  • I will show you a common problem that happens frequently with these vehicles .. due to the weight of the vehicle going against the steering lock button mechanism .. a small spring goes bad.. this is a quick easy fix to save you money however, I recommend you just buy a new housing and remove the old ignition lock cylinder by drilling a hole in the old housing that way you can turn the key to on position and align the dots on the lock cylinder key to remove it and place it on the new housing!! Thank you for watching, if this helped you out please help me out by subscribing to my channel and turning on the notifications. Thank you have a great day!! A huge thank you. I was lucky enough to have this fail happen in my garage. Without removing the cylinder from the car, I drilled through, removed the spring and cleaned it out with WD40 and compressed air. I was told an 8 week wait on a new column. Thankfully, I never ordered the column and had it fixed within the week with no new parts required. You saved me both time and money. Thank you again!

    Just wanted to say good luck in your new shop. As a business owner as well.. I feel for you these days. Are not like they used to be. When I first started my shop in 1980 you didn't have to fight for your money these days everyone wants something for nothing sounds like you know a little bit. About turning wrenches , more importantly you seem to know how to figure shit out. I've been a mech for a living for over 50 years . I like your presentation.

    Hy hy hy miky you are the best.
    I've a quick question please how could it be possible for a 2019 jetta push button start that can start the car with out key insid the vehicle? That's a 2nd time I've face this scenario i ignored the 1st one after doing some research.
    So far i was told 2nd key could be hidden somewhere inside the vehicle.
    like door panels or the chip could be placed near the ignition cylinder? What you guy's all think?

    • @MYKEYSAUTOMOTIVE
      @MYKEYSAUTOMOTIVE  3 года назад +1

      Could be that a previous locksmith disabled immobiliser or yes lost key inside car..

    Such a good video bro! I’m going thru this now with my daughter’s car. Key won’t turn all the way to ON and START position. It only goes to ACC.
    I have a couple of questions for you.
    1. It’s been 3 years since this video. Is this temp fix still working?
    2. Do you have a video or information on how to disassemble the entire housing and rebuild?
    3. Can you remove the lock mechanism without the original key? I have a full assembly that I got from a wrecker but I don’t have the key.
    4. When you drilled out that spot, how deep did you go in? Is that just a cover that come out easily?
    Thanks again bro!

    • @MYKEYSAUTOMOTIVE
      @MYKEYSAUTOMOTIVE  9 месяцев назад

      this is only temporary .. i recommend you get a new one and just install the new one ..it will stay working for a good long while but it won't activate the steering lock.. you see this problem
      is really common on all these vehicles . The problem starts when you lock the wheels at an uphill and all the weight pushes down on the steering lock mechanism.

    • @MYKEYSAUTOMOTIVE
      @MYKEYSAUTOMOTIVE  2 года назад +1

      You will have to call a locksmith to program your key.. unless you want to buy a $3500 car key programmer.... you can always buy a new shell and blade .. extract the chip and circuit board from old key and swap it into the new key!! Hope that helps
