Very cool getting that Crescent OG mono. If it were me I'd get the acoustic sounds as well for a stereo copy but I guess you can't have everything. Having just one copy complicates things less as well.
I love the Acoustic Sounds reissues - they are awesome. I am usually pretty tight with my collection. The only record I have two of is Blue Trane - one each of mono and stereo. ~Jason
Jason man…some great finds as always! The Cats is a great album, passed on an ojc a while ago and still kinda regret doin that, but another will come around some day. Really nice Whistle Stop too! Some psych on the shelf though??? What??? Love it! (No pun intended). The Rollins albums are of course…amazing. Just great finds, one day I’ll find at least an early copy of Colossus! Cheers man, take care!
Yup, you’ll get another shot at it. I’m certain. You’ve had some killer pickups too! I have a small classic rock section…the Love album…I was demoing new speakers and they played the first song on that album and it sucked me in. It’s not all jazz all the time…just most of the time *laughing*
@@TheJazzBasement I’m bound to see another, but didn’t know you had a small and I’m sure curated selection of rock. That’s cool! Great things I’m sure. Hopefully the speakers were up to par! Cheers Jason
Great finds, Jason. Thanks to your previous grail video, I picked up Soul Station on vinyl. It’s not an original copy as yours though, it’s actually the reissue that was cut by Kevin Gray. But either way, really happy to own it. It’s been fun discovering jazz records I never heard of before, so thank you for that. Now it makes sense why you consider it to be your #1 record, beautiful music indeed.
Yeah, I would put Soul Station up against any jazz album as a #1. Individual tastes may vary, but that’s my take. Glad you got the BN reissue…Kevin Gray did a great job based on a few I own. I would put Saxophone Colossus right there too if I am being honest . Check it out if you haven’t. ~Jason
@@TheJazzBasement Cool, I bought both Saxophone Colossus and Tenor Madness not that long ago. Both audiophile quality for around 24 dollars each. Fantastic records for a bargain.
@@TheJazzBasement Would be awesome to come across some originals, but I’m afraid my wallet won’t know when to stop, LOL. But, I’m glad you are finding the ones you been looking for. Especially nowadays, it’s like a treasure hunt to find them in decent quality.
The Cats I'm going to have to remember that and look for it my friend.. I enjoy your videos my friend especially when you mention the DC area reminds me of where I grew up man ✌️
Jason absolutely an amazing haul i definitely would love to hear your comparison on Saxophone Colossus two pressings . The Cats never seen that one great album a very hard one to find . That Crescent mono is the best way to hear that record congrats great grab and Coltrane on Atlantic is a must one of my first Coltrane acquisitions was Coltrane Jazz mono in the early 2000’s very underrated definitely looking for toward your equipment gear and room tour Jason take care . Killer finds, Jason! Saw The Cats a few years ago and wished I picked up,but that is one that I would love to grab! Major scores on those Rollins’ records! Coltrane Jazz is so underrated and that was one of the early Atlantic ones I grabbed! Definitely jealous of the multiple stores you have! I need to make a trip to DC to dig for jazz!
Hi Joe - yeah it’s been a crazy good start to the year. I think a lot of older collections are coming to market now covid is not as bad. That is my guess. But yeah, there are three or four store that have killer jazz so I am very lucky. ~Jason
Nice scores dude. Is this record store pretty fair with pricing? Years back I found a copy of that Saxophone colossus and art pepper modern art for 2 bucks each. Both were OG pressings and super clean. Score of a lifetime but due to life events had to sell both on eBay. Enjoying your videos keep it coming.
They are very fair actually and generally only sell stuff that is very clean. So I am happy to do business with them. I think the 1st press Saxophone Colussus would go for 2x what I paid on discogs or eBay for sure. That is an incredible story and sorry you had to sell. Hope you find them again soon! ~Jason
Beautiful stuff man 🔥
Thanks Dillon! ~Jason
Dude. Knocking em down. On fire. Congrats!
Hey Kieran - thanks! Yeah when it rains it pours. ~Jason
Dear Lord my man what a haul! I still get goosebumps thinking about the day I got my OG Sax Colossus. It’s immortal.
Yes sir - you know the feeling! ~Jason
Again, terrific finds and great stories. Had not heard of the Flanagan record. Thanks. (Loving the Coltane Jazz (Aus) in my collection! 😅)
Hi David - def check out some Tommy Flannigan! -Jason

Great video Jason.. you lucky guys in the US!!! If only we had the same love for jazz in the UK! Hens teeth over here!!
Hey Mark - yeah we have it pretty good in the US for jazz. Can’t complain! ~Jason
Oh man, super timing on that Crescent. I actually just got the Analogue Prod and it’s great, but very cool find!
Picked up their Colossus too! Ha
Yeah I’ve been recommending the AP mono stuff. I’ve picked up a few myself. They are awesome! ~Jason

@@trentsrecords highly curated ...50 or so records. Mostly Phish, Zeppelin, Pink Floyd, and grunge. Sometimes I need a break from the horns...
@@TheJazzBasement All great choices. I agree though, as you know, I do love jazz quite deeply as well. Sometimes just need something else though.
Subbed!!!!
Thank you! ~Jason
What a great finds,Jason….Rollins is a must-have and Coltrane Jazz is in some way always underrated….happy for you and greetings from Sicily

Most are findable, but it’s an exercise in optimizing patience vs price vs condition
Bwahahahaha! “Take a pause.”
The worst part is I actually think it is true….until it isn’t. Haha. Btw have a nice pkg coming your way this week.
Wow! You made out like a bandit!! I wish I lived in an area that had jazz floating around but no such luck. Keep the vids coming!
