There is an 80s NZ band you would probably like based on your reaction. Called Ardijah. That is a New Zealand accent BTW. Different if you live down here. New Zealand has a lot of soulful singers. Kiwis don't like being mistaken for Aussies. Much like Canadians don't like being called Americans.
OMG nail on the head with the Ardijah comparison 🎉. So right, I grew up in Auckland from 70's to 90's and Ardijah were blessed because they shared love through their talent. Just like Nesian Mystic, Herbs, Mark Williams, Jon Stevens etc ❤🎉
Six60 is a band from Aotearoa New Zealand the lead singer there is Matiu Walters, glad you discovered his silky smooth vocals, treat yourself and listen to more from Six60!
Didn't realise you'd even heard Six60 before (but very happy) cos I didn't see previous reaction. I'm hoping that one of the requests in your queue is Kia Mau Ki To Ukaipo (Live). It's a fun watch
Love this! Yes Six60 is a 5 piece band. Matiu Walters is lead singer, Ji Fraser is lead guitarist, Marlon Gerbes is on keys and guitar, Eli Paewai who was playing along with Matiu in the video is on drums and Chris Mac is on bass guitar. They originated in Dunedin, New Zealand in the year of 2009. They got there name from the flat that they all lived in and started making music together. 660 Castle Street is what is called, it is now an iconic tourist attraction that so many people go and visit. Six60's first album came out in 2011. Their first single was Rise up 2.0. Six60 have travelled all over the world over the years doing what they love and then coming home to New Zealand for Six60 Saturdays in the summer. This is where the boys play only on specific Saturdays for their NZ tour. Matiu is very dedicated and determined he has a goal of what he wants and works very hard to achieve that, at one point the band was very close to breaking up as they got messed around with record labels, this was very hard for them particularly Matiu. . This is why he's an incredible singer because his way of getting through the tough stuff is through his singing and guitar. . Six60 is one of our top bands in New Zealand. Sold out stadiums to 50,000 people and they will do it again this year for the home shows. Love those boys, they've helped me and so many others through so much. Very grateful for their music and not giving up.
We have soo much talent in NZ. You might love Pieter T vocals too which remind me a bit of Matiu from Six60. I’ve been a Six60 fan since 2011. I’m glad the world has caught up x
Bro… you have got to treat your ears to the soulful sound of Dallas Tamaira. Songs “Spider” & “No Flowers”. FYI- Dallas is/was the lead singer of the group ‘Fat Freddy’s Drop’ Oh and by the way - they’re all New Zealanders 🤣✌🏽
Calling our new zealand singers Australians. Iz just like calling Americans canadians. Just saying & we know how much you to countries just love each other😆😅🤣😂😁😄
We have the same trouble trying to distinguish Canadians from Americans. There are 5 members in Six60 - Marlon Gerbes (Synthesizer), Eli Paewai (Drums), Chris Mac (Bass Guitar), Ji Fraser (Lead Guitar), Matiu Walters (Guitar/Vocals). Only To Be, Forever, Lost ft Auckland Philharmonia Orchestra (360p on Vimeo), Closer (Lyric Video), Don't Forget Your Roots, Up There (Lyric Video), Don't Give It Up, Bitter End, Raining, White Lines, Vibes, Rivers etc are also worth listening too.
🔥 Awesome Tune this one . Have been listening to Six60 for Awhile Now ,Best thing about Working with my Kiwi brothers is alot of Kiwi music is played and New Artists & Bands get Portraited 🎸🎤 Yeah Boi 🎼🎶🎵♨️
