I come back here often and everytime i do i feel at home again i could never thank him enough for all that he's done for me. There are no words. He's got all the words out for me and I'm so grateful for him. Tattooed "pitseleh" under my heart with a sewing needle and china ink when I was drunk and high at 18 then got it tattooed correctly later on when i had enough money covered it up with real ink and a beautiful handwriting. My bones get stronger when I connect with his music. Elliott is like calcium for me. This song and this live performance are so special to me. Saved my life.
I feel that. I know, I my arm's are a tribute to bottle up and explode and my life is still happening in part because I almost wasn't abd the right song at the moment when I needed to hear something honest but I didn't expect it to be so pretty too...
I feel you. Been a fan for over a decade now (im 27, discovered him at 15) I got a Ferdinand tattoo in the same placement as him to commemorate him. Hes said everything I could ever say and expressed every feeling I’ve ever had. Eternally grateful to him.
woah, the little rasp in his voice here gave me mad chills, yeesh. The only way this could be better is if somebody'd been there to do the backing vocals cause the harmonies in the original kill me every single time. Thank you so much for uploading, anyway!
There's always one guy in the comments totally confident all of Elliott's songs are about drugs. Even though he wrote this song in like 1994 when his worst vice was drinking a little too often.
Seriously. There are plenty of Elliott songs about drugs and alcohol-- A Fond Farewell, St. Ides Heaven, Strung Out Again, Pretty (Ugly Before), Independence Day, Needle In the Hay, etc. But not every damn song is about drugs. Songs like this one, it's pretty straight forward. Fucking Angeles is not about smack, people. Most of his songs are about depression, and relationships. You could fit every "Elliott drug song" onto one cassette tape. Yet like you said, there's always that one junkie who thinks that's all he ever wrote about. And I know plenty of junkies, I'll just leave it at that.
+Sean Cone However, I forgot to mention the most obvious drug song ever-- A Distorted Reality Is Now A Necessity To Be Free. But even then, it's not JUST about drugs, neither version is. But that's a damn fine title and lyric.
Definitely true, however Elliott did write songs about Drugs before he really did any. The guy who wrote his biography said his friends said he always wanted to try heroin and that even before he did it was on his mind often. Needle in the hay for example
GamesWithBrainz I meant more or less about his own struggles with drugs, I know a lot of his earlier songs were based off observations he made and weren't always autobiographical. It just gets irritating seeing someone being THAT GUY on every video. Lol
Framed hands make the moon come down I'm sick of my plans Tired of waiting around And I can't try 'cause I know that you Need somebody to ride Something to lose I'm waiting for a sign Something to lose You're always looking down from a picture frame It's sickening how we just get in each other's way And I can't try 'cause i know that you Need somebody to ride Something to lose I'm waiting for a sign Something to lose Calm down, calm down, calm down, calm down,.. Well, I can't be shocked Like I was before So don't throw your rocks At my window no more 'Cause I can't try 'cause I know that you Need somebody to ride Something to lose I'm waiting for a sign Something to lose Need somebody to ride Somebody to ride
So weird to hear some guy talking either on his phone or to someone with him, rather loudly, like he is oblivious to Elliott's performing? I bet somebody wishes he could have had a do-over! Rude.
Man this song.... i know exactly what this is all about. its about blastin dope, but hes basically telling you exactly whats going on at that time. thinking about the previous buzz while searching for the next. then veins fucked not drawing, and being sick as fuck. the amount of dope it must have taken for him to just not be sick must of disgusted him while setting up then waiting for relief. the buzz taking hours to find sometimes and over in no time.. damn i know what he had to be thinking atm
I realize your comment is over 6 years old, but if this video of him is from October of 2002 as it says, and I have no reason to think otherwise, then Elliott would have been sober at this time, exactly one year before his death, and at least from all of the information I have found and read, he was sober for at least a year at the time of his death. He never shot heroin, he smoked and snorted it. I believe that to be correct, as we can see he loved short sleeved tee shirts and I never saw track marks, though perhaps some cutting scars but that's a whole other bowl of wax.
@@Dani92670 this is heatmiser song, released in 94 so written sometime in the early 90s. Either way to me its pretty clearly not about "blasting dope" but i think elliot knew more than anyone that a song doesnt need an objective meaning, its up to the listener to decide what is "means"

Theres always "That Guy" for something. People who act like they know stuff when they dont are always assholes.
perfect version
Framed hands make the moon come down
I'm sick of my plans
Tired of waiting around
And I can't try 'cause I know that you
Need somebody to ride
Something to lose
I'm waiting for a sign
Something to lose
You're always looking down from a picture frame
It's sickening how we just get in each other's way
And I can't try 'cause i know that you
Need somebody to ride
Something to lose
I'm waiting for a sign
Something to lose
Calm down, calm down, calm down, calm down,..
Well, I can't be shocked
Like I was before
So don't throw your rocks
At my window no more
'Cause I can't try 'cause I know that you
Need somebody to ride
Something to lose
I'm waiting for a sign
Something to lose
Need somebody to ride
Somebody to ride
Everybody check the heatmiser acoustic set if you haven't yet! : )
People talkin need to stfu and behold the musical genius playing.
"Youre always looking down from a picture frame," and there's Elliott, looking down from a picture frame. :(
Also, this song is so underrated, by far my favorite off Cop and Speeder, and everyone says Neil outshines Elliott on that album.
something in this song reminds me of a built to spill song
Randy Described Eternity?
I can't decide if I like this version or the electric Heatmiser version better. Maybe it just depends on a mood.
Is that your picture on the wall? I want it.

This song is so incredibly gorgeous. I don’t like the talking, during the first part, though.
calm down
