He is not an asshole. He was born in different era when parents don't coddle their children like now. Pretty sure most parents at that time were the same as Miyazaki.

Never judge someone based on a video. Who knows, maybe that employee was doing really bad for a long time, or acting even worse in the studio. All we saw was a short clip that tells us nothing about those two.

It's not a secret that he is on the stricter side and that's not an issue but i do have a strong feeling that maybe his fame got over his head. Even his son said, the relationship with him is difficult because he is married to his work. Also the one time when he left the theater mid airing of a movie produced by his son, because it was too bad for him...
