Bear in mind that @matildegentile8165 is praising Francesca Albanese for being a role model for women all over the world. My own daughter, who is a young woman, for sure would consider Albanese as a “power woman”.
As an American, now in my 60's, I've confessed to my ignorance of the plight of the Palestinians in the territories. I was influenced by either mis-information, propaganda, a lack of information and false doctrine. Even as a child I recall Looney Toons cartoons that always characterized people of Arab nationality as bad guys, not to be trusted, coming in to do something sneaky and underhanded. Photographic memory. No history lesson ever taught on the forced displacement of an entire population of people from their homes and land.
The more I learn, the more ashamed of the person I had become by not looking deeper and for buying the false narrative fed to me. I can no longer stand watching Western/American media and find myself repeatedly attacked when I do and comment on behalf of the people in Gaza and the occupied West Bank. It's not going to stop me from standing up, speaking out and sharing what I have learned since this event brought the real situation that was hidden, into the stark glaring light of day.
I was already on my way there before Oct 7th, when truth came slipping in to take the scales from my eyes, when settlers in the West Bank were just taking people's homes and land. I knew that wasn't right.
Never give up, never give in, stand your ground, for you're standing on the solid ground of truth, not the shifting sand of lies, deceptions and propaganda.
This is the reality Coleen the American. America made a choice it saw people like Anwar Sadat of Egypt that prompted Pan Arab Secular Nationalism as a direct threat to American interest. So America always push the Jihadist over Arab secular nationalist, this been the policy of America since 1967.
when your fellow americans criticise you, ask them how they would feel if Florida, or their home state, had been gifted to the Jews for the formation of the state of Israel, and all the occupants kicked out, their houses and towns destroyed, thousands killed. Would the displaced people be wrong to resist?

@@marianooo6332 AJ is good, especially on topics like this, but I would encourage you to diversify your news consumption as a matter of principle. I wouldn't go to AJ for coverage of gulf petrochemical regimes like Saudi Arabia, for example.
It's just a matter of keeping in mind where the blindspots and vested interests are. For example, the BBC is a good source of information but on controversial issues (like Israel/Palestine) or on domestic British politics they will pursue the perception of "neutrality" at the expense of objectivity. If you keep that in mind their coverage of most global issues isn't bad. It also helps to understand what the pervasive status quo position in media is if you want to change people's minds.

No, it's a mindset. Many people are against the news period of any type because it is so negative that they don't watch, so they are uninformed. More and more, I have no one to talk to about current events. It's almost taboo to bring up a current event topic. It implodes their world.

I only heard of this knowledgeable woman recently when she came to speak in Australia. I was so happy to listen to her because I knew she would shake things up in our media, their coverage has been so terrible. People with no knowledge on what they're reporting shouldnt be reporting, instead they reported from such a skewed angle it was ridiculous.
There was so much push back from Francesca's talks, there still is and she's not even in the country anymore.
Something I didnt know until recent events was that there are Zionist lobbies here, that they're strong, and have a lot of say in our gov, its definitely been eye opening. As was finding out how many of our journalists get all expenses paid trips to Israel, these are obviously paying off well these days.

Completely agree. Australian journalists in Canberra embarrassed themselves on the international stage that day by showing their provincialism, their lack of education, and their total lack of knowledge of the Israel-Palestine conflict and its history. On top of that some were utterly biased towards Israel for seemingly no other reason than that was Australia's traditional position, or that their editors had told them to swing that way. Their questions sounded like those written by primary school children. It was a complete clown show and Francesca completely schooled them. They should really give up their day jobs after that debacle, while Francesca was masterful.

I don't think they were wanting to challenge Francesca. More like trying to get a gotcha sound bite to elevate themselves. Journalists should never be the story. They are there to uplift the voices of those that can't speak for themselves.
That particular journalist was probably trying to write what he thought was a "balanced" story. The trouble is that there is no balance in israel's campaign of mass murder of Palestinians in Gaza, and there has never been any balance in the military control israel exerts over Palestinians on their own land..

I live in Alaska and have been closely following the ongoing atrocities and genocide in Gaza. Several times I have called and emailed my "represent atives" in Congress to call for a full and unconditional ceasefire. Amazingly I have never even heard of this beautiful and courageous woman until today. That is how deeply she and other rational voices are censored. I went out of my way to find the truth, but even in the alternative media in the U.S. I have never come across her name.
