the way you really were
Yes I do
Wished I thought that you would change
Shoulda known that you would not
You would play those mind games-
With the women I call mine
Even so we love each other today
We got through
da dadadadada dadada daadadadadadadaaaad dadadada
Now that I don't hold you
Because we don't live close
Not that I'm above you
Cos I'm really not, I suppose
Even so we love each other today
We got through
Break for sax solo
da dadadadada dadada daadadadadadadaaaad dadadada
Next time I will see you
I will have to play this for you
This is what connects us
You have always told me the truth
Now I'm gonna show you how I've grown
Through this tune
Every time I think of you-
I recall times that you came through
Oh I'll see you soon
When I do-
We'll sing this tune
da dadadadada dadada daadadadadadadaaaad dadadada
da dadadadada dadada daadadadadadadaaaad dadadada
Whoa oh yeah
