  • It feels good to get in and push it in a car like the Porsche 718 GTS 4.0. That's because the steering feel is excellent, the power is perfect for the platform, and the six-speed manual gearbox is wonderfully tuned. The entire package adds up to one of the all-time great driver's cars.

    Having owned a 991.1 S and now have a 718 GT4, for me the Cayman is so much more raw of an experience. You hear and feel that engine way more than a 911. Cayman’s are intense.

      I went the reverse direction. 718 Spyder to 991.2 4S. Spyder was without a doubt the more nimble car. Great induction note from the 4L but the howl from the 911 in sport plus is beautiful lol. Both fantastic cars.

      @@notthisguyagain8557Plenty of room for tall people because that seat goes way back. Just remember you can’t recline the back of the seat far back since it’s a two seater and will hit the back wall. Also, if you’re over 6, forget getting the carbon bucket seats as well. Regardless of the seat you chose, Porsche does a fantastic job of setting the driver position in proper form and I this car covers a wide range from short to tall.

    The "outdated" infotainment is a plus in my book.. The 718 still has the previous gen 991.2 911 interior, which was peak Porsche interior imho.. The perfect mix between retro analog dials and buttons and modern digital gadgets with PCM 4.0 and Apple Carplay etc.. Newer car interiors with digital (touch)screens I think are a step back in terms of sportscar feel and ergonomics.. I'm gonna keep driving my 718 Boxster 2.0 for a very long time.. Maybe I'll get a GTS 4.0 later just for the sound and NA feel when I can ever afford one (price difference is huge in my country, +/- 40k, which is a lot just for the sound and NA feel), if not I'll just keep enjoying the base 718 Boxster which is already a great car with the same great driving dynamics and plenty fast enough and the boxer 4 sound really is not that bad, I like the deep dark rumble it produces.. 0 interest in newer more "modern" cars, especially now they all go digital and even worse electric..

      84km/h in first gear and 134km/h in second, meaning you will be using second gear only when driving without loosing your drivers license on twisty roads, no need for any other gear then second gear which is no fun... (since the car only wake up at over 5000rpm and rev up to almost 8000.)

    • @neilturner6749
      @neilturner6749 11 месяцев назад +2

      As a GTS owner my advice is that if you intend to daily the car, don’t intend to track the car very often, aren’t bothered if the car doesn’t look “slammed”, or live somewhere where the roads are not very smooth, tick the raised suspension option box. It’s only slightly softer than the standard GTS suspension (it’s basically the same as the PASM option on S model 718s) but just enough to take the edge off of rough surfaces. IMO it should the standard GTS setup with the lowered alternative being the option. If you’re a serious “track guy” or young and like your cars as low as possible then go with the default setup.

    It’s a great car however the tall gearing and the higher redline make this car not great for the street if you want to keep your drivers license or avoid killing yourself. The car begs you to rev it so you end up going way faster than you should on public roads. It is excellent but it would be way more fun and usable on the street if they fixed the gearing.
