Great info! Was pretty easy in my 72 as well, BUT, it's easy to get sucked down a rabbit hole with new parts on these old trucks. I fell victim to it on several occasions. Looking forward to the suburban!
Thanks, so true, it’s easy to spend A LOT of money on these old project trucks. In some areas it’s justified, in other cases not so much. Eventually I’d like a few luxuries like a Dakota Digital dash and Vintage Air A/C but need to get the LS swap done first then save up for the “nice to haves.”
I just did a swap into a 1978 chevy 4x4. Had clearance issues with the front crossmember. I had to notch it out. A couple companies make a crossmember that works on lifted vehicles.
i have a 97 silverado 5.7, i plan to go with drive by cable. Will my existing cables work or do i need new ones? I get 60 PSI out of my pump, why do i need a new fuel pump?
I think you’ll need the throttle cable that came with the engine, from like a 1999-2002 Silverado/Sierra. If your fuel pump puts out 60 psi it should work but most of the TBI fuel pumps won’t put out that much.
I had a similar issue, if you have HP Tuners you can try disabling brake torque management like I did in this video: ruclips.net/video/nXv4zrv6ZuU/видео.html
I don’t have any experience with that particular combination, do you know what kind of Ford front end? I wonder if the mounts/oil pan etc that guys use to swap the LS engines into the mustangs would work.
@@LowbuckLS no idea. I know it has a Ford 9" so that's a plus. Right now I'm just trying to learn all I can for when I start it. I have been going to my local junkyard to find a complete motor. I'm just finishing up my Chevelle right now than on to the 57
@@LowbuckLS Getting ready myself to purchase hptuners. Did swap the engine in our tahoe and saving up for cam/springs and hptuners. :) Will be a steep learning curve I'm sure, this old guy will have to dust his brain off a bit lol
@@bertvisser6423 that’s awesome, glad you got the swap done, did everything go smoothly? Not sure if you told me before but what engine did you end up swapping in? If you have any trouble with the tuning let me know and I’ll see if I can help you out.
Great vid Randy 👍👍

I'm looking to do an ls swap in my 57 3200. Somebody put a Ford front end on the frame already. Any good tips?

Can I learn to tune for a cam? I wanna put the cam in and header pipes but I don’t know how to make the power afterwards with computer
This video might help with the tuning after the cam swap, would need to have HP Tuners though.
Which video? And Do you have a price for tuners HP?
ruclips.net/video/w6YTFH4LAmI/видео.html sorry this is the video I meant to post, HP Tuners I think is $300-400 plus $100 for credits
