A terrific entertainer and a genuinely lovely man. He was immensely versatile and had energy by the bucket-load. He's from a generation of comics who we'll never see the likes of again Thanks for the memories Mr Askey ❤ 😊
I was a bit dubious at first as to what this would be like as a biography , I had known of Mr Askey , when I was a child , I didnt know the humour of him and didnt really think he was that funny . I have to admit I am wrong . This man was a great artist , a very likeable and funny man. I also didnt know about his wife having Altzheimers , that must have been awful for him and his daughter . To sit and watch his fellow comedians and friends speak so highly of him is wonderful.
A friend of mine's Dad, no longer with us, knew Mr Askey. He told me that he would always pay people by personal cheque when he could, in the hope that people would keep the cheque as a souvenir rather than cash it, so he would save money.
I’ve seen you stuffing sandwiches with mutton instead of lamb on a Tuesday!’ Who do you think you are, Billy the Kid from Agony Wick? Where’s me washboard? How queer.
Never saw what was funny about him, even these choice cuts presented here don't change my opinion, I can only guess it's that Jewish confidence passing for talent that showbiz has always been so riddled with
A true jester, mainstream and so full of confidence and energy. True complements from Ken Dodd & Roy Hudd
He seemed a really friendly nice man ❤

Just discovered Arthur, thank u, thank u, thank u!
A very good actor and entertainer...
Loved Arthur Askey. He was the same off stage as he was on stage.
Big hearted Arthur...so full of that magic ingredient that people now days have never been exposed to.....pure comical talent!
His warmth and his easy charm and chat were his fortune
A remarkable man.
Thanks for the upload.
I thang yaw - for the upload :)

ARTHUR ASKEY COMEDY LEGEND I THANK YOU! WHAT WAS HITLER DOING SLEEPING DOWN THE TUBE STATION?
I remember the day he died. It was a big news story.
A friend of mine's Dad, no longer with us, knew Mr Askey. He told me that he would always pay people by personal cheque when he could, in the hope that people would keep the cheque as a souvenir rather than cash it, so he would save money.
Better than Tommy Cooper who used to tip people by saying "Have a drink on me" and giving them a teabag..
Where's me washboard?

From a time when we would watch ANYTHING on TV (in UK) no matter how awful.
@bomber command
Good reply mate.
And it's any differengt today? Just a wider choice of utter shite
Thank god comedians have improved.
Arthur Askey. About as funny as a dose of the clap
Watch Charlie's Aunt. You just don't get it.
Was crapbthe first time I saw it. No intention of doing so again. Horses for courses. You thik he’s funny, I don’t End of.
A shame Arthur had to die, very nice chap. It should have been the black hearted twats above.
And here’s me thinking everyone has to die. Must be my black heart, eh??
Love Askey but he completely ruined Ghost Train. Terrible casting him in that
About as funny as losing your job.
It just shows how simple minded people were in those days. A man who repeated his act constantly over the years. I never laughed once.
Apparently he wasn't that nicer person when he was off stage
Of course, you'd know that.
I wonder what he would make of all of this left wing woke crap
