I've been inspired by you two and following since central and South America. Thank you!The Brazil video was heartbreaking, but I'm happy you are back on the road! I'll be in Namibia in April!
She looks so happy in her natural habitat, the beauty that is Africa. May she bring you many beautiful memories. She's what we call a "staatmaaker". Safe travels.
Perfect, simple, smart build, and I think that truck looks great from every angle as well. I particularly like how well it blends in when everything is stored and covered. Nice to see you enjoy the excitement of going the distance in an older 4x4 and that it's not just a mechanism to add drama to the story. My journeys wouldn't be nearly as rewarding if I wasn't always having to fix things along the way. Hope it's a hell of a ride. Will %100 be following along and sharing!
LOVE the 2.2litre motor Hilux. Absolute donkey of a vehicle to drive, but amazing reliability and a joy to own. We had one in Botswana. I bought it in 1996 sold it in 2010. Travelled all over the entire southern african region. By the time we sold it (regret this decision to this date), it had done 524,000km. No issues at all. Not once did it let us down. Some of our most fondest of travel memories are in our Hilux. We called it Pietrie. Aptly named after a little cartoon dragon who, with effort, could do everything the big dragons could do. When we sold it we both realised we had let go of a family member. It was one of the most emotional moments in our lives. Have fun guys!
What a great video. Loved being able to see Joburg. You found some really friendly people there, as South Africans often get a bad press you don't think about all the good guys. Good luck.
I bought a Hilux 1989 2.4 D in the Netherlands in 2011. Travelled every year for about 3 months in it. Already 80.000 km in Southern Africa. I wish you wonderfull travels. Remind you: even a Hilux may need a lot of care and it’s no fun to break down in the middle of …. Go well, be safe, try to travel with two cars.
Great video! I live in Johannesburg and I bought a 1992 Toyota Hilux - raised body 4X4 and I have been slowly kitting it out for traveling in Africa. I am about to buy a roof-top tent. It is an amazing vehicle where you trade power and fuel consumption for reliability. It does about 6km per liter.
Hi everyone, it's nice to see beautiful places through your beautiful videos of the interior of africa with a 4x4 truck like yours. Greetings from Pontassieve, province of Florence!
Best thing that you possible could have done was to buy an old reliable Toyota to do your trip in. Your trip will be a success and you will enjoy every minute of it. May you have a safe and enjoyable trip. Keep a close eye on that vehicle, the down side of owning it is that they are stolen frequently. Something as simple as a chain and lock through the wheels at night will save you a lot of problems later. Good luck and please keep us updated with regards to your trip.
I own a Mitsubishi Dodge Raider 1986 . Left Hand Drive Done three Trips from Johannesburg to Angola . Done trips like yours ! Still drive it ! Big fun ! Enjoy your Hi Lux
Good morning from Cape Cod ⛵ I was happy to see you guys are back with another adventure and this time in Africa. Good luck with your new truck hopefully it stays in one piece with no major problems. Be safe and have a great time guys ✌️🇺🇲
Enjoy your time in South Africa! When you first appeared on the 4x4Community forum, asking for advice, I decided to follow you guys. I'm glad to see you have a bakkie for your needs. Have a "lekker!" time!
these bakkies with a 3l d4d (KD as the Australians know it i think) engine is one of the best 4-wheel drive experiences I've ever had. the lexus v8 is nice for the soundtrack but to much horses for courses.
We did a self-drive safari last April for 16 days in Botswana. We did Chobe riverfront, Savuti, Khwai, Moremi in the Okevango then Nxai pans and Elephant Sands. Looking forward to your adventures there.
Glad to see you back into exploring! The hilux setup is far less conspicuous, it gets my vote over the landy. Parking garage access is pretty sweet too.
Welcome to our neck of the woods! Awesome rig .... as they say in the classics, 'There's no 'lux like a Hilux'! Can't wait to see what you get up to! Enjoy Southern Africa, best place in the world!
In Italy, in the province of Florence, I have a small, completely original Suzuki Jimny 4x4 with a 1.3 liter M13a petrol engine from 2001, which I use for trips in nature and in the mountains on dirt roads and forests, as well as for trips on muddy terrain. On the road I use a set of retreaded Ziarelli tires, Mud Power m+s model 205-70-15, and then I have a set of Hankook Dynapro atf RF 10 m+s off-road tires in the original size 205-70-15.
@overlandworld2253 I wrote to you about my Suzuki Jimny 4x4 off-road vehicle because I am also an off-roader like you. Sorry if I wrote to you that I have a Suzuki Jimny 4x4 but I am talking about my little Suzuki Jimny 4x4 off-road vehicle! (Hi from Pontassieve, province of Florence, Italy!)
@lmalesci I am still confused. You are an off roader. Overland travel is a lot different and you would have to leave Italy to travel other countries. The two things are not the same. I understand that you are happy and like your car, but maybe it would be better to have your own RUclips channel for people interested in a Suzuki and off roading? I have driven all over Italy and Sicily and will be doing it again to test my car before going to South America.
Awesome! Nice rig to travel in. I still have my 88 Hilux Longbed single cab with a utility shell/cargo door. Still running it out here in the Mojave Desert of California..
Excellent videos I just found your stuff yesterday and am looking forward to watching more of these pro videos. I will never travel to these places so your videos are excellent replacement. When I saw the license plate on the truck I said hey that looks like my plates.
I can’t wait for more the video ended too soon I had my history done from a on line company If you do it they go back to your DND Adam & Eve, so you’ll see we all started in Africa
Great video, and I love the Hilux and your fitout. I was looking at doing a similar trip but ran up against a law that appears to prohibit people who are not South African residents buying a vehicle there. How did you deal with the purchase and insurance on the Hilux? Have an amazing experience!
Haha sort of a mystery! The instrument cluster was replaced because the original wasn't working, this one reads 409,XXX but it should be lower... But who knows lol
We have the same pickup truck but its running on a 2y motor, we have owned it for close to 10 years and ever since we bought it we have never had really major problems with it, I have been travelling with it for the last 2 years and every time I take a trip on it, it feels fresher and drivable than before. I think I need to give it a nice name, any recommendations? 🤔🤔 #Botswana
Hi, I live on the Garden Route and have very nice campsite on the Southern entry to the Baviaans mega reserve. If you are in the area please make contact
Greetings from the province of Pontassieve in Florence, Italy. I see many people when they drive out of town on dirt roads in the presence of mud, and you see that they drive off-road, equipped with anti-mud tires, and on-road and off-road tires! One question: which tires are most used in your area for driving on rough terrain with mud and snow? Do you use M+S off-road tires or M+S off-road tires?
Hey guys, I heard it's hard to get a car registered under your name if you are visiting using a tourist visa. Can you let me know how you guys managed to do it?
So far, everyone has been super friendly and we're having a blast. As far as Africa itself goes, we're still only in South Africa, but it is a very beautiful country.

Bravo. So sick of heavily sponsored rigs. If you're not half broke it's not a real adventure.
Can we get that on a bumper sticker?
@@reed.k.h That's a really good idea! That and the "real trucks rattle" sticker that already exists...
2:16 the phone call make me feel like i was there!!!!!😊😂😂😂😂😂❤

How did you buy and register a south african vehicle on your name
Hey guys, I heard it's hard to get a car registered under your name if you are visiting using a tourist visa. Can you let me know how you guys managed to do it?
Wrong, everything rusts in Durban, except that Toyota 😂😊
How did you register it in your name in SA??
Best car you will ever drive in your life except for the landcruiser!
If you are not Residents, what is the trick to buying and registering a vehicle in SA?
Didnt know u could buy a car in another country visiting
