I love when he says "Tree is happy" and they pan to the guy looking up at the tree like "are you happy though?"

There should be a minimum of overlap of the fabric. The overlap results in much slower soaking through to the void. Cut the fabric to fit with about a 2” overlap and staple it.

Now if someone were to dig that hole up many years from now, they'd think they'd found either a box of treasure or a time capsule!

I have a backyard that is landlocked and when it rains heavily some water can seep into my unfinished basement. Do you think this would be a good option? I like this idea.

I live in Southern California and only have DG soil. Good news-Bad news. Do you have the name of the "Rain Tank" you used in this video. I searched and only found solid plastic ones with drain "holes". It looks like the one you show would drain much quicker and handle more water when we get a big rain. Thanks. Larry

I live in Etobicoke where the soil is very clay-like, and because of it, I get puddling in the back portion of the site of my backyard after a heavy rainfall or with a snow melt. Would something like this be a good idea to install in the rear? Great video!

It may Fernando but you should also consider other options to help you soak up rain water. Here's some more you could consider: www.raincommunitysolutions.ca/en/for-property-owners/soak-it-up/

How long till it it degrades and pollutes the ground with plastic waste? I think a metal frame soakbox would be more compatible for our future and our environment...

Soakaways are used to pass your flooding on to your neighbour here in Dalkey, Co.Dublin, the fact that the flooding is grossly polluted with sewage is irrelevant it seems.

  • @fordmanmal

Why not, instead of dumping the water into the earth - catch the water with the tanks that are already in place & keep that water for watering the gardens. So long as you have leaf catchers the water will be pretty clean & perfect for the gardens! If you attach a filter to the outlet, you could even wash the car/s and/or outside furniture & even the house!? Saves using precious water supplied by city councils etc and you not wasting it by dumping back into the ground.
