My favorite studio of all time. Thank you all for watching, I hope you love it.
Andrew i don't know how to start.. I am basically in love with this job and studied and everything but I just don't know how to get in a studio its just that every one is ignoring me .
how did you get in your first studio job ? would love a reply greetings Felix
and if there is a possibility how can I communicate with you . I would love to
I know this hole sentence sounds weird but my English isn't the best anymore ... but it gets better ^^
keep going lover your videos Brother they are so inspiring
Love it. So awesome you were able to do the full circle video. Thank you for sharing in great detail EWS
Andrew this is where your got to learn? Wtf bro this is crazy. I always feel like I need to go to LA or some where but I been building my own university and just now applying for grants to try to get a bigger space and more gear.
One thing i will say Im head of a lot of people I know with a business and company bank account, full home studio and making money doing music. Granted I still work a regular job but a lot of people look up to me.
Most beautiful and inspirational studio I think i've ever seen, great video mate
To know that Andrew has worked on so many projects with so many artists, it's just mind blowing how humble he is. Also, this studio is definitely epic.
Appreciate you Arthur
Every video I watch there's always an engineer holding a cup.🤔😏
" You should have moved the mic or changed the mic before reaching for the EQ".
Preaching the word....
What an incredible facility. ❤
haha I legitimately almost said "preach it keith"
@@AndrewMasters . Amen Andrew. With that collection of mics one can certainly find the right tool for the job.
"You should have changed the room before reaching for the mic"
I’m so happy you had Brian Wilson and The Beach Boys as separate artists, because the story of Brian Wilson and SMiLE makes this video 1000000 times more fun and interesting
44:20 One little correction about the EMT plates: the reverb time is not controlled by changing the distance between speaker and piezo. The transducer vibrates the metal plate at a specific position and the piezos (one or two, depending on if it is a mono or stereo plate) are directly mounted to the plate, you cannot change the distance. But there is a big damper made from asbestos and by turning the wheel (later models could have motors so you could control that from the control room) you change the distance between vibrating plate and damper, it moves in parallel to the sheet metal. The bigger the distance between plate and damper the longer the reverb.
I have worked on multiple EMT plate reverbs, they can sound amazing but you really don't want to carry them around..
In my opinion no digital studio will ever be able to reproduce the warm beautiful sound that these analog studios will. The amazing sounds that came from this studio will never be matched. I’m sure it’s why so many artists are starting to go back to these studios again. I’ve always been so fascinated with studios and wished I had lived in an area where I could have started a career working in the studio.
Dude, I officilly took your channel as the motivational engine of my days.
Up in the morning, a coffee with a studio tour, and I'm good to go.
same here
This is truly an iconic studio! The rich and storied history just oozes from the walls. You are so fortunate to have gotten your start in the music world at such an extraordinary place, and they, in turn, were just as fortunate to have had you. I had such a blast hanging out there with you and Ariana back in the day. Good times!
Thanks Laney!
Oh boy did we have fun! That place was truly a special experience… that never really faded over the years. Thanks for watching Layla :)
I figured id watch 10 or 15 mins of this, cant believe its almost been an hour. This was a great video, thank you.
One of my favorite parts about this studio tour is how you can just see how comfortable Andrew is to be in his old stomping grounds :)
So much love for this place
Every studio tour I've ever seen, the dude giving the tour ALWAYS has a cup of coffee.
When you see a nearly 1 hour EPIC Studio Tour You kno you're in for something special, something EPIC!!!!
These studio tours are like going into an exotic car dealership and being in awe of the cars on the floor.
Love how you keep saying "so and in here we have...". Obviously your heart is still in that place. Love seeing this one man. Good stuff! Keep it up!
Just finishing my home studio (2years) just a cup of coffee and few So Ca fwy miles from Eastwest... I know what I'll be dreaming about tonight... and tomorrow and the next ...booking some time there... what an amazing place and vibe! thanks bro!.
One word (Wow). Never seen a reverb chamber or plates. This video has shown me everything. Thank you, thank you, thank you.
Studio five with the window is a GEM.
Love this Eastwest in every way - truly great ! Thank you for this sharing Andrew !
I came to know Eastwest by their libraries, now a subscriber to Cloud+, and I love that we can see more about the studios where the magic happen. Thanks Andrew
My absolute favorite of all your videos. Just wonderful.
@andrew, i appreciate you man. Keep doing what you do and keep the videos coming.
Getting close to 100k well deserved subscribers - One of my favourite channels!
Awesome studio! One of favorites so far! Keep it up
Wow, what an amazing tour! Great video my friend!
Incredible and stunning studio! Thank you for the great video and the insights!
Well done, thanks for this great visit and guided tour of such an iconic studio.
Bro! What a homecoming! That's really awesome. It's always great to go back to our roots and relive the journey. Great job Andrew!
Love love L O V E it!! You could absolutely see and hear the sentimentality coming from you as you shared this tour with us!! Great job Andrew!!
Thanks for the tour. It brings back a lot of memories. I tracked in Studio 2 once years ago and still have fond memories of an amazing space and gear.
This was beautiful. I love how comfortable you feel at East West. How you express it as if you're still there and coupled with Keith's affection that is obviously the magic that he has had with his employees. You can really tell he cares about you and everyone who's worked there.
Amazing studio!! Great video. Really enjoyed this one.
Such an iconic studio and probably the most in depth tour I've seen of it. Possibly my favorite video yet.
Such an amazing studio with rich history. This has got to be one of the best video by Andrew....thanks man!
What a historic studio !! Really enjoyed this one Andrew👏👏 👌🇨🇦
Epic studio and video. It felt like such a heartfelt studio visit. Great stories.
That was a realllllllly cool and special studio tour! Coming up more in the "home studio era" it is really nice to see the layout and functionality of how large format studios operate! Thanks Andrew
Thank you Keith and Andrew for a great glimpse of recording history. Past, Present, and undoubtedly the future as well. 🙏
Such a great studio and wonderful share Andrew ! Love your channel for specific questions, tours, history and context. Bravo!
A wonderful hour spent watching this.
Wow.
That was really cool. I have the Eastwest Studio plugin and enjoy the mics and sounds. Thanks for doing this and the truly EPIC RECORDING STUDIO (Eastwest Studio) for sharing.
This was awesome, thank you for making this studio tour!
i think its super cool not only that you continue to pass on your passion by what this place gave you, but that you finally "took us home" with you 🙂
Great, great studio. So historic. Thanks for setting that up. What fun!
Amazing large studio, Thank you for producing and narrating it all. Very interesting the years of artists and genres recorded there.
I just want to say thank you for what you do, Andrew. I was surprised to find myself so touched by this video. Your content really inspires me as a young musician. Peace.
This is an absolutely WONDERFUL and heart-warm video with so much great info and stories - thanks so much!!
This is one of your best, not just because of the epic history of the complex, but because of your relationship with and understanding of the place.
There are only a few studios in history that produced world class engineers... Ocean Way and Record Plant and Conway in LA, Little Mountain in Vancouver and Trident and Abbey Road and Air Studios in London. You are a part of a legacy you should be proud of.
Mate. Your passion and love for what you do really came through when you were reminiscing on how the studio brings in "new blood". Always a highlight of my week watching these videos. Visuals on these latest videos has been 👌👌👌 backing music is perfect. Your work as a "host", super comfortable and enjoyable. Keep up the good work legend. 🤙🏽
Smashing it Andrew!
Andrew, I love your studio tours. EastWest looks great thanks for sharing not just the studio tour but also your personal connection with it! Players Singers Do Their Thing, Like A Wedding That Needs No Ring, Captured By Those Who Have Gone Before, Stand In Places Of Those No More, Idol Figures In One's Head, Thinking Wondering What Was Said, Those Who Pass Through Such A Place, Leave With Respect For It Can't Be Replaced, Modern Times A Fleeting Thing, Just Like Weddings And Wedding Rings!
You've made lots of great videos, Andrew, but this was far and away my favorite. Love it. Thanks.
AMAZING video. Thank you for doing this.
Thanks for sharing this dude! Awesome studio absolutely unreal!!!
Loved this tour!!! Amazing. Also picked up Eastwest Space II thanks to your shoutout. Amazing software! Keep 'em coming sir!
What a incredible journey looking at the studio you cut you teeth at, and all the legacy & history of players that have recorded at Eastwest Studios!
Very cool, East West Studios!
That was wonderful. Thanks for going so in depth!
Great tour thanks - what history! I have a lot of respect for EastWest musical software packages and it's not surprising the studio is state of the art and musician friendly - I worked with Doug Rogers back in NZ in the 70's on some of our band and soundtrack projects and even then he was light years ahead of anyone else around in terms of his dedication to quality production at both a technical and a 'human' creative level - impeccable producer. Would love to record over there someday!
It's definitely the most inspiring studio tour I've ever seen !
Such a great video. I love hearing about all the history!
Very interesting. I'm so into seeing these rooms with all their history and amazing gear. And Seeing where you got your start and passion was interesting too...💻🎤🎧😎
Man, I've driven past this building so many times and had no idea! Really cool to see it from the inside.
Wow very mind blowing to watch this fully through. Thanks you for sharing your experiences with us!!
Whoa... this may be one of the best audio engineering channels in existence. Well done, and thank you!
I love this video. East West is like a museum.
This is by far my favorite episode you have done .. cause you built it up for years and then Boom! Chaka! Boom! You bring in the big Gun ! Nicely done
Excellent work Andrew! This is an amazing studio. We have seen the rooms, equipment, the million dollar mic closet, and even the amazing kitchen. The next step is to give us a tour of a real tracking, mixing and mastering session (virtual of course) in this studio. Since you started with these series of studio tours, Monday has become Great day 🎶🎵🎸👍
Thanks,
I really enjoyed your tour of East West.
Many years ago l had a studio supply and recording studio in Miami. This was a great walk down memory lane. 🙂
Absolutely great video !!! Congrats !!
Thank you so much for making this video. Working in a recording studio was all I ever wanted to do as a career. Sadly, it just wasn't meant to be, but it's still great to be able to see into these places where all this music is made that you can't just walk into if you don't have a reason to be there. Thanks again..
Great video .. you can see as you walk through the place it’s very special to you. 🤘🏼
Oh my God, man. That was absolutely incredible. What a dream come true it must have been to work in this magical place. I certainly have daydreamed quite a bit about it.
Love the mentality. Great studio and great people !
Waouhhhhhhh! Thanks for this visit.
As a long time subscriber to Composer Cloud Plus, this was a wonderful opportunity to witness. Thanks
Wow. Just, wow.
You come across very sincere and that makes this video so good.
This place is beautiful!
Yep. A wonderful video!
I was blessed enough to take a tour of this place and my God its is rich with some much history. So inspiring!
I haven't been in that building since the 80s when it was still United-Western. I was working on something for Mix at the time...
Sound-wise, this is where it started for me...becoming curious about the Wall of Sound, after noticing how textured the Mamas and Papas records were. Thanks for doing this and sharing your story, very relatable and charming.
Nicely done. Great tour.
the most impressive studio(s) I have every seen. Congrats on this video.
Thanks for sharing, it was a great experience just seeing this truly historical place. I'm in the UK but I love sweet water, just keep doing what you doing
Such good vibes!!!
Wow, this is the ultimate tour. Thank you...
Incredible 😱
Freaking amazing👏🏻🙌🏻
Incredible behind the scenes video. Fantastic history and definitely one of my favorites so far!🙏Thank you for sharing this!
Not only do we share a name ... we also share an opinion on this video!
LOVE East West and their products (Use their Composer Cloud service). Love being able to use their Spaces plugin to get the sound of their rooms on tracks, especially given the history of those rooms with different bands and film music recorded there. Absolutely iconic studio.
So rad, I am truly envious of you getting to work there @ 19 years old. You are living my dream, if I could go back in time I would do everything I could to get into a big studio like you did. I can’t imagine how much you learned.
I certainly learned a lot! lol.
floppy noisy sound, love this video, such a legend
I remember seeing the studio in the documentary "A year and a half in the life of Metallica" talking about the recording of the black album.
What section was that in?
Wow, that was truly awesome.
Beautiful!
very cool. This is like looking at candy in a candy shop.
great tour thanks for sharing in detail.
