Cactus Plants in my Collection that no longer flower for me
Lovely video Lyn, allowing us to admire your wonderful collection of plants. It's a pity that some of your cactus plants did not bloom for you for some years now. Hope they will rest for this year and will flower next year. They did have amazing flowers as shown on the video! Maybe changing the green cover into a white one will help! Too little sun is a problem, but too much is worst... It is ruining all my plants, I have to create something to put them in away from the sun! Thanks for sharing Lyn! Hope you have an amazing afternoon and evening my friends Lyn and Hans! Lots of love and happiness to you both!
So happy you loved the video Sylvia :-D and I really hope to see the cacti that haven't bloomed for years bloom again in the future, and I can really understand the dilemma with too much sun too, last year we had a heatwave and lots of sunshine and a lot of the plants especially the Epiphytic cacti went yellow and brown, so sorry to hear that your plants are getting ruined by the sun, and well done on creating a protection from the sun for them, in June we had lovely sunny weather but we have had rain every day in July, the Irish climate is crazy haha, thanks so much Sylvia for your wonderful Friendship and amazing comment and support and for watching, and Hans and I are sending you lots of love and happiness and PLANT POWER to Malta for a wonderful afternoon XXX
Very interesting video Lyn! And what a collection! 🤩🤩🤩💖🌵 XXXX
So happy you loved the video and the collection Vera :-D and thanks so much for your wonderful comment and support and for watching, and sending you lots of love and happiness and PLANT POWER for a wonderful weekend XXXX
Those are some very scary spines 😮 ouch!! I always love to see Hans special
Swedish plants 🌵 very cool 😎 how it all branches out. Wishing you and Hans a bright day tomorrow full of sunshine 🌞 😘
Hans Cholla cactus really is a spiny beast haha :-D and we are dreading having to repot it as its desperate for a repot and we will need to have iron gloves haha, thanks so much Pam for your wonderful comment and support and for watching, and Hans and I are sending you and FEATHERBABY Turkey lots of love and happiness and CRYSTAL POWER to California for a wonderful Wednesday today XXXX
I checked your weather report Lyn and you have been getting mild weather, but no worries because you can just let the cacti be on the dry side and let them do what they have to. I have had super wet Summers and my cacti have hardly flowered and I had to let them be dry most of the Summer. You're doing the right thing to let them be.
Awwww thanks so much Newman :-D I am keeping them all on the dry side with this wet and grey cloudy weather, last Summer it was roasting with the heatwave haha but this July has been so wet and with very little sunshine, thanks so much Newman for your wonderful comments and support and for watching, and sending you lots of love and happiness and PLANT POWER to Japan for a super Sunday ahead XXX
And yes, the new polytunnel cover will help Lyn. Even in my climate I only ever use a nylon netting that just scatters sunshine, but doesn't reduce the amount.
Thanks so much for your awesome comments Newman XXXX
Oh my goodness those rebutia flowers are simply amazing! Good information, as always 🩷🌵
So happy you love the info and the Rebutia flowers are incredible, I really hope I can get them to bloom again, thanks so much Nancy for your wonderful comment and support and for watching, and sending you lots of love and happiness and PLANT POWER for a wonderful weekend XXXX
Very beautiful and interesting video Lyn! Greetings from Elda 👏🌺❤🌞🏜🌵
So happy you loved the video Elda and thanks so much for your wonderful comment and support and for watching, and Hans and I are sending you lots of love and happiness and PLANT POWER to Albania for a wonderful weekend XXXX
I hope your Rebutia perplex will bloom for you soon! the bloom on that cactus is so stunning!
Thanks so much Robin :-D the Rebutia perplexa really is a beautiful bloomer, it would be so amazing to see this stunner bloom again for me, thanks so much Robin for your wonderful comment and support and for watching, and sending you lots of love and happiness and PLANT POWER for a wonderful weekend XXXX
Awesome video, Lyn 😊 Lovely blooms at the beginning. I’m sure I’ll have many in my collection that will never flower for me. I don’t mind though, I always think of flowers as an extra bonus if they appear. July has been poor here as well where the weather is concerned. Thank you for sharing with us as always. Have a wonderful day from Edith & myself to you and Hans ❤️🌵☀️🌼🌸🌺🏜
So happy you love the video Daz :-D and so true flowers are an extra bonus, I love cacti with their awesome shapes and spines and I know that many especially my Ferocacti are unlikely to flower in my climate and Cacti are so amazing to grow with or without flowers, the weather has been so bad here for July, June was really lovely and lets hope we get an Indian Sumer haha, thanks so much Daz for your wonderful Friendship and amazing comment and support and for watching, and Hans and I are sending you and beautiful Edith lots of love and happiness and PLANT POWER to England and Singapore for a super Sunday XXXX
Beautiful blooms and cati I have 5 blooming for the first time I enjoyed it
Thats fantastic you have five cacti blooming for the first time for you Gary, congratulations, thanks so much for your wonderful comment and support and for watching, and sending you lots of love and happiness and PLANT POWER for a wonderful weekend XXXX
ashes and root space will ensure blooming!!! Great video! I love it!
So happy you loved the video Parnell and Jakaiya :-D and thanks so much guys for your wonderful comment and support and for watching, and Hans and I are sending you both lots of love and happiness and PLANT POWER for a wonderful weekend XXXX
Don't worry Lyn😌🙏💞I have a Thelocactus bicolor that refused to flower this year again😱It's wonderful that your gymnocalycium saglionis and parodia flowered💞
Awwwww thanks so much Newman :-D and I was amazed to see the Parodia flower as the weather in Ireland and UK has been so wet for July, its so different to the weather last year as we went though a heatwave last year, thanks so much Newman for your wonderful comment and support and for watching, and sending you lots of love and happiness and PLANT POWER to Japan for a wonderful weekend XXXX
Good call Lyn 😊 I've noticed my Owcho hasn't had so many flowers as she gets older. A few years ago she had about 10 flowers at once, this year she only had 4 ☹ Hope you and Hans have a lovely evening 😊😊🌵🌵
haha I think that Cacti can be a bit like humans when they lose their fertility and I think many of my older cacti are going through the 'Cactipause' haha, thanks so much Ziggy for your wonderful comment and support and for watching, and Hans and I are sending you and Jackie lots of love and happiness and PLANT POWER for a super Sunday today XXXX
Good luck with the new polly tunnel I agree the weather has been horrible no sun at all in the last month here in the uk
I am so looking forward to getting a new polytunnel, yes the weather has been absolutely horrible here in Belfast, so much rain and very little sun, I am sick of it LOL! especially after a cold start to spring, we got a couple of good weeks in June but thats all, lets hope the weather gets better and we get an Indian Summer, thanks so much for your wonderful comment and support and for watching, and sending you lots of love and happiness and PLANT POWER for a wonderful weekend XXXX
Hello Lyn! Very interesting video. I have a couple of thoughts. Perhaps producing flowers is like humans having babies. Maybe they are just tired and need a long rest. And the two that haven't bloomed since the move are just protesting they wanted to stay where they were. This is the best way to let you know. Haha
Seriously sending you and Hans peace, love and Unblooming Cacti Power for a Freaky and Fantastic Friday from your friend in Georgia!
hahahaha Jeff :-D yes I think my cacti are taking the laid back Irish approach and enjoying too much of a rest haha, I have decided from now on when I go into the polytunnnel every morning that I will be singing to them the song 'You don't bring me flowers anymore' hahaha :-D thanks so much Jeff for your wonderful Friendship and amazing comment and support and for watching, and Hans and I are sending you lots of love and happiness and FUNKY UNBLOOMING CACTUS PLANT POWER haha to Georgia for a wonderful weekend XXXX
Beautiful blooms Lyn, nice colours. Some of my cactus don't flower as well 😭😭, just got to be patient. 🌵🌵🌵⚘😘❤
So happy you love the blooms Peter :-D Hans said I should sing to them the wonderful song 'You don't bring me flowers' hahaha, but then if I do with my awful singing they definitely wont bring me flowers haha, thanks so much Peter for your wonderful Friendship and amazing comment and support and for watching, and Hans and I are sending you and Ellyn lots of love and happiness and PLANT POWER to Downunder for a wonderful weekend XXXX
Tx Lyn, this was another very interesting video! I have had a good number of 'first' flowerings this year, and it is always a miracle and a tremendous blessing to see a flower appear. Weirdly, a few of those have been on my indoor windowsill plants, and we haven't even had much sun at all for the past 6 weeks or more. The anticipation of a new flower is so joyful! I remember seeing one of those Rebutia's on your channel before: there are no words for that! To see exotic nature like that, in this part of the world, not even in a botanical garden: well done Rebutia, and well done you! Lots and lots of rain, not very warm here in Dublin since mid June or so. Sending your plants good light, and may they wisely choose the right time for them to flower : )
So happy you loved the video Nathalie :-D and thats fantastic news you have had a lot of first flowerings for you, and the first flowerings are always so extra special, argh yes the weather has been so bad for July and so much rain and not much sun, and really disappointing weather especially compared to last years heatwave haha, thanks so much Nathalie for your wonderful Friendship and amazing comment and support and for watching, and Hans and I are sending you lots of love and happiness and PLANT POWER from Belfast to Dublin for a super Sunday afternoon XXXX
Seems I have a few of these myself. And as you say, still don't know why on some of these. Like my oldest lophos . Seems they stopped last year, growing ok, just no flowers. And they were the most reliable bloomers before. Who knows. They are 42 years old now. Don't know if it has anything to do with it. Or maybe excessive heat!! Thanks for sharing Lyn!!! From Morris Park in the Ozarks, have a wonderful day!!! Peace, Love, Plants!!!✌️💖🌵🌿🌻🌳🌸🍀🌴🌾💐🌱🌷🌹😃👍
It really is so odd how some of our cacti stop flowering especially after years of flowering, I thought it may be due to the Irish Summers haha, but when I lived in Sligo in the west of Ireland it was much cloudier and rainier in the summer than it is here in Belfast and I had lots flower then that don't now, and thats so awesome your oldest Lophs are 42 years old, I am convinced some cacti go through the 'cactipause' haha :-D thanks so much Clyde for your wonderful Friendship and amazing comment and support and for watching, and Hans and I are sending you and beautiful Deb and all the pets and plants all lots of love and happiness and PEACE, LOVE, PLANTS and PLANT POWER to Morris Park for a super Sunday XXXX
Cool video. I have several Lophs in my house but only 3 flower. 2 are williamsii and one is a Fricci. I move them from a southeast window to a southwest daily. Very healthy plants, I just can't seem to get the others to bloom
So happy you loved the video Johnny :-D yes haha I am convinced some of our cacti can be stubborn and refuse to bloom, I will be going into the polytunnel singing the song 'You don't bring me flowers anymore' hahaha :-D thanks so much Johnny for your wonderful comment and support and for watching, and sending you lots of love and happiness and PLANT POWER for a wonderful weekend XXXX
Good info, thanks🌵
thanks so much Marcha for your wonderful comment and support and for watching, and sending you lots of love and happiness and PLANT POWER for a wonderful weekend XXXX
I think you nailed it girlfriend. More sun. Have you ordered the new poly tunnel and now waiting for it to arrive? keep us posted.
Thanks so much Marie :-D we are so excited at getting a new polytunnel and are checking out quite a few different polytunnels, we rent our house and are looking for a polytunnel that is good quality and strong with a good solid frame and thick clear cover, but one that can also be collapsed down so we can move it with us if our Landlord decides to sell the house in the future, I will definitely keep you posted, thanks so much Marie for your wonderful comment and support and for watching, and sending you lots of love and happiness and PLANT POWER for a wonderful weekend XXXX
Hi Lyn, I love the video, I've only had my cacti a couple of years, hopefully mine will flower eventually in the future. I guess they have a mind of their own ha ha xxx❤️❤️
haha Jane :-D they really do have a mind of their own, I will start singing the song 'You don't bring me flowers anymore' to them haha :-D thanks so much Jane for your wonderful comment and support and for watching, and sending you lots of love and happiness and PLANT POWER for a wonderful weekend XXXX

Collecting plants is not like collecting knickknacks in a curio cabinet... 😉🙃🤣
We are dealing with the weather (even indoors...), pests and all sorts of factors... 😬
Here on the west coast of Norway we had a lot of sun in June, but lower temperatures and not so much sun this month. So much the same as you. Better than the 45°c that they have in southern Europe, though... 😲
I have 5 buds on my Echinopsis subduendata (a cluster). And it looked like they had stopped growing. I actually felt the buds a few days ago to find out if there were something firm in there, or if they had dried out. 🤣 They were firm. And now one has started to grow out, it's about 8 cm now. So I will at least get one flower. That will be my first, since the plant was bought this Spring, so that flower will be very appreciated ! 🤗 ... 💮🌵💮
Thats fantastic news you have 5 buds on your Echinopsis subdenudata Brit :-D and the flower will be incredible, Echinopsis subdenudata are one of the most beautiful of cactus bloomers, yes the weather has been so awful here in Ireland and June was a good month with lots of sun and heat but July has been a washout haha, but I remember last years heatwave and how uncomfortable it was and I think of Southern Europe with that heat at 45c and thats way to hot for me too haha, last year the cacti struggled with the high heat in the polytunnel and it was tough to keep on top of mealybugs and spider mites as they love the dry high heat, I bet your Echinopsis will be showing its beautiful big flower for you very soon, thanks so much Brit for your wonderful comment and support and for watching, and sending you lots of love and happiness and PLANT POWER for a wonderful weekend XXXX
My issues the same. No sun due to the huge tree over our house. I did buy a plant light, but I don’t think that will be enough. They will have plenty of sun in the winter when the leaves are gone, but that won’t be helpful since the cactus will be dormant then. 😢. Sorry your pretty babies aren’t blooming anymore either.
So sorry to hear you have this problem too, I notice the two big trees outside our front of the house block out a lot of the light coming through the window in Summer, but in winter when the leaves are gone light floods right in through the windows and into the back of the room, I wish it was the other way round for us, thanks so much Shanti for your wonderful comment and support and for watching, and sending you lots of love and happiness and PLANT POWER for a wonderful weekend XXXX
@@desertplantsofavalon Thank you Lyn! At least they get sun part of the year. 🥰
@@LeafyConversations XXXX ❤❤❤❤😃😃😃😃😃
Great video, one of my lobivia and rebutia skipped this season flowering😒 a bit sad when they don't want to bloom.
So happy you loved the video Magda :-D it really is a shame when our cacti don't bloom when they did the previous years, and this July has been so bad with the weather, thanks so much for your wonderful Friendship and amazing comment and support and for watching, and Hans and I are sending you lots of love and happiness and PLANT POWER for a super Sunday XXXX
One of my stenos stopped flowering and this morning after the second bad year I've just found spider mites on a different steno.. so now I'm treating everyone with systemics.
Argh spider mites are such a pest Alex
Nice maam

No flowers on my snake plant this year. Not the prettiest flowers, love them though.
Interestingly, one of my lophophora has flowered three times in three months. I couldn't believe it!
Thats fantastic one of your Lophs has flowered three times already, thats a happy Loph haha, I love the smell of Snake plant flowers and they are like little white ribbons so cute, thanks so much for your wonderful comment and support and for watching, and sending you lots of love and happiness and PLANT POWER for a wonderful weekend XXXX

Another great video 🎉
At around 2:22 minutes you are talking about the tall cactus with the tiny red flower for Hummingbirds, there is a Euphorbia (I think ) that's round and has several in the pot (kinda blue dark green- ish) what is it? Also would you please feature it in a video? I think it's the most incredible plant I've ever seen tied with Hoya undulata ❤
So happy you loved the video Barbie :-D the Euphorbia is a Euphorbia horrida a wonderful very cactus looky likey and it is a really incredible Euphorbia, I will definitely plan on featuring a video abut this awesome Euphorbia in the coming week/s, thanks so much for your wonderful comment and support and for watching, sending you lots of love and happiness and PLANT POWER for a super Sunday XXXX

I enjoyed the video. Does age prevent the cacti from blooming? Thanks Lyn!
So happy you loved the video Carol :-D yes I definitely notice my very old plants seem to either not produce as many blooms as they used to or stop blooming, I have heard other growers say the same, I am convinced that cacti go through the 'cactipause' haha :-D thanks so much Carol for your wonderful comment and support and for watching, and sending you lots of love and happiness and PLANT POWER for a wonderful Wednesday XXXX
I have a problem I have A Cactus that I am unable to identify the closest I can find is what is called a lady finger . It resembles the lady finger and it has beautiful red flowers in the Spring in clusters but I cannot figure out exactly what it is I need to know how to care for it it's growing like a weed right now I have it in direct son the rain water is it good drainage and it has the clusters of flowers already they are and I think it's gonna Bloom but it hasn't done anything as of yet But it bloomed Non-stop for a month or 2. Where can I go to find out what this is
Hi Victoria :-D if you are on Facebook you could post up a photo on the British Cactus & succulent Society community group page, you don't need to be in U.K its a group open for all cactus growers around the world, there are lots of helpful growers on there who would be able to help to ID your cactus, I bet your cactus is a beauty, thanks so much for watching and sending you lots of love and happiness and PLANT POWER for a super Sunday XXXX
