I feel like that next stage of meeting the parents is another job interview - getting your foot into the door for a potential full time permanent position as wife and daughtinlaw. I also feel the tips presented will apply for all cultures even with the gf not speaking the same language as the parents. I went over to my boyfriends house for the first time and I met his mom, step dad, and grandparents. I helped his grandpa (who is a professional baker) make a cake (because I love to bake). His mom wasn’t home when I first got there, but everyone else was. His grandparents and I got along extremely well. But his mom flat out ignored me the entire time once she got home. She kept talking to my boyfriend about this other girl who she wants him to marry (her best friends daughter, who is close friends with him). She was saying things like “How would (other girl) feel about this?” “Why didn’t (other girl) come over.” His mom is obsessed and in love with this other girl and she wants him to marry her, so his mom didn’t like me before she met me. I don’t know what to do and how to improve my relationship with her, especially when she doesn’t give me a chance to try. Any advice? Everyone keeps telling me I need to break up with him, but it’s not his fault. I love him so much, and I could never break up with him for something that’s not his fault. HELP! 🥺
Did u talk about it with ur boyfriend? And what did he say to his mom when she told him that? I know its hard, but I think its good to just let her know what it does to u when she talks like this. If thats too much for u. Ask ur boyfriend to talk to her and also ask what he thinks about it.

maybe leave it for the second or third visit just incase something backfires or goes wrong. unless they have a good sense of humor... so it doesn't make things awkward but if you both think its alright go for it
Hi, I want ask you what should I do or how should I respond when his father start screaming at him when I am next to him? Should I be quet or say smothing like: why he is that agressive to his own son? I know his father did this in front of his friend (girl) and that is one of the reasons why he is afraid to introduce me or any other girl his parents

So my (not official.. yet) guy lives like 40 minutes away (we met last October at a Christian event, and had been talking- textin, calling, facetiming- everyday ever since. I met his family for the first time last week while hanging out with our mutual friends. His family situation is a little different (his grandparents adopted him) so he kinda has 2 moms (his birth mom and his grandma/mom) and then he has his granddad too (He calls them mamaw, pappy, and mom). His cousins are technically his nieces and nephews and his aunt is technically his sister. Its weird. Anyway. I met them before I watched this video. His pappy seems to really like me, his aunt/sis is rlly welcoming, his nieces and nephews/ cousins rlly (and I mean REALLY) love me, and his mom is already calling me his girlfriend. She also scrolled thru my fb ;-; ... Anyway. His mamaw had been a little against me prior to meeting and was a little passive aggressive when I was attempting to help her when the guy started bleeding a little. She seems to have mellowed out a bit but I really need to win her over bc my guy listens to her and if she says no... yeah. But he thinks she is starting to realize she can't stop him from liking me and is loosening up. Anyway I kinda wanted some input... ~Belle
I wanna also mention that he tells me abt other girls that he sort-of likes, but always says that I'm the one he likes the most (he's a very shy, awkward Christian guy that is easily embarrassed and doesn't say these kinds of things without a bit of a struggle.. so I rlly trust that he means it. A problem I have tho: I'm super physically affection, I love cuddling but um.. he kind of.. um.. can't handle it if you know what I mean. So if you have any tips that would be great, thanks
@Mariely Leonardo he finally asked me out in august. Not even 2 weeks in, i realized it was a mistake. Broke up with him in october 😅. He was actually rlly toxic, it was just hidden by the rose-colored glasses 👀 but i did find a man who treats me well after i broke up with that guy. And im in a happy healthy relationship with a better understanding of what i want and what i dont ❤
Don't escape it. If religion will be a deal breaker or cause friction, it should be discussed with your partner before meeting them and that partner should address it early on and ask for acceptance, or set a boundary that it will not be discussed, like politics or sex. LOL I just now thought "We can discuss religion if you wish, but that will immediately follow with discussion about the other two topics, politics and sex. All or none, waddaya say?
