    Thank you ... You are an artist in your own right. I’m a musician who has been painting artworks for a number of years.... I started to build my on canvas stretcher bars and also my own frames... I paint large artworks... And you have given me the push to buy Festool which I was considering...
    Thanks for your honesty and your cool tool shop. You also spoke to my spirit as a mutual artist. Keep on going... love your free and inhibited mind. It is rare to meet cool, honest and creative artists. Cheers from french Quebec, Canada.

    Simple, bare bones introduction to Festool system. Just what the doctor ordered.

    I work with metal and wood and have been sitting on the Festool fence for years. Watching your series with extreme interest, thanks!

    Great video! For those not familiar with the Festool MFT, it has factory installed stops for positioning the guide rail perpendicular to the fence. The method shown by Ryan certainly works well, but not everyone has the dogs for alignment. Also, using the factory stops will likely give you slightly more usable space for wider cuts.

      those factory installed stops can be fussy and need to be realigned and when they do it's more steps than just using dogs. truth be told the Mft should just come with dogs, it's almost a requirement.

    I have the Mft as well...you don't have to set up anything. Just use long dogs for the track and short ones for the material. I have the dogs that slide in the track, but any long ones would do as you would only have to but the track against them

    I appreciated this very much, as I have only recently started using the Festool system. So many Festool-oriented videos assume you are already up to speed. Seems to me you have chosen very well in getting your wood shop started. BTW, I am a bespoke cabinet and furniture maker. Not all woodworkers are "fellas." Hate that!

    Good review. I’m evaluating the MFT/3 as a table saw replacement (my shop is 192 sq ft plus I’m mostly hand tools anyways). How does it fare as a table saw replacement?

    Love the comment about the leg support bars because I recently bought an MFT table and had to buy those, and I said the same damn thing. For what the table cost it should have been included.

    Some people get the "system" and others dont. Festool have stupidly priced items in their range, however, the value of the purchase is continually realised long after the purchase date. Their tools also hold their resale value, unlike the other major brands out on the market. Their tools are not DIY or weekend warrior grade, they are designed to perform and to save the contractor time, which = money in the pocket.

    Have had the mft3 for several years now and have built two kitchens and numerous cabinets with it. I found the crosscut and protector accessories much too fussy to setup and I had to frequently recheck for accuracy as it would often go out of square with normal use. I sold them on eBay and now use the parf dogs and TSO rail square which I find quicker, easier and more reliable.

      Are you using any of the accessories that come with the MFT/3? Or just the table + the parf dogs and TSO rail square?

    Hey brother. Do you still own the table? Also have you heard of Dashboard Portable Workshop? They basically made the Festool MFT3 look like a small child in comparison.

    'However you have to set it up'. True. Again and again. If you just use the dogs to align the rail and a fence, no setting up required. Hundreds of dollars, not to mention time, saved. Built my own, for less than the cost of your 'bracing rods'.

    So you end up cutting the table each time you make a track saw cut? That's not good.

    I know the Germans build quality tools, but all that Plastic, Extrusion, and Pressboard selling for "Fine German Craftsmanship" prices makes it all cringe worthy.
    Looks like Tuner car bling.
    Like the opposite of American IRON that hotrods are built from.
    The Vac looks so "playschool". Yech....
    I've been a machinist for 35 years, and amateur wood worker for way less. I've got a $25 Dewalt Table saw from 1957, that I've had 10 years, and I just bought a classic Sawsmith Radial arm saw from 1962 that was a great deal. It has more metal in the blade that all the Festool in this video. Both classic highly capable machines made of Iron and Steel.
    I'm thinking OLD SCHOOL, Not Fe-stool, but to each his own.

    • @jpk2742
      @jpk2742 7 лет назад

      fun one yes but that old school stuff is no good for dust extraction and moving job to job because of the weight.

    • @funone8716
      @funone8716 7 лет назад +1

      i will give you that and agree. But I do very little in the field with my Circle saw, light weight sliding miter saw from Harbor freight, (plenty good enough) and cordless drills. No way can I or would I justify an $800 track saw. I'm just not seeing the value, but as I said, to each his own. Craigslist is teaming with low cost good quality older and Old School equipment that can be had for pennies on the dollar compared to the high end European "tools". As for dust extraction, HELLO....wood working is messy! Our fathers and grand fathers wallowed in saw dust in the wood shop. Fact of life. Deal with it, and break out the broom. Or keep the metal and wood shops separate.

    You can't use the word festool and value in the same sentence.Some of their products are decent for sure,but way way overpriced.
