Who needs presets with a show like this, brilliant, from a dude at the top of the game. many thanks that was invaluable, but no illusions of what it takes to get there.
The wing compact was an awesome buy for me. I use the Soul (AKA Solid State Logic lol) EQ and compressor for kick drums. The combo is pretty great at extracting that top end thwack. Not as precise as the default Wing EQ, but works mighty fine if you can take the time to dial it in. Side note: if you press and hold on on a bus button, it will consolidate all unmuted and source assigned channels onto the faders. So if you have two vocal sends to bus 1, pressing and holding Bus 1 will show both vocal send levels on fader 1 and 2 respectively with all other faders at -Inf and empty scribble strips.
Interesting to see how you run things on a wing compact! My drum layout / setup is pretty different! I use a sub monster inserted on a subkick for lots of juice, then the distressor on snare, wave designer on inner kick, pultec eq on overheads. Still get a plenty punchy sound, but its always interesting to see what works for others!
