Honestly, I would prefer Bandai's Figuarts, MonsterArts, and their Gundam model kits (most notably the High Grade) and the McFarlane Toys Warhammer figure line over the expensive P-Bandai Warhammer figures.
The mcfarland, I mean, set aside the paintjob, they're pretty cheap and durable. I'm not a giant fan of the ones you got to paint, because these are action figures, the paint just rubs off, give me pre painted action figures.
I like the subtle mentioning/hinting towards never getting a review of the Psycho Zaku up on the shelf. I'd like to see one because I have mine ready to start and seeing another review would definitely entice me to actually build it instead of stare at the box.
6:27 I am not sure if there is much of a market for this. Warhammer 40k is a series with a heavy foundation in model painting and customization- even more so than gunpla, since gunpla often aims to look fine with straight builds. This is relevant, because the McFarlane one has a grey, blank slate variant at $20. So... yeah. $220 left often like more than enough room to either buy an entire customization tool kit and paints... or you know. Just hire someone else to do it.
Agreed, customizing the McFarlane figures is a breeze, they're very easy to work with, and even if they get a price hike to 40usd for the Orks, still an absolute dream of a sculpt with reasonable articulation, and again, very easy to tweak into better articulation and vastly better paints. The JoyToy figures are pricey too, but you're getting lots of accessories and variant sculpts to really squad build, and the option is there for in-scale vehicles and larger units. They too are a better deal than the offerings from Bandai.
Hey man, you know not everyone around the world may not have the skill that you have. Some people may never practice painting through their life, effect by cultures or import. but they still fall in love with Warhammer, so that’s the people who might want this.
@@hanxuxie8165 I don't have the skill either. But let's be honest here- a near $200 price difference means you can outsource your talent and potentially get better results than we see here. Between paints and labor, you might still have money left over.
The metal and ratchets give off a high quality feel but the paint job and plastic molding off sets it as a mass production Gamestop figure. Realistically, this figure is only worth 120 usd.

@getchwaltzetki6022 That’s different from a boltstorm gauntlet. The Boltstorm Gauntlet is a power fist with a storm bolter strapped to it. The storm bolter gauntlet is a storm bolter strapped to a Marine’s arm. No power fist required.
All I could think about was the heavy arms kai mg when it came to that gattling belt. This figure feels like Bandai just used left over parts and made it as cheap as possible to maximize profits due to licensing fees Bandai had to pay.
To clarify, that would mean the Bandai name. If it were true about the Gdubs or Ultramarines name, then the MacFarlane marines would have a comparable price tag.
Jeez! And I thought the Joytoy version had problems. Seems way too pricey. I just picked up a set of Reivers from Joytoy and a couple of Chaos Space Marines, and all those combined is still cheaper than picking up this fella. Really loving Joytoy's offerings, there's tons to choose from and even more on the way! Would like to see you review them. Great job and thanks by the way. Your vids got me through the pandemic and into gunpla. I also discovered Joytoy from one of your vids too. Now I've got a growing collection that's not slowing down 💀
Thank you Mecha. I at times wonder if you've forgotten how to give a bad review. Your always so excited and positive. Your honest I just worry your getting to nice. So thanks for proving my worries wrong =) great review
Honestly, I'm good with the McFarlane stuff. They pose pretty well despite their size. Ironically better than most of his other figs. And you can always paint/customize the colored figs or they even make all grey ones just for customs. Plus, only about 20. 🤷♂️ seems good enough to me.
Around the 11 minute mark, that red/pink light adds amazing lighting. Maybe put it on the gun side to mimic muzzle flash. The way the light caught on the face and torso was freaking awesome
i'm still amazed Bandai neglected to give their Space Marines a ball torso, which would be rather well hidden given the design of the armor. Having an ab crunch and waist swivel is just an odd choice.
I'm still in shock regarding how bad this figure is. The overall look and colour was bad enough, and don't get me started on that ammo belt, but this is insanity. For 220 bucks I could have made my own space marine, and have 180 bucks left over. The McFarlane figures are beyond this thing and it's 10x the price. It has barely any accessories, poor articulation, a mediocre paint job, and no electronics of any kind. They knew that next to no one would buy this and figured that making the price that high would allow them to make some kind of return.
This figure completely blows, it's price is outrageous the belly looks super weird with how the bottom flap of his belly just sticks out in the model it's tucked in, obviously you can move the chains to be over that, but why didn't they just leave that part inside of the torso proper? Also the paintjob is awful for this price point this figure is an absolute joke and power sword is painted so lazily too
Since you like the JoyToy ones, would really love to see you review a set or the single releases(Gravis Captain too maybe?). Been looking at them as well recently.
Maybe you can try the Archecore series of figures. It's a 1/35 scale and the theme is like Vikings + Mad Max + Transforming Mecha + a little bit of Warhammer vibes.
Now, I have to ask........Glory to the Imperium? Praise the Ominssiah? For the Greater Good? Blood for the Blood God? We're really sorry we created Slannesh? Whatever screeching the Tyranids do?
Me personally, I'm always going to choose several minis over one figure just because I do build and paint them (to a better quality than this) as well as play the tabletop game. But you'd think it would at least have the same level of detail as the mini it's based off of if not more so since it's easier to put intricate detail on a larger surface.
Such a cool figure from such an awesome series we need more war hammer great review (P.S asking for a MG sazabi ver ka review and maybe a PG astray red would be awsome) 🤘

I mean it's nice and detailed and everything, but I wouldn't pay that. I have a Artist proof McFarland version and I plan on putting some work into. I bet it comes out better.
TBH expensive price probably not from bandai, but from GW them self. Looks at those product from GW, I never saw anything at full price that I can say cheap from them
The preview photos alone told me that those are garbage for their price tag. You can literally build a 10-man SQUAD of McFarlane's marines for the same price of the single Bandai. Im really surprised they messed those up so badly. Between the mold lines and paint application you mentioned, there's nothing that warrants a price tag anywhere above a 100 bucks. No weathering, hard plastic cape, and the sword is just a slap in the face (could've at least painted it differently), and at this price they could've AT LEAST put some LEDs in the helmet.
I think this figure would be muuuch more palate-able and acceptable if it cost like $80? The Optimus that Mecha shows costs like $80, and is better quality but is smaller, so factoring in the larger size of this guy I’d say still that $80 is muuuuch more realistic than $240! Transformers is a property that company had to license anyway right? So why would this figure need to be sooooo much more money anyway? There MUST be a reason?
